Yeah this is complete bullshit in framing. They "almost captured Berlin" in the same way the entire US Army did. Was a possibility until State and the JCOS decided to hang back and let the Soviet's have it. Second, they didn't build up a reputation of stealing German vehicles to transform themselves from an ID to a MD. In March 1945 the unit received orders to beeline to Berlin and grabbed everything with a motor to move from the Rhine to the Elbe. Crossing the Rhine they seized any abandoned German vehicles to make more time and started calling themselves 'the ragtag circus'. That was in late March. They reached the Elbe on the 13th of April, made a bridge head, and asked for permission to advance. They were told hold fast, because that territory was considered Russian territory per the Yalta Conference (Thank you, FDR, you fellow traveler fuck).

So that's a cool unit that has a storied history from the Hedgerows to Cobra to Bastonge to Hurtgen. But better reduce it to a meme.

I know about this unit I never heard of until five minutes ago because it's really easy to find the article he ripped four paragraphs from, which is a strange retelling of the 83rds story mixed with quotes from an interview with a radio lineman named Frank Frauver. Frank was in the unit but I can't find a full transcript of any interview. That's the only source of "rag-tag circus" I could find, and Frank clearly frames it as an in joke between the guys. The division it self voted on Thunderbolt previously that year.

So good job reducing the history of a whole division into a meme for click bait with no research

It's kinda funny watching them float around in their little bubble thinking they're important. "We're journo scum!" They shout with glee. To start, the into was some very moral faggy propaganda granted this interview involved United 24 so it makes sense.
Ani asked the first question and he stumbled hard just trying to ask the dude what aircraft he flys. For the rest of the interview that I saw he asked very short and simple questions like “What’s your story”.
Due to the shitty translator Pig did editing cuts where he jumped in to explain the pilot’s responses and some info they found out later. Unfortunately Pig also decided to make it all about himself in the process and inserting his unfunny humor.
The only thing I’ll really give them is that they never interrupted the pilot when he was talking.
TLDR: A narcissist and a very socially awkward dude squandered a good interview.
