Where in the fuck are the modern Jim Shooters to burst into these writing rooms, start flipping desks, and tell these commie fucks to draw hot chicks that lonely guys might want to buy merch of? It is INSANE that the company that owns Poison Ivy and Catwoman, two literal sex icons, is fucking fumbling the ball this hard. For fuck's sake, Julie Newmar's Catwoman costume is in the fucking Smithsonian right now because THAT many boomers spanked to it.

I'm struggling to make a kryptonite joke. Modern Harley is so stupid and awful and terrible and blah etc. She's been "modern" for years and years!

Harley's first solo series written by Karl Kesel is definitive and fucking stupidly hilarious. Wonderful clean art by the Dodsons. Later on, Gotham City Sirens (Harley, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman) by Paul Dini is adventurous and quite funny since Catwoman is the 'odd man out.'

They're all lesbos now

The Lanterns series was conceived years ago and was going to be done by Greg Berlanti of CW verse fame. Now the CW shows had their lows, but both Arrow and Flash started out strong and Arrow somewhat recovered from the slump of middle seasons later on. I'll also remind that Supergirl wasn't originally part of the CW verse either and not Berlanti. So there was good potential there. Add in the fact that he would also be working with Geoff Johns who helmed the Star Girl series (imo the best live action DC show we've had). Geoff Johns is the person who most gets comics today. He is not at all ashamed to write comic book stories and characters and has never needed to slather his work in irony to excuse it to anybody. The show was conceived as a "Space Opera" that would involve a series of Green Lanterns.

Enter James Gunn. He decided to refocus the series as a Earth-based detective story that tied into his wider vision for the Superman/Peacemaker/Etc. universe. Which I shall call the DC Poo for short.

So in the new DCP version of this show which is what we'll actually get, Gunn has brought on Tom King and Damon Lindelof as writers.

If anyone needs a primer on why that is bad I can give one, but I think most people here will already be climbing under their desks at the names.

If anyone is optimistic for this show, I shall present to you this image:

I think there plans for Diggle from Arrow to become a Green Lantern in an Arrowverse show that never happened.

No, I saw this yesterday and thought it was terrible. I was going to say "fucking terrible" but I think the trailer beat that word to death. You can add WB screwing up DC properties to the same list as death and taxes.

I watched a Nerdrotic video making fun of John Campea for saying James Gunn will leave if the merger goes through. From what I've seen so far I hope that's true.

There were. It wasn't just in the writers room, hints of it made it into the show. Though I think the Lanterns talked about here might have by this point been planned to be separate. Which would have been the right call, probably as the CW verse was on its last legs with Arrow having wrapped up in the Crisis on Infinite Worlds arc they did and Batwoman having done everything possible to kill the franchise. With Supergirl not helping by that point, either.

But I could be very wrong as I'm going by memory and maybe it was supposed to be a spin off. However, I think it was more meant to be a spin-off from Star Girl. One of the very few wobbles that show had was when they were forced to put in a rather dodgy backdoor pilot for another show with their version of a Green Lantern

Seemed to be hinting at some sort of other series (again not CW Verse) with Director Bones and various young heroes. I honestly don't know whether the Berlanti / Johns Lanterns series was going to be connected to that, to CW Verse or its own thing. I honestly would hope the latter as that would be best, imo. But I'd welcome more information as that's all I know about connections. Regardless, I will have to hear some astoundingly good things about this Lanterns show though to get me to try it. As far as I am concerned Gunn is walking poison who just destroys the projects of people better than him.
