Yeah, I know

They should still pump the brakes on his shit, because it's clear as fucking crystal that nobody is interested in DC at all and the well is poisoned is my point. On top of that, there is already Superhero fatigue and I don't think James Gunn has nearly the amount of popularity these executives think he does. The Suicide Squad was a flop if I remember correctly.
Gunn's Suicide Squad went straight to streaming didn't it? I mean I guess you could call that a flop. Same with Peacemaker, what a pile of shit that was (at least I assume so, I only made it halfway through the second episode).

But people are going to cream themselves when Gunn's Superman trailer comes out with a Rush or ZZ Top or whatever 70s rock band he hasn't mined out yet. and by that point they'll just be able to say, "hey, we're not Marvel!" and people will see it because what the fuck else are teens going to do in the summer.

What is irksome to me is that Zaslav took it all over right when the fucking template foe success was handed to him on a silver platter, and instead he just decided to double down on their MCU-but-even-more-retarded strategy. I mean Joker made well over a billion (a  real billion, not a Disney "billion") on a $55M budget and minimal marketing. Now I'm not a Joker fanatic, it was a good movie, a hell of a lot better than I expected (having de Niro in it was way too on the nose, but otherwise it was good, with a ton of laughs). I mean I guess that's not REALLY a superhero movie, but it easily could've been. It's just a small movie made by competent people who actually fucking cared about what they were making. I'm sure the sequels will suck as they will shoehorn in Lady Gaga and a bunch of shitskins and faggots, because Zaslav is just Iger-lite, but who knows. I do know there's a miniscule chance for me to pay to see it while there's zero chance I'll see any of Gunn's garbage (well, pay to see).

I suspect Gunn will be the same as Snyder and will get 3 movies out before everyone realizes they're the same old trash again and abandons them.

Actually, it was released both in theatres and streaming on HBO Max simultaneously similar to WW1984, both released during the pandemic, as WB was hoping that this plan would benefit the company, but it didn't.

Going to see it with a friend who for context is largely underwhelmed by Marvel's offerings thus far but enjoyed both the first Doctor Strange (mostly for the effects) and Black Widow. I'm curious what they'll think of this since it was their suggestion and I suspect it might be a case of hooked in by the trailers.

The bots paid by Warner, you mean.

The film is going to flop just as all the others
Well yea, and that's because Warner (along with Comcast and Disney) also owns some stake of Rotten Tomatoes, which explains why they hired bots to give their movies less negative reviews. They don't hire critics who actually do their jobs, they hire posers that try to act as if they are critics. This is why Armond White is still a better critic than any other modern day critic these days.

Every DC movie has flopped, maybe not Aquaman, but that one was because of the cockroach eaters so doesn't count.

But they still keep doing those massive flops anyway. There's no hope, capeshit will exist forever.
Aquaman was dumb fun, which was what it was supposed to be. The fact that fucking Aquaman made more money than Superman or Batman's respective movies is telling.

With that said, I don't have faith for its sequel, because DC's audience is waning, and the whole Amber Heard chicanery.
Give or take really. There's not even a chance in hell where it can break even worldwide. It's further proof that aside from most Batman movies (this includes Joker), which have proven to be more successful as respective standalone movies, DC is not good with kickstarting their own universes. Batgirl has long been cancelled, Blue Beetle is already dumped in mid-August where most kids are back at school, and The Flash is already written off as a flop (as with BvS, Justice League, Birds of Prey, WW1984, the Suicide Squad duology, Black Adam and the recent Shazam sequel), even a few years before its actual release. Warner should just cut their losses and move on.
The thing is, Batman works as a character because he's very grounded. He doesn't have super-abilities like Superman or Wonder Woman, but at the same time, has so much going for himself as a human that Diana nor Clark have. Nevermind that most of his villains are just as grounded; they're either mentally ill, egotistical, associated with the Mafia, or just have a lot of resources at their disposal.

The Suicide Squad was a flop, but it was an unfortunate victim of circumstance. Not only was DC churning out crap movies, along with what happened with the pandemic, but no one knew if this movie was a sequel, or a reboot, or whatever.

I find it perplexing that Zaslav cancelled Batgirl because it would tarnish the DC brand, when he had three movies back to back (Black Adam, Shazam 2 and The Flash) that came out that not only lost a bunch of money for the studios, but arguably tarnished the brand just as much if not more than Batgirl might have.

