Licenses are what keeps the game going and people love seeing a new character. You sound like the only person to complain about this.
I'll complain about this too. There's such a thing as too much shit, and it starts making the game feel like endless homework where you're always learning how to deal with something new. Plus either you powercreep shit to drive sales, like DBD does, and there's always this new MOBAlike flavor of the month thing to deal with, or you don't, and there's no real reason to ever engage with the new content. Unless it's just plain fun, like I dunno, TF2's side weapons. But that requires design chops, and the cynical route is much easier. God knows most people would read the Tomislav's description and go "Shit, sounds super fun, let me try that!". But no need for that! Here survivors, have Dark Boon buffed to the moon. Can I see an uptick in Ring Chapter sales now? It's been kinda low for a few months since we killed Sadako's fun playstyle. Thanks.
You can make an interesting character or new weapon or something actually fun, worthwhile, rewarding, you name it... Or you can just release endlessly recycled shit with slightly better numbers. Like Background Player and Champion of Light in practice do the same thing, but Champion of Light won't exhaust you for it, it will slap a slow on the killer, it's getting buffed when it's already meta AND it's licensed, so P2W. Did we need Champion of Light? Was it a perk so fun to play that it absolutely needed to be in the game? Nah man, but it drives sales, so in it goes.
In fact I'd say they're playing a little fast and loose with how busted some of the new-ish P2W perks are. Even the shills can't really justify Lara's double Agility BS to anyone with half a brain at this point. Again, not creative, not fun, literally just a more powerful version of old Spine Chill/An alternative to Agility that DOESN'T exhaust even though it is VERY much an I win chase for free button. Dark Boon being changed into old Bitchmade For This follows suit. Everyone already knew these perks were so busted they had to go. Hell, they know because BHVR told them. There is no way this and having the DBD shill defense force running damage control 24/7 isn't a cynical cashgrab. It works, I suppose.
And there's also the whole thing where shitty updates just kill games overnight now. I'd still play TCM if I could play the version where Hiker was actually fun to play, or when Hands was viable. It's not like we can just roll back to those and play them. You will be a punching bag for survivors in pretty much every assym and you'll enjoy it or you'll fuck off back to CoD or try Rivals out or something.
A lot of the time this endless content conveyor belt approach with obviously skewed balancing decisions is just made to drive sales. I know it's certainly the case for DBD. And I'm old enough to remember that one time they buffed Nasus to the moon in League of Legends, released at the time one of the most expensive skins for him, then nerfed him to the ground a month after.
