Darktide

The fact that this is the "new" standard of gaming and many niggercattle continue to buy into this shit depresses me. No matter what "improvements" Darktide adds, I'm not buying your shit.
tbh the more I see fagshark being retarded over and over I wish rebellion would get their hands on the license. shit works and is fun from the start...

Admittedly, I bought it since I enjoyed Vermintide 2, and this kind of game could work really well in the 40K setting. If only, you know, the story wasn't a flaming bag of dogshit, or Fatshark got their heads out of their asses faster, or if they prioritized fixing their goddamned game over the real money cosmetic shop...

On a related note, if you faggots lock new class specializations behind DLC, I'm going back to Deep Rock Galactic.
Slightly more relevant note, something at least decent happened with the 1.5 patch: my silly chassis got proven wrong. They didn't go full retard and lock the new classes behind DLC, rather there is a big talent tree for each archetype that you fill in as you level. In theory, it's still in the Wild West phase where everyone's still figuring out the Diff 4/5 meta for another week or two and the builds begin to take shape, so you can get away with doing stupid shit. I haven't looked too hard at the other characters, because Ogryn.
Thank the warp they didn't fuck the Ogryn up, at least.
Catachan Lunchbox grenade is still a good pick, and less of a hassle to get. Other grenades are throwing a fucking rock (4 charges, you regen 1 every minute and don't use grenade boxes) and a pocket nuke for all intents and purposes. The old melee-heavy Skullbreaker build is still there with some tweaks, there's a tree to be Bardin and tank everything forever, and a tree for cosplaying as a mobile anti-aircraft battery.

Maybe in two or three more years the game will actually be good.

E: Oh yeah, and you're still up to the tender mercies of the RNG to get your weapons tweaked out just so, since of the two (each) blessings/traits a max rarity weapon can have, you're only allowed to manually choose two (total) of them. So, get something with Just The Right Stats The Way You Want Them, but don't get at least two of Those Things You Need? Haha, fuck you for trying to get your build right! You just wasted all your time and resources! Get another one and grind some more, faggot! What, did you think this was Vermintide, where you can just roll traits until you're satisfied?! Haha, fuck you some more, go grind like a retard!
Fuck off into the sun and don't come back.

If you like darktide but not vermintide, you're a casual faggot and also the target audience of this microtransaction platform disguised as a game.
If you think it's better or worse than Vermintide you're retarded. They are both horrible with monetization. Darktide at least has progression that feels rewarding, and mechanics that don't make me want to stop playing. Shove your superiority up your ass. Vermintide was not a bad game, just one plagued by monetization and shitty updates. Darktide shares issues, but they are far less prevalent and on top of further refined gameplay.

Is there a specific meta for the veteran?
Shout is god-tier, marksman line is good if you have good aim and kindof dogshit if you don't, stealth is a meme and not worth it at all, smoke grenades are obviously total shit. They said they're gonna rework the entire tree later on, so how long the meta lasts is up in the air. Psykers being so busted atm after being dogshit has kindof weakened the marksman niche, and stealth's damage output can't compare to how retarded good the shout is

Plasma gun is godlike, chainsword is stupid good, bolter was nerfed but is still good. Force sword is still good but requires specific blessings to really kick like it used to, I think power cycling or something. Laspistol and autopistol for the shout build are surprisingly good utility, not really great for dealing with enemies at range but they stagger gunners long enough to let you run up and hit them.

There's a tier list of specific weapons floating around somewhere that does a decent job of breaking down what's good, and the blessings / perks autism does matter eventually, but unless you play 16 hours a day it's gonna take you a while to grind out the shitty rng crafting system anyways

Just got into this when it came to Xbox. Is there a specific meta for the veteran? Really enjoying the center line of the skill tree with the stagger shout.
Small advice: please bind your tagging/marking special enemies in a convenient button. You'll need it, tagging special enemies helps a lot.
My example shout build
Example shout build.png
1) Don't pick up reviving down teammate with shout talent. Negative (range reduction and cooldown increase) out weights positive too much.
2) For all vets, always pick ammo regen on elite kill aura. Don't pick other two, they are very minimal/worthless.
3a) Always pick regen a grenade every 60 seconds. They are your resource efficient build and for crutch/oh shit moments, because grenade spawns as loot really low. Especially High intensity shock guard modifier for a mission will have a lot of "bad situation".
3b) Kark grenade (middle tree) is good on big enemies like Bulwark, Reaper, Crusher and mini-boss Monstrosity, big damage - small explosion.
Shredder frag grenade for horde. Choose between one of these grenades to accompanying your weapon choices.
Don't use Grenade Tinkerer talent, it's a really wasted skillpoint and overkill.
4) Field Improvisation, next to auto regen grenade talent. As long as you are near or in cohenrency when ammo crate/medic pack is deployed, it doesn't matter who puts them down. They still give buffed effects.
5) A must have imo for any vets, Iron will in later of middle tree. 50% toughness reduction if your toughness is 70% above.
6) On my far right, bottom highlight one, it gives Rending to your weapon on hit. Aka, armour piercing to your attack. Brittleness is giving everyone on the team armour piericing damage to that enemy. You'll notice these two words on weapon blessing later on.
Bolter and Plasma gun don't need those.

