Aurini made a film, Dan says "that piece of shit cost 10,000$" and was filmed in 10 weeks. Despite a lot of people claiming he was a GGer he got pretty resoundingly ejected pretty early on when he started panhandling. CON was incredibly worried about the guy though, despite the fact that he was an asshat, specifically because Quinn and friends were joined at the hip to Feminist Frequency from the start.

This is early in the AM on Christmas Day, the chat group planned to antagonize Gamergate by buying an ad for Dan's Medium post on /r/KotakuInAction and Dan was extremely willing to throw money at this and pay more if everyone else is too cheap to pitch in, even going so far as to say "Folding Ideas" will "cover the spread." Note some of the comments where the participants admit they are only doing this to 'be an asshole to nerds' and act like "glorious assholes" and "dicks." They did end up paying for it but because they dreamt up this idea at like 1 AM EST on Christmas morning, the ad wouldn't be up until the 26th.

Sadly, the leaked logs did not capture the exact moment Nyberg was doxed on New Year's 2015 nor did they have "serious" chat logs from that night (I previously extracted relevant parts of the logs dealing with his doxing over in Nyberg's thread). From what we do have, Dan doesn't seem to have reacted to the revelations at all, he continued to converse with the self-admitted pedophile and participated in the group as if nothing had happened.

I don't recall how much of the Nyberg stuff came out at this point, but the guy is disgusting, there was years of pedophilic history on his accounts on various sites, years of chat logs, all with Nyberg declaring himself to be a pedophile, discussing his attempts at grooming his 6-8 year old cousin and how he gets a "boner" by seeing her and how he wanted to buy her a vibrator, and Nyberg shared photos from pedophile sites in the FFshrine chat and said that "nudity isn't CP" when called out. Here is something I found while preparing this post, an article was published in 2015 as a follow-up to their earlier article exposing Nicholas "sarah butts" Nyberg's history of self-admitted pedophilia. The article also mentioned the people who came to Nyberg's defense when his history was revealed earlier in the year on New Year's 2015, we now know every name on that list was either in the secret chat group or in contact with its members (Jay Allen/Jared Goodwin aka A Man in Black rejected an invitation due to wanting plausible deniability or some such, though he was in contact with many members of the group still and later showed up in the Crash Override Network Trello logs as an active contributor.)

Dan Olson took part in an operation to show "solidarity with Nyberg."


The article includes archived tweets of Dan and the other chat members showing support for Nyberg on Twitter. On January 2nd, Randi Harper called for everyone to change their display names to "stand with" Nyberg. https://archive.is/tCKCz

What was the "emergency?" Well a simple Twitter search shows us the answer. People had continued to dig on Nyberg in the days since the New Year dox and had found his piracy website's IRC logs, logs where he constantly talked about being a pedophile, shared CP and imagery from pedophile sites, constantly talked about trying to groom his underage cousin, argued with other IRC chatters while defending pedophilia/pedophiles, etc. All of that was continual over many years. Some exerpts of the logs were released by The Ralph Retort on January 4th and the secret chat group spent the day claiming they were fake. In response to that, a hacker group pwned Nyberg and proved the logs were legit, this is what he went running to Randi about.
