James Gunn already made the first villain of the DC reboot the incel terrorist parody of Critical Drinker leading a January 6th like army of toxic males.
Potential audiences fall into 3 categories.

The biggest group (75% of people who might click on 'Creature Commandos' on streaming) have no idea who critical drinker or any of those people are and so these references just seem awkward and like a joke you don't get or just like really lame and tedious villians.

The next biggest group (20%) are probably fans of those people (critical drinker etc.) he's has hundreds of thousands of subscribes (I think) and the cross-over audience of people who would watch one of his YouTube slop videos and also watch james gunn animated slop is high so you're insulting a pretty big chunk of your audience.

The third group (5% of the audience), are terminally online people obsessed with owning le chuds who will cream themselves seeing this. This is such a tiny miniscule group that making a show pandering to them is odd.

I’ve always been baffled by how people at WB hold that opinion. Sure, it’s fine for random, casual fans to think Superman is boring or that Batman should only be "realistic" and "gritty". It’s expected that casual fans won’t know beyond a surface level. The issue is that the people making these movies, and the ones calling the shots, are dumb enough to think the same. I facepalmed hard when Snyder said so, and he was the lead of the DCEU.
WB and DC aren't exactly known for their great management.

In saying this, a large issue for DC compared to Marvel was how well known their characters were/are in pop-culture, and how that unfairly breeds stigma against them.

I think Robin and Aquaman are the best showcase of how classic DC really ruined 90-00s adaptations. Aquaman has consistently felt like a compensation character because everyone threw shit at him due to the Super Friends. The only Aquaman that has felt genuine is Brave & The Bold, will also give credit to Mamoa for being mostly fun. Every time they try really hard to make him a super badass.

Robin was the butt of 500 gay and pedo jokes, making every Batamn writer avoid him in adaptations. I will actually give Warner credit for forcing him into BTAS, otherwise, Timm and Dini took the Robin sucks stance and would have left him out. It really wasn't till Teen Titans 03 and Young Justice (2011) that Robin suddenly became the coolest DC character.

Superman and Batman are products of their adaptations. The Donner Superman films got hijacked half-way through and derailed Supes into the lame duck of today. Sadly, STAS was not prominent enough to save him, especially since every film after would be a dud and Smallville is Smallville. Nowadays Injustice is the most prominent story Superman has, unfortunately.
Batman, as stated before, got screwed by West, saved by Burton, screwed again by Schumacher, then saved by Nolan. Now we are stuck with Nolan

5% of James Gunn fans online are unironically trannies and male feminists who are getting into Internet sissy fights with Pajeets Zack Synder fans on Twitter. The pajeets might be winning against DC male feminists because even normies are noticing James Gunn is a hack and his DC movies/shows are flopping.
Well the evil Nazi chuds in this show are... Oddly a colorful bunch?!?
You are seeing early stage Hollywood coping over Donald Trump winning the popular because of non-whites.

DC's plans are getting so convoluted that the Teen Titans Go movie has aged perfectly; Superman's father is gonna get a Max show at this point. Also it says a lot about the success of Creature Commandos when this site isn't even interested in Alogging it 😬
It also says a lot about it when the sites I go to for streaming cartoons haven't even updated for the newest episode yet when they're on other shows (some absolute utter dogshit) like ants to sugar. Then again, maybe I'm just using the wrong sites, but they've served me well in the past so I still find it quite curious how only now they struggle.

Leftists, who for the past year have been calling for blood against jews because they put goat fuckers in a stranglehold in the middle east, will call you a nazi on twitter for thinking it was a tragedy the war memorabilia character was killed by the reddit robot, despite literally doing nothing wrong. I hate modern hollywood so fucking much.

And even they rarely support the things that cater to them.

I've thought about that before, it's a missed opportunity they've never rolled out an elseworlds ongoing like that. it would kick ass. there's plenty of variety and cool stuff you could do with golden age superman but the only stuff they've done the last 20 years were the novel It's Superman! which is very good but he's hardly in it for long stretches it's mainly about some deadbeat, War of the Worlds which is a cool little one and done where HG Wells' WotW unfolds in a golden age superman universe, and the Superman smashes the KKK book, which is fine for what it is, an update to the radio show episodes it's based on as a comic for small children but it really reads like one.

A hard boiled noir story with Clark as an investigative reporter going undercover and running across some kind of criminal conspiracy would be a really good arc. him going around beating the shit out of some hoods on the way and the people in charge trying to figure out why the fuck they can't get the guy busting up their operations killed or figure out who the hell he is.
The idea I had was “Superman meets Bioshock” it’s a raygun gothic Metropolis, WW2 just ended and the whole thing, the investigation, the secret society and Luthor, it’s all setup to a reimagined version of the story where Superman first met Luthor, in a a flying fortress, except now it’s the floating city of tomorrow.

It’d be titled “Superman: Olympus Tomorrow” in keeping with the pulp throwback and following with the noir roots, there’d be the obligatory “guy lights femme fatale’s cigarette,” except it’s Lois and Supes lights it with his heat vision.

Superman could work in a lot of settings because he doesn’t need the “extras” that other characters need, a kid falls from the sky and is found by a kindly couple, go wild.

yeah, I want more Fleischer Superman too

It’s the best look, the stern glare, the old-school strongman physique, the emblem, the Lois who is competent and keeps ups cause he’s not an OP star god. It’s perfection and if I got the reigns, it’d be a return to the Golden Age.

Each arc would get flashy titles and be self contained, just another story anybody could pick up, no need to go five years back to understand, Superman and the City of Light, Superman and Manhunter from Mars, Superman and the Bottle City, Superman: Doomsday Dilemma, Superman: Conqueror from Colu, Superman: Warriors of the Warworld.

The only gimmick would be no comic time, he’s aging alongside the run, more accurately his cast/world is aging and he’s not.

This is the shit you think up when you and your buddies are lamenting your favourites being in the mud and written by retards.

They kinda already done that to Catwoman while also turning her into a shape-shifting anthromorphic catgirl. While Batman is a medieval bat-knight.

Wish they did more things like that over yet another "Superman but Evil". But I have to admit, Catwoman transforms into anthro cats way too often to be a coincidence. Artists! I am watching you! Also, Batman is portrayed way too often as a knight when he fights more as a thief-alchemist hybrid. Stealth and gadgets are his main weapon and are complemented by his martial arts skills as opposed to a stand-your-ground-type of fighter. Superman and Wonder Woman have better knight cred than Batman.

I would be interested in a story where Superman lands in a Sword and Sorcery style Earth. Same powers and weaknesses. His vulnerability to magic would force him to find ways to counter it and perhaps learn some spells too. It would be an interesting spin. Could definitely work, better than any story where he is evil or something anyway.

I think Evil Superman has largely run its course with characters like Homelander and Omni Man. I'm somewhat hoping Superman can have a bit of a renaissance but given the current stock of comic writers I'm not expecting much, I'm honestly surprised they haven't made him into a femboy twink yet or some other nonsense.

The best example of nice Superman writing I've seen outside DC was probably with All Might in My Hero Academia, he's very much built around the Superman archetype. The Japanese have a better grasp on who he's supposed to be and what he represents.

Well, there is that other Superman show that came out... Though I will argue that the transformation is a good addition. Superman has access to alien technology afterall.

One Punch Man too. You can feel the appreciation for Superman.

Latest teaser for Superman dropped today via Gunn's Twitter:
Looks gay. Also the music is derivative and sounds like it's building up to the john williams theme so either they will be using the williams theme at some point in the movie or people will leave the cinema with a kind of musical blue balls and not really know why.