At least there was a level of interest with the Batgirl film, and with Brendan Fraser, who just won an Oscar for Best Actor not long ago, playing Firefly, that would have brought more interest, no matter how trash the film is.

These business decisions are just so ridiculous, it does concern me how these people got into these positions in the first place.

keep in mind we don't know how bad it was. if they went with those three but thought batgirl would be even worse... hu boy that just makes me want to see it more.

I'm gutted that Gotham Knights is coming to an end. One episode still to come and then that will be it - forever! This week we got to see the Court of Owls having a celebratory fancy dinner in anticipation of their [inevitable] victory. Lots of champagne glasses, plates full of food. And every last one of them wearing their full-face masks. You might supposes that they must remove them to eat and drink but it's pretty much established in this show that the masks stay on. The exception that proves the rule being Harvey's squeeze who makes a big show about removing hers being a big deal. So... I guess it's just food for looking at.

Cassandra Killian double crosses her daughter - the other Librarians would be so disappointed in her. Harvey Dent is fantastically unintimidating. They make him threaten the mayor who looks a full head taller than him. I thought Misha might just be really little so I looked it up. He's 5'11" so they were deliberately filming it to make him look iddy-biddy. Why? I don't know - perhaps he paid off the director as part of a humiliation fetish.

Brody died but now he's alright again. And immortal. His mum has resurrected long dead talons from decades past and sends them to murder the gang in prison. I can't help wondering how effective they'll actually be just dropped in the modern world without warning. I mean sure - can't be killed and trained in deadly sword use. But aren't they going to be a bit "wait, is that a car? Why are people talking into these little rectangular things? How do I open this freaking door - there's no handle! What do you mean 'key card?"

Stephanie Brown kissed a girl and she liked it. And she wore a hood and Harper said "lets go spoil their party!" Get it? Because Stephanie Brown is going to be Spoiler. Despite appearing on the promotional poster as Batgirl.

And the most egregious girl beats up man twice her size trope I've seen in ages as the two of them take on high end security guards quite literally three times their weight and body check and slam them around.

And Duella is finally pushed past her acting limits. It was a heroic effort. She stayed believable long past most of the others. But like the horse in Animal Farm or John Henry against the steel driving machine, there's only so much a mortal can do. Faced with one of the worst scripts ever made, her credibility finally caved. She's a trooper though - she'll be back next episode bravely emoting through the weight of the show's direction.

It's a shame this show wont get a second season. I want to see Stephanie's dad go full villain. I'll give the show props for one thing, though - the villainess poisoning her immortal husband knowing that he wont resurrect until after he's been buried is messed up and at the same time quite elegant.

Saw the Flash. Pretty bad at a lot of points but honestly not as bad as I thought it would be. Effects are poor, anyone with even a bare minimum knowledge of time travel in media can see what's coming, nostalgia pandering shameless, if I see that fucking tear on Erza Miller's face ever again I may scream, I also physically flinched every time that actor touched a woman given his recent nonsense.

BUT.

Honestly an average superhero comedy. Not great. Not good. But watchable for a lot of people. I had the misfortune to be sat next to one of them as he sniggered at most of the points he was supposed to even those telegraphed so hard a 5 year old could see what was coming.

Also I will unreservedly admit to laughing that after Supergirl saved a helicopter from crashing Zod slammed through the thing like the Koolaid man, killing those she saved as a literal aside.

Here is your new Superman and Lois bro.

Don't think I've seen Corenswet in anything but I've liked Rachel Brosnahan in what I've seen her in.

also fun seeing snyderfags seethe as it finally sets in that Cavill and Snyder aren't coming back

To reiterate, on one hand, I'm glad Snyderfags are coping and seething that neither Cavil, Adams nor Snyder are coming back. On the other, Rachel as Lois Lane is complete miscasting. She is a great actress, but she looks like she would've been better in another movie.

unless you're a coomer who thinks anything below a G cup is 'flatchested', I'm not sure how you can consider her to be flat.

Rachel Brosnahan is white, dark-haired, and curvy, not really sure how she's miscast here.

I may have jumped the gun there as I admittedly haven't heard of her until this morning. But yes, at least they are making Snyderfags seethe.

No way, the door is still even more open than it ever was. Imagine a movie where Corenswet's Superman travels to the Snyderverse and meets Cavill's Superman and they team up to fight the Anti-Monitor. SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY. Yeah it's a good time to be a DC fan, wouldn't want to be in a MCUck's shoes right about now.
