Darktide

Some dipshit reported me for my characters name, said so in chat, and abandoned the map. By the time the map was over, every character of mine had their names manually changed by some Swedish cuckold. There's already a word filter for names. I come back a few hours later and I get a sign in error at the main page. Probably banned. Incredible.
What were the names? If they're not incredibly racist I'm going to be disappointed

Stinkler (vet), GoyGoyBankman (psyker), Transphobic Timmy (ogryn), and Pitmaster Troon (zealot). These characters have been in the game for a year.

edit: I went through the log files and it's a week long ban. I also went over their stupid terms of service and I from what I can tell, having a naughty name isn't a violation. Never typed shit in chat besides ty and gg.

It's current days gaming, as long as the game has some form of online engagement, it's better to not type problematic things in chat. Some games may even have automatic ban. Voice chat is 50/50 depending if other person does recording or not.
Reminds me of this one time on Darktide reddit, the guy uses black female face with the name "MonkeyFaceWoman", many didn't like that. Still his gameplay is actual shit though, Malice difficulty and took that much damage from trash or he just didn't care enough.

The maps all feel the same to me. Vermintide 2 has much more variety with biomes and shit. I get it's set in a hive city but I hoped they could do something to change it up
Oh, they play this straight with in game voicelines. It happened yesterday, female Loose Canon vet and male Seer or Loner psyker. Like LC vet says like to whole team does anyone feel like they've doing all this again and again. Psyker replies something like everything down here just looks the same to him.
Still wanna try out Vermintide 2, too lazy to download the game from recent sale. Before that game was bloated in filesize.

Doesn't really help the game actually rehashes some parts of the map for few missions. Not all missions, but map types.
Chasm Terminus, trains - railroad tunnels..

Throneside, cathedrals - streets.

The Torrent, ghetto houses, long bridge - elevator and stinky sewer voicelines.

The hourglass, bright morning sunny.

MetalFab, unironically this one has the most distinct between missions.

It's wild how almost six years later with multiple new modes and twice as many maps as at launch, the game is half the filesize.

Way before the game came out, when Fatshark talked about how the maps were gonna intersect with each other and how there was gonna be more or less an entire city modeled. Some people took that to mean that the traditional mission structure was gonna be different this time around and maybe the hub was gonna be somewhere in all of that mess. I'm glad that didn't happen as it'd have nudged the game into some 40k version of Destiny territory. My hope was that because significant portions of potential maps are already complete, they'd be able to pump out new maps faster (so far it looks like they've added four since launch. VT2 pumped out five in it's first year and FS made it a consistent point to kvetch about how hard it was to make new maps) but that doesn't seem to be the case.

The guy didn't get banned though, did he? Banning people for sneaking names through the filter invalidates the purpose of the filter in the first place.

Can't say for sure since there wasn't official response from Fatshark at that post, roughly 1 year ago. But there are people have been asking Fatshark on Discord to ban with their provided proof. Usually writing proper email to Fatshark.
Considering if you can see character-steam profile of previous people you've played with from social tab (previous missions) in game , I don't think it's hard for Fatshark to do some works.

I like the game but playing with randoms and no one wants to talk to each other is not fun
Can't blame people for not wanting to talk when behind every random is a tranny janny waiting to send you to the slammer. It's also not really hard enough to require a lot of communication. This isn't me defending the lack of communication, just throwing out a possible explanation. I'd recommend getting into modded Vermintide if that's what you're looking for.

In other news, I had a look at the new vet skill tree and I don't think that much thought went into it. I know that some other things got moved around but really what they did was slap the keystone nodes onto an already stretched thin tree. There should either be crossover paths at the bottom or there should be less nodes overall/some nodes should be condensed. Regardless, it's gargantuan compared to the others.

Psyker tree for reference. I think this needed another pass.

No mic comms wasn't my issue, it was console shitters not even coming close to pulling their weight. Constantly dying/exploding, aggroing the Daemonhost, never fucking tagging anything... Just because I'm rolling an Ogryn doesn't mean these useless leaky assholes aren't heavy. Give me new straps on my backpack, mine are worn out from carrying these dickheads all the time.
Also, for the love of God, Fatshark, stop trying to give this game a narrative. No one cares, and none of the player(s)' actions have any bearing on your story, since all of the important characters in it are NPCs. That's not even close to how you get people to care about what's going on. Admittedly, I'm just bitching in the wind, since making the godawful annoying Real Money Cosmetic Shop Bitch a quest narrator pushed me over the edge to uninstall the game again. I came dangerously close to just Alt+F4-ing the game when she opened her useless gob the first couple of times I landed that mission.

Oh lord, how long has crossplay been in the game? Can you at least disable it or is that yet another feature in the pipeline of never fucking happening?
I'm surprised they actually added it because the console versions of VT2 were very different than the pc version. Due to hardware restrictions, the console versions heavily decreased the amount of enemies present while somewhat buffing the ones there to compensate. This led to a brief spat where consolefags were convinced they had the harder version of the game because chaos warriors had a tiny bit more hp and one shot you with overheads the same way normal cws do, only for I think all of them to disappear from the FS forum.

