Well it worked when DC made Luther POTUS during Dubya Administration. Granted back then it was mostly done to not publicly pick sides and instead going with the third write in option.
Remember when he, hopped up on roids/kryptonite bath salts jammed his tongue down Waller’s throat?

God I fucking loved Superman/Batman, insane comic.

Did anyone saw the peacemaker show with John Cena?
I stood about two episodes and then never watched anything further. It was so bad that not even my usual OCD need to learn what happened kicked and I didn't even bother to read episode summaries to answer questions. Some of the worst TV I have seen with some of the very least likeable characters.

I quite like the sound of that to be honest, echoes of Superman vs. the Elite with him insistent in the face of other's opinions that he will stick to his ethical approach, cloned / bizarro superman was done well in Young Justice and gives him someone on his level to fight, Luthor smart enough to keep his fingers clean and play the PR game. If they can avoid casting Amy Adams as Lois, that's another point in its favour. I see no reason in the above not to keep an open mind. And it's not an full origin story which is smart.

Of course James Gunn helming it is a concern. But he's not incompetent, he just does stuff I don't like. If he directs a script I think is alright, it could be good.

that sounds like absolute dog shit. first of all FUCK YOU James Gunn for making Superman out to be a fucking pussy in his own movie. so every other hero thinks he's a little soyboy cuck faggot, laughing at him behind his back? go to hell. and then he wins them over in the end by ... NEEDING THEIR HELP TO FIGHT BIZARRO?! you son of a fucking bitch. and so what the world we open in is an edgy superhero world so you're doing Kingdom Come thematically in your FIRST movie like a lazy idiot without an original thought in your body just so in 10 years you can remake this movie as that and be a legacy sequel that is also a remake and be The Force Awakens of the DC Universe? if he's bizzaro anyways, why the fuck bother with the ultraman identity shit? and even arresting Supes? why over complicate it. just make a clone of superman that lex and general lane conspire amongst themselves to have him go make superman look like an asshole. then he all the sudden can't be controlled and goes full bizarro as he deteriorates. I always wanted President Lex but in today's climate this is horrible it will be about Trump. it already sort of was unintentionally but now he HAS been president and every movie including the last Wonder Woman was literally about him I don't want that ever. Supergirl isn't already around, so her trajectory is to show up in this one as a stinger, then in her movie which is coming soon, since it's adapting Woman of Tomorrow she's just instantly leaving? are you retarded?

how could anybody think this doesn't sound terrible?

first of all take that outcast shit and throw it out the window. supes is maybe only a few years active and the other DC heroes like and respect him for his optimism and attitude and that he can also kick some major ass when he's needed. they think he's a little goofy because he's got a corny sense of humor and stuff but like he's an endearing weirdo who can get serious when he needs to, but is a major sweetheart. maybe he's the first flat out Alien hero (at least publically) so he's unique. lex and the military frame him, and position it as maybe he was an alien sleeper agent. they send in the Authority to show earth's heroes are better and will save us from him (bizarro). superman vs the elite plays out because they give no fucks about collateral damage and are beating bizzaro to death and everyone including the JLI think they're killing supes, debate and prepare to stop them and at that moment clark shows up and saves bizarro after bizarro beat him up earlier. bizarro dies helping supes beat the authority and literally teach them some manners but the other heroes show up and rally behind him too.

lex hates superman because not only is he a better man than him, but he wanted to be the first person to make first contact. not the first person an alien spoke to, but he's the first to reach out and speak to THEM. Superman's arrival ruined his lifelong dream and he's seething and wants him dead. the end stinger is he's been talking to brainiac and bizzaro was made from some technology he learned from him in exchange for unknown things

give Supergirl the outcast shit in her first movie. because she's a fish out of water she's overwhelmed by earth and thinks it's weird, the other heroes think she's weird but she's clark's family so they accept her. they come to all love each other in the end based on whatever the fuck that movie is. she finds a new family, but that said by the end of the movie she decides earth is now her home but she's a teenager and clark tells her she can get away for a little while Earth will be fine, if this world is so great, what are the others like? but take the dog he wanders the stars for fun sometimes he's gone weeks at a time. you can keep each other safe then in her second movie you adapt woman of tomorrow.

actually real shit I would have been happier if this movie was a stealth supergirl movie in the first place and was just clark helping her fit in and not be an outcast over this garbage where it's him

Probably one of my favourite Superman/Batman dynamics. Going from that 'Oh shit' moment when Clark tells Luthor 'That's my best friend you just killed' to Supes zipping off before Kara can even finish saying that Batman can still be saved so he can demand Bruce join him and Lois for dinner.

“That was my best friend and you just killed him.”

