Let's only reference the openly far-right critics whose motive is questionable and omit any criticism by anyone else, because we really want the reader to assume anyone who criticizes us at all must be far-right.

It's part of the media's word games. Train people so they read far right = alt-right = nazi, so they hint people are Nazis without actually saying it.

Having listened to a ton of harmon town and going through a lot of Dan Harmons stuff I'll try and sum it up a simply and without autism as I can.
Dan never seems to raise his voice. Instead he gets more methodical and vindictive. He picks people apart saying things he knows will make them emotional all the while trying to come off as the voice of reason. That way they end up feeling bad for yelling at this manipulative asshole even though they were probably in the right. Dan isn't an idiot and he is aware he does this, but he thinks his awareness and token efforts to be better at least put his crimes on the back burner. Creators in hollywood are an emotional lot so it really takes just a bit of emotional intelligence to manipulate people on a conscious or subconscious level.

I honestly doubt he does it consciously at this point, but in the end it makes little difference. He is a manipulative asshole. I know the raising the voice thing at the beginning sounds superfluous, but think about it.
That's actually an insightful assessment of it. It certainly explains why he dreamlike despite being seemingly untouchable by controversy. He also can't seem to climb higher than television in Hollywood. While that kind of manipulative tactic can be effective, it's also easily dismantled together- especially if you're aware of his modus operandi. And the seasoned calculated execs in the higher tiers of entertainment certainly would be.

Also explains why he's so block happy. Between the lack of time in written word words and that statistically speaking he's bound to run into someone smarter than him, his spergouts are more clearly spergouts.
"To my knowledge there were like 1000 copies printed or some low number like that because the book was originally a birthday gift from Erin to dan."

Jesus christ, really? And here I thought Harmon couldn't get any more pompous, it's a wonder that he ever got a girlfriend at all. I wouldn't be surprised if Dan's idea of a Christmas gift is to text them a dick pic with "you're welcome" signed on it.

though if the part about his ex wife being the one who picked out which blog posts which put into the book, I can't help but wonder if she's been playing the long game and trolling Harmon a little bit. It seems a little too perfect that she didn't know that this could potentially bite him in the ass to let him publish a book full of him admitting to preying on his female friends, exhibiting text book Nice Guy Syndrome, fantasies about him molesting other women or himself as a woman, or gems like this:
"Dan Harmon" said:
You girls have so much fucking resentment for men, you can take all the shots at us you want, and you consider yourselves perfect little angels because to you, physical attraction is currency in a poker game played with voluntary feelings.
Guys feel. They just fucking feel things. We don't choose it when it's convenient. We can't turn our dicks or our hearts off like a light until we find the most valuable situation. We just want to kiss things and fuck things and hold things. We'd rather it be women but if you lock us in a building for too long, we'll put our dicks in each other's butts. We'll fuck dogs, we'll fuck trees.
That is our weakness and women have been exploiting that weakness in men since the beginning of time. Why do you think we were wary to let you vote and hold jobs? Where's the fucking balance, here, how much fucking power do you people need? And stop pretending it's about "equality" while you continue to hobble around on stilt-shoes with clown paint on your faces and gel packs in your bras saying stupid shit.

Though with all these white knights going "OMG THAT WAS AGES AGO" the fallout is gonna be really fucking funny when Harmon inevitably creeps on yet another female colleague working on Rick and Morty or some of his other antics.

Apparently Hasbro and Lauren Faust had it out because she was not happy with the bronies and complained to Hasbro, who basically said “we don’t care who we’re selling toys to, as long as we’re selling toys.”

So you’re not too far off the mark
Faust has actually always been fairly supportive of anyone liking her shows, men or women, boys or girls, so I’m doubtful that actually happened, unless it was about the more disturbing fans.

Pretty sure it was the real creepers, not just “boys in general”.

iirc she got upset when she heard the stories about neckbeards pushing little girls out of the way to buy the last Pinkie Pie doll, that kind of thing

The Twitter users that reeeeeeee about "those damn right wingers are trying to get Dan Harmon in trouble" would probably still sing this song and dance if it came to light he was involved with this creepy shit

I bet you they go after the people claiming it just so "it wouldn't affect the quality," of rick and morty.
Aka be so autistic they put cartoons over actual human lives

Not just Rick and morty, people literally reeeeing specifically about the right wing trolls "getting their way". It's the main theme of the first two below.