I did a scanning mission earlier with 3 console randoms, I was lvl 15 & they were between all between 20-30 and not one of these motherfuckers pulled their auspex out to scan a single thing. Not only did they leave me to scan everything they also didn't protect me whilst I was and instead ran around separately so it took ages as I had to keep saving them from specials as well as fight off mobs as I tried to scan. I'm convinced they literally didn't know how to scan, its

Mission was only on malice so I carried them but it took so much longer than it should have. They need to add the option to turn off crossplay.

Dunno exactly, to be honest. A few months, maybe? I recall seeing some prodigious butthurt on the Steam forums about new accounts from the MS store got some fuckhuge pile of in-game money that was an order of magnitude larger than what was given to preorders/early adopters before crossplay happened.
Granted, I don't blame them for being pissed off about it. I wouldn't be surprised if that decision chased a lot of Fatshark's paypigs to a different trough.

A different someone also posited that crossplay was introduced to salvage the game's cratering playerbase by forcibly merging the two pools - apparently by around mid-May(?) this year, PC players couldn't get games a majority of the time due to low pop. And no, of course it can't be turned off, at least not by PC versions. Apparently that's an option for console shitters, the rest of us just have to deal with them being as useless as an asshole on our elbow.
Of course, I've had some proper Gamepass players who understood the basic concepts of "don't run off like a flaming retard", played well and were fairly chill. But by god, it feels like nine times in ten, your windowlicker teammates have that little wireframe globe by their name.

It's frustrating to see the game in this state. I really do like the loop, but between the retarded design choices, the godawful story, and now the crossplay shit? Nah, fam, I'm not getting paid enough to be the Tertium Tardwrangler. I just wanna hit people with a street light.

It's great to watch them burn through their new audience after spurning VT niggas. Silly that it was something as gay as the premium currency that might have done it though. While it's funny to clown on the cash shop being feature complete at launch while the rest of the game was super glue and toothpicks, it's also completely secondary to the real problems the game faces/faced. A part of me thinks a lot of the discourse surrounding the cash shop right after launch was deliberately instigated and fueled by FS staffers gunning for distraction ops.

I've been out of the loop for almost a year. I had no idea the numbers dipped that low. Games as a service by the way lmao.

@Mooger Meng reply isn't working but the Tertium Tardwrangler is so fucking good I made a Vet just for that name.

Reporting for duty, SAH!

Glad to be of service! If he isn't running with squads of Ogryn, he just isn't living up to the name.
Also, his pay is still going to suck, lol.

I don't think being angry over the cash shop was/is just a meme. Choosing to put so much effort into that over keeping the game as a whole stable and enjoyable is a symptom of the rot. Not the root cause, sure, but it spoke volumes about where their priorities were at the time (and likely, continue to be now).

Oh, wow. I hadn't looked at the numbers, either, but that January drop is brutal. I can certainly believe that crossplay got shoehorned in because they panicked over it.
Just spitballing here, but maybe if you lazy assholes didn't release a rickety piece of shit and drug your feet on attempting to remedy the many technical problems your players had, we wouldn't have gotten to this sad state of affairs.

Thinking on it a little more, it's frustrating because this is the closest 40K has to a casual, pick-up-and-play multiplayer game. Sure, the mechanics are fairly in-depth, but up till about Medium difficulty you can not worry over every autistic detail and just get by, as long as you have a decent build and most of your neurons are firing. Leave Hard and V Hard for those who want to really dig in to the minutiae of the game and their builds, tone down the RNG on the crafting, shore up the engine/netcode so it's not as much of a mess on the technical side... If that were the state of things to begin with, I don't think it would have imploded like it had.
And, yeah, I understand that the initial skill trees were a carbon copy of the ones from Vermintide 2 since that was all they had to work with, but hey, all of the Ubersriek Five had a full compliment of classes when their game released. Having to wait near on to a year to turn your shooty Vet into Merc Kruber is a wee bit of a blunder.

Poor wording on my part. What I meant to say was that the cosmetic shop has no bearing on the quality of rest of the game but you're absolutely correct about priorities. The game could be good but the shop could be ass and the game would still be good. Likewise, the game could be ass, the shop could be super polished, but the game would still be bad. When the DT came out, the CEO of FS sneeded hard and hid behind some faggot games journalist while pretending that people were only upset about the cash shop without mentioning how woefully barebones the actual game was. This is why I said it's a convenient deflection.

The game didn't change much during both closed betas. Going into the prerelease "beta", they had five months of feedback that was ignored in its entirety. Every problem that was pointed out during those betas came to pass. What got me though was that before DT, FS was finally doing well with VT2 after years of fucking around and doing nothing so I had some misplaced optimism.

The gear loop is awful.

>spam buy grey weapon until one with good enough base stats drops
>upgrade until you hit three or more undesirable perks/blessings that you can't reroll your way out of
>repeat but now 300k dockets poorer

Red gear is bad, mmkay?

Red (veteran) gear in VT2 was unnecessary and boring but served a purpose: the end of the grind. Past that, you were playing for the sake of playing. Red gear has no place in a live service game as that kills the grind but this game is the most piss poor excuse for a live service and I used to play Destiny.