That comic did the work in bringing back their friendship to the modern age, cause post-Crisis we all know Steel became Clark’s bro and Batman got upset cause his best friend/son/little brother Dick Grayson was slamming orange juice.

But that comic, no ambiguity, no Dark Knight Returns BS, they’re brother-men and that comic was glorious.

“We can take them.”

“You always say that.”

I always forget that Starfire and Black Lightning were just there during the Captain Atom fight, I don't think they even have any dialogue. There must have been an awkward conversation with Dick afterwards.

Batmand and Superman are at their best when they're total bros.

If i remember correctly, Superman’s inner monologue was incredibly dismissive of Starfire, which is based. Clark’s at his best when he is the big good but he’s not perfect, he’s got that same stubbornness that Batman has.

Their friendship works because of the history and they are very similar once you subtract the angst and optimism, both men look alike and can switch places seamlessly, both were JL part-timers, both are stubborn to a fault, both prefer working alone except for their sons/surrogate sons, both are the apex of their species, both have prestigious legacies that they stand in opposition to (doctor father and scientist father), preferring the beliefs of their adoptive parents and both are Truth and Justice made flesh, an alien star-child who works as one of the two good journos on the planet and the other is a wealthy businessman who chooses to be an eternal lawman every night.

The Thomas Wayne and Jor-El retcon while cheesy in an endearingly Silver Age way is the perfect example of the series goal.

"I've seen my own homeworld laid waste. If you have anything to do with the destruction of this planet, then you must answer for this!"
"Starfire. One of the Teen Titans. Superboy speaks highly of her."
*Proceeds to pile drive her into Captain Atom*
"I'll have to speak to Superboy about his character judgement."

I love Starfire, but that was a satisfying panel. Also loved how, throughout the entire fight, Bruce and Clarks' inner monologues are about how much they admire each other and how it's reflected in some lesson Papa Kent and Jim Gordon taught them.

“Stay inside, play with your dog and get off the comms.”

The second story was great, even if it was more a Trinity story. One of the best depictions of the three, Wonder Woman as the middle ground/wrangler is very fitting. So funny that Batman went behind Clark’s back and pulled “teacher teacher” level move.

Clark’s legendary rage was on display in the “Supergirl from Krypton”, he was ready to rip and tear a few times, especially when Artemis was gonna strike Kara or when those dudebros were eying up Kara.

Batman, despite his paranoia being the only one of the three who didn’t claim to know “what was best” for Kara was a nice touch.

I hope the Lois reveal isn't just literally the one from all star, although it's good there. I'd probably set it up where Lois thinks Clark is just full of shit and fucking with her about stuff all the time. but he's dead serious just super casual about it.

like an exchange about lex would be something early in the movie that plays like
"how could a guy born and raised in this city be born so evil"
"he wasn't"
"clark, for a reporter you sure are a shitty fact checker every biography and profile in years proves you wrong, hell I wrote one"
"and for the record lois, he wasn't always like this"
"how would you know?"
"well he used to be my best friend"
"oh bullshit, Clark he's from smallville? Was friends with you? yeah and I bet you're superman, too huh?"
"Sure am lois"
*she just shakes her head and ignores him*

and then you pepper the movie with odd exchanges like that where Clark is telling her total true shit even if its nothing important to the story like that is but she constantly just thinks he's trying to play nonsense straight as a joke that never lands.

then in the end shed basically just be shocked, then mad that he lied to her and he could point out no I actually have told you I'm superman before. but for this movie being set in a world of already established heroes it'd be funny if she never believes him about normal sounding shit

I like the cockiness of the post-Crisis version, that bled over to the Animated Series.

“I don’t know how you do it Kent.”

“You wanna know my secret? The truth is, I’m Superman and I’m using that to cut you out of the byline.”

He delivered that with a shit-eating grin and it’s glorious. Clark being a chad is great, the hiding in plain sight is better when he isn’t cartoonishly goofy.

I use to love DC so much……. I wanna say that this sucks and be mad about it but… I’m just so numb to all this and can’t even been bothered to fake anger….. Considering how badly everything DC is doing has been lately I can’t imagine how this company is going to last the next few years.

I can't really be mad at this because literally any adaptation of crisis on infinite earths 99% of every universe involved has to die that's just the story. Doesn't mean shit really. What am mad about is the movie sucked. and with Gunn that stuff will not be back just ignoring it at some point which without him would have happened regardless if they died in crisis

I prefer mullet supes. do that instead. also where is his cape? Batman looks fucking ridiculous no excuse for that look. Wonder Woman... sort of looks alright but why does she have Jason Momoa Aquaman tats? they're 25 years too late for their take on Ultimate Marvel, and 12 years since they decided they should turn all of DC into their take on ultimate marvel, and ran it back to what it was before in 5