Weapons, I'm just assuming you're still leveling, not much resources so my recommendation is for saving resource to craft for specific blessings and perks.
Perks, mostly choose between Carapace (crusher, mauler), Unyielding (reaper, bulwark, miniboss), Flak and Maniac damage bonus.
Melee, recommending using Chainsword, Catachan Mk 1 or 4, Mk2 Tactical Axe with any blessings that give you cleave on hit and damage (power) on hit. Blessings name like Wrath, Rampage, Savage Sweep, Brutal Momentum, Headtakers.
Powersword Mk3 and Mk6, are heavily required Power Cycler blessing (more Power Charge attack) to be good or feels good to use.
Try to learn each weapon combo chain, test them in Psykarium, so can get idea of dealing horde better. Also practice, block, shove if needed.

Ranged
Colour variant description, blue is most ammo - least damage (better against trash/horde), brown is the highest damage - least ammo (more efficient against speical/elite units). Grey-green is middle of the road. For whatever reasons, the grey-green version is usually the worst variants.
For Ogryn is the reverse, blue is highest damage, brown is the highest ammo.

1) Braced autogun, Agripinna Mk8 (brown one). Don't bother bracing, just hipfiring is accurate enough against sniper, tap firing.
2) Kantrael MG XII infantry gun (brown one) is the best all around ammo efficient gun. Only Kantrael guns have scope, easier to see target afar.
3) Recently buffed Vraks headhunter autogun. Any is fine, but the Mk7 (brown one) is single shot instead of 2-shot burst and it's better to build for Marksman tree of veteran (left most side) for breakpoints. I somewhat prefer these over Kantrael MG 12.
4) Accatran recon lasgun, ammo hungry weapons and must required Infernus blessing (inflicting fire damage on targets)
5) Hellbore lasguns, shotguns and revolver aren't really recommended. Hellbore feels lacklusted in their role comparing to other weapons type. Later two are more for Zealot playstyle, since their ammo reserve aren't enough for veteran.

I picked this up a week or 2 ago and having lots of fun plaging zealot and ogryn mostly because eviscerator goes brrt and ogryn goes smash.

Havent really figured out vet and psyker yet but most classes are a drag the first few levels until you have enough talent points to do something useful. Vet seems to run out of ammo quickly even when trying to be conservative and the psyker headpop seems to be absolute trash.

I love the 40k theme though and chainswords and bolters and autoguns are really fun to use. I havent played vermintide though Im lead to understand the devs support it better.

I have fun but grinding out the last few levels feels really repetitive and I feel the lack of maps contribute this as it feels like there are 2 or 3 actual maps and you just run through them forwards or backwards.

I was keen to grind out my first character to 30 to see what the cutscenes are but ultimately they are really pointless as it just seems your character walks up to random notable crewmember gets told to git gud and fuck off with a slap on the ass on the way out reminiscent of far cry's room cutscenes lmao.

Tldr gameplay and equipment feel fun. Love smashin 'eretics. Story is trash. Could probably repeat it for a while as it feels like a stripped down DRG without mining mechanics and only open courtyards and hallways.

Do the special units and elites become more interesting in higher difficulties? I remember in Vermintide the special units didn't feel threatening but once I started playing the harder difficulties they became a lot more interesting and could really fuck up your day

In Darktide all the unique enemies blend together but I can't tell if its just because I'm currently playing on lower difficulties.

With all the in game hints its looking like we might be getting a genestealer cult faction. The psyker voicelines about a shadow in the warp is especially a very tyranid esque thing. I know we'll never get them but a Ork faction would absolutely slap

like half of the enemies dont appear on the 2nd difficulty and lower, then they start to spam them on 4 and higher
Pretty much this you dont see ogryn elites until difficulty 3 minimun and you also start seeing larger groups of ragers and other special mixes. And the amount of special units that can be spammed on 3 4+ must be a nightmare

Got my zealot up to 30 now and im slowly grinding my ogryn, shield and mace is damn good

I haven't played since January but specials definitely blended in even on damnation. It didn't really matter if you knew they were there or not because they'd still manage to get their disable moves off through walls, corners, and otherwise out of line of sight. Having spent a good amount of time with both games, I think Vermintide has better audio ques and more visually distinct enemies.

Dont understand why though there was a game that was basically darktide but a spess marine vs tyranids they could easily rip the models from that and shove it into darktide. Though god knows how bolted together the game engine is
I'm no game dev but if I had to take a guess there's probably logistical issues that would make it impractical

Fatshark is notoriously lazy to begin with. It took them three two years to implement beastmen in VT2 and another almost two to fix the associated bugs and jank. If they're gonna add genestealers or any new enemy faction, I doubt it'd be anytime soon.

On a separate note, I reinstalled DT last night to check out the new skill trees. Had a good time playing a soulblaze psyker but I'm super rusty and my gear is shit.

Some dipshit reported me for my characters name, said so in chat, and abandoned the map. By the time the map was over, every character of mine had their names manually changed by some Swedish cuckold. There's already a word filter for names. I come back a few hours later and I get a sign in error at the main page. Probably banned. Incredible.