Datnofact - angry that right wing trolls are resorting to what "lefties" do since it's hypocrisy. "Your morals are hollow if you condone what happened to Gunn"

Vito - "right wing trolls are going after people who have long since apologized for their prior behavior online. It's bs. It shouldn't matter if the person himself has done similar by going after people's employers over Twitter crap."

Might be a literal "who" for a lot of you

Neon - "We shouldn't allow crazy people on Twitter dictate how things outside of Twitter happen"

Most reasonable of the three

Yup, it’s true. Here’s the video of the moment he discovered he’d written a book: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xLqZf1MTvQ

She didn’t really “pick” which blog posts to publish, though; she basically just used them all.

Hey, wouldn't you know, the same people that defended Harmon's right to make edgy jokes are totally in support of what happened to the global takedown of Alex Jones. When the James Gunn situation happened, "REEEEEE". But Alex Jones getting globally taken down? They sleep.

Of course, I don't support the guy. But they wanna talk about hypocrisy, lol.

Agreed.

This right here is why I can't stand the current state of politics. Too much freaking out over "Who did it" rather than "What was done".

In those people's minds: Dan Harmon is on our side politically and he makes a cartoon I like so "SUPPORT! EVERLASTING SUPPORT!". Alex Jones is a blowhard that says outlandish and mean things and I don't agree with him so "YES! HE'S BANNED! YAY!".

If you look at both situations objectively, what did Alex Jones really do other than just say crazy conspiracy theory shit? I mean, yeah, its shit, but I don't think he did anything that would make a rational person feel uncomfortable. I think most people either watch him for the lolz or ignore him knowing that he's a nutbag. Its like demanding that supermarket tabloids should be removed from the supermarket. I mean, yeah, I guess you could, but why waste the energy on something so outlandish yet impossible to take seriously?

Dan Harmon...displays some...uh...disturbing behavior to say the least, but apparently that is okay with these same people that wanted Alex Jones deplatformed. It really is infuriating to me.

Its the same thing as Roseanne and James Gunn. Both said dumb offensive things and got fired...and yet you had a political shit fest with both sides bashing one and defending the other despite the fact that it was pretty much the same exact situation. I guess you could say Roseanne's comments were more recent or that Gunn's comments were far more disturbing, but whatever the case, I wish we could get some goddamn consistency rather than just abandoning your principles just to hurt someone you don't like.

They seem to dilute themselves into thinking that if one of their guys goes down in a scandal, it'll make their side look bad politically. Now I can't speak for the public as a whole, but if the left came out and demanded that Alex Jones be deplatformed, and then demanded the same thing of Dan Harmon and at least displayed consistency with their beliefs, I could actually respect that.

I'm reading through Harmon's book, and I've noticed that it just so happens to include the complete blog entries of his fight with Silverman, including the eemails, so when I have time I'm gonna try and transcribe them for this thread.

Also noticed that the last few entries seem to correspond with the time when he was harassing Ganz, so there might be some good lolcow content there. There's so many gems that going through the whole book is a slow process so far.

Kinda makes me want to compile a timeline of all the shirty things Harmon has said & done over the years up until when he deleted his Twitter. How long are the statue of limitations and insistence that "Harmon changed" supposed to last of he was still being a shitbag all the way through 2018?

Well, he says sorry and he hates Drumpf, so no limitations. It's gonna take hard proof of him having killed or raped someone until they turn the other cheek on him, although if that victim's a white fucking Republican male they'll just cheer instead.

Perhaps this is :optimistic: or maybe even a little naive of me, but despite how he seemingly dodged so many controversies I get the feeling Harmon's gonna hit a wall eventually.

Comparing Harmon's work history to his current project lineup, I can't help but notice he's gone from internet and TV shorts, to writing offers on film productions like Kung Fu Panda (which from the sounds of his MySpace, he was let go from for being unable to meet a deadline considering how many blog posts he wrote about procrastinating on writing it) to producing television. But since then, he's slowly going backwards where outside the occasional executive producer credit for an indie film, most of his work now is on Rick and Morty (where animation is still the short bus of television productions) and his web shows.

While it might not seem like he's facing repercussions now, it seems like he's definitely burned some bridges that probably aren't going to be open to him again any time soon, and at the rate he's going he'll very likely end up more or less back where he started content wise. So there probably won't be any huge backlash towards Harmon so much that he'll be gradually phased out the more he proves to be a liability until he's eventually just left sitting on his podcast going "I used to write for television you know."

Another way to look at it is that he's put his work in, has become wealthy and will have residuals coming in until his children's children die so he can just screw around with his own little passion projects instead of being a cog in the Time Warner/Sony Pictures machine.
