It's been a long time, never thought this would be...
But he's wrong about this being the defense's "last ditch effort." It's actually the government's. The defense wants him to be found incompetent, because that would likely result in his charges getting dropped, followed by civil commitment or even outright release which is obviously preferable to federal prison.
The government wants to convict him of his crimes, and they need him competent for that.

At the end of the day, what would be the point of said conviction as opposed to putting him in a mental institution for the rest of Daniel's life? With somebody as nuts as Daniel, trying to "punish" him would be an exercise in futility as he does not have the capacity to reflect on his actions or become a functional member of society post-release.Today's the day.

Being locked up in a mental facility would still mean that he would not be able to go anywhere, and he could be controlled as needed. What would being convicted and being given a prison sentence do that being in a loony bin for the duration of his lifespan could not?

One more successful conviction always looks better on paper for the Prosecutor's career rather than one less + Total statistical conviction rate too. I think fed has a ridiculous high number, which I'm sure they wanna keep.

Fuckass Bob testified for Dan. Is he doing this to atone for running Dan over with his car, breaking his arm, stealing his phone, calling the feds on him, and abandoning him at the murder motel? Possibly.
In any case, it's interesting that the defense chose to call him, and I think this raises the odds of Dan getting some sort of a conditional release.
Still no decision on competency though.

Ian Thomson and Jodie Marquez were two of Dan's case managers. Notably absent is case manager nigger Andrew, who Dan once threatened to hunt down and kill.
Tiffany Montano is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who was Dan's counselor between 2021-2022. Here's Dan texting with her:
Not sure about the other witnesses. There's an Alicia H. Cho who's a behavioral psychiatrist, but she seems to specialize in adolescent psychiatry. There's also a Dr. Mark Mills who's a forensic psychiatrist. Here's him testifying in court.
