I watched it, just to have something in the background, and you're right, it is INSUFFERABLE. Not that anything he says in it about crypto is /wrong/ but everything has been translated into intellectual jargon to make him seem more educated. Every paragraph is in woke academia speak. It's the exact opposite of an Internet Historian or Ordinary Things video, which drags a concept down to funny laymen's terms and makes it interesting.
This feels like those old scholastic fucks of the Middle Ages who wrote everything in Latin.

It's worse. Educated people wrote in Latin back then because that's what all the other educated people spoke, so using Latin allowed scholars and scientists to communicate with one another using a shared language, while writing in the country's home language would sharply curtail how many people they could corresponding with.
Olsen is doing it to imitate whst he thinks intelligent people sound like (while in reality a hallmark of intelligence and understanding is the ability to communicate complicated topics in a way that non-specialists can understand), or to intentionally render his arguments immune to critique and rebuttal by his audience.

Having heard some of the talking points in his video he doesn't seem to even understand the basics of crypto. Like he claims crypto can't be private since it has a public blockchain record, which is just untrue. There is a reason criminals still use the crypto for transactions its private unless you are a retard e-celeb who dumps his wallet address on twitter. I'll agree with Dan that the original goal of bitcoin as a new stable digital gold have been dashed by its transformation into a meme stock bro asset, but the whole thing just reeks of the weird modern lefty trends to deny inflation is even real. I've seen multiple tweets from big name blue checkmarks claiming there is no inflation only companies raising prices because capitalism decided to be extra evil today.

Olson is truly the establishment's golden boy. His video is being recommended relentlessly. I haven't watched a single one of his videos and I haven't watched anything on Youtube about NFT's or crypto, yet there it is. Would be really cool if he'd make like Ellis or that Alt Right Playbook cuck and go the fuck away.

For Dan, it's fear that the wrong people will use NFT's to get rich. That's his real motive. Not that people will get scammed, he doesn't actually give a fuck about that and probably secretly thinks they deserve it, but that "Nazis" will be able to make money. He briefly admitted as much in the VICE interview. Stonetoss used NFT's to make 2 million dollars in an afternoon. Leftists were furious. That's what this is really about to them.
Dan wants a social credit system. He wants it so badly he thinks about it when he faps in a futile attempt to give himself an erection. The idea of people who commit wrongthink being able to be successful drives him crazy.
Nothing about his involvement in the campaign against NFT's is altruistic.

Nope, just the ones who are just as nerdy as him, but managed to become more powerful despite their seeming lack of education. Dan Olsen wasted thousands of hours in videogames around the 08 recession, and he was comfortable believing that it was the the one flaw he could blame for making him a life loser. He was comfortable thinking of himself as an underperforming genius, constantly rationalizing why the world was too fucked for him to do anything. But then dorks with the same social flaws and even lower IQs managed to start moving and shaking the world in ways that he felt entitled to. And so he stews in impotent rage that people are breaking the rules of the identity he had cast on himself and others
Here's a story: in 2011 I did a school report on Bitcoin, which was less than a year old at the time. It wasn't even a tech class, but a public speaking class, and I chose it because I randomly read about it. My report made all the same conclusions Dan does- that cryptocurrencies were a highly-volitile asset that will inevitably crash and waste a lot of electricity along the way. And I was 100% right. At the time the Bitcoin community was so much smaller that a couple of somethingawful goons were able to crash the price from like $100 to $20 by posting fake charts around the internet. And yet it was still a $20 asset that eventually became worth $50,000 and every "moron" that bought into it for the next 7 years was able to make a killing.

Dan acting like this actually makes me believe the /tv/ theory that he did his video on NC's The Wall as a way to help Lindsay make her comeback with her Mask Off video.
Video essays got popular when angry reviews waned in popularity so Dan was ahead of the curve in that regard. His videos are also long like his video on NFTs being 2 hours so the algorithm will recommend it to a lot of people as it keeps people on Youtube much longer than an 8 minute video would.
