Dead by Daylight and other Asymmetric Slasher Games - Discuss the games and the autistic/entitled communities around them

Update to Haste & Hindered
As we move towards the 8.7.0 release, we wanted to thank everyone for trying out the PTB and for sharing valuable feedback. We wanted to go over some notable changes you can expect.

Haste and Hindered Stacking

The community has shared a lot of valuable feedback regarding the Haste and Hindered Stacking changes as tested on the PTB. After careful consideration by the Design team, we will not be moving forward with all of the changes. We will be moving forward allowing Haste and Hindered to stack again. The perks you saw in the PTB will continue to go Live in 8.7.0 while we monitor their usage on Live servers. The exception will be Champion of Light; this will receive changes prior to release. Keep an eye out for the Patch Notes for full details!

Abandon Option Trial Outcomes

With the new Abandon option added for Killers, we’ve noticed there is some confusion around the results on different scenarios:

Killer

Scenario #1 – If all Survivors Are Bots:

  • The Killer can Abandon the match without receiving a Disconnection Penalty and the match is considered a DRAW.
Scenario #2 – If the match has continued for 10 consecutive minutes without a generator being completed or regressed:

  • The Killer can Abandon the match without receiving a Disconnection Penalty and the match is considered a LOSS.
DEV NOTE: Due to a bug, the endgame screen will currently show Survivors as sacrificed. This will be fixed in an upcoming Bug Fix patch.

Survivor

Scenario #1 - When all other remaining Survivors left alive in the Trial are bots:

  • The last Survivor can Abandon the match without receiving a Disconnection Penalty and the match is considered a DRAW.
Scenario #2 - When all Survivors alive in a Trial are in the Dying State:

  • The Survivors can Abandon the match without receiving a Disconnection Penalty and the match is considered a DRAW.
So to cut through the bullshit:
if you decisively win as a killer developers want you to suffer vs bots or it's a draw
if survivors don't do their objective for 10 minutes the killer loses

if a survivor's team DCs he gets rewarded with a draw, even though it's a sure loss
if survivors are about to lose they can abandon for a free draw, even though they're all downed already

Infantilization and double standards, as usual. Personally I don't care about MMR, if anything it benefits killers with less sweaty matches at higher MMR. But it shows the developers' intentions.

Edit: Am I understanding it right that Boon: Dark Theory is still getting the buff? Despite the feedback of how retarded it is and how even the devs' own justification for it was reverted?

Fun fact.

In IdV survivors vote like in TF2 on surrendering and that's a Defeat if majority are slugged or dead. Majority escaped = win or draw but less rank points for the surrendee.

a hunter can surrender after 240s in a match and depending on how many kills vs alive/escaped they still get the WIN.

BHVR really wants killer players to suffer ten minutes of no gen's done before they humbly allow them to exit their shit gamedesign and infant survivors.

It feels like the devs are just afraid of being called biased towards killers. EGC as killer is so frustrating, many times I just want to click on the quit button to get over with it. This 10 minutes wait is an insult.

Some recent entitlement on this issue:

Also BHVR is backtracking again:

They must be making shit up at this point.

A streamer triggers the surrender via 3-gen and survivors cry about it?
"uhhh the killer actually loses when the survivors don't do the objectives for 10 minutes! It's a bug! We will fix it!"

They make it impossible to officially lose as survivor?
"uhhh it actually doesn't mean anything it's just for our internal tracking!"

So why even tell the players that they lose or win when it doesn't affect anything? I do think they're lying about this. Similarly to when MMR was public then suddenly it became a trade secret.

It's most likely just another easy injure hard to down killer.

Claw Traps being removeable by just filling a bar is utter garbage since by the time you reach a trapped survivor they just removed the trap and now you must m1 them.

Bow Drone being above her shoulder might make mindgames harder to do due to the drone hovering a bit over her.
Why fuck with a dash and then a skillshot that might do nothing even when it hits, when I can do two dashes with Wesker? Why use an "easy injure hard to down" killer, when I can just use an "easy to down" killer? Why try to use a killer that requires learning two skills, for what will inevitably be worse results than killers who only need learning one?

Are they anticipating that all the FNAF tourists are gonna be survivor players?
It feels like an inherent issue of asymmetry. Why appeal to one person and piss off four, when you can appeal to four and piss off one? They're too big at this point to share Video Horror Society's fate (aka all the killers leaving because they had absolutely fuck all to do besides get beaten up by survivors, who got all the fun things to do). What's more, where else are you gonna go? Texas Chainsaw Massacre is basically on the ropes now, from what I've heard. Identity V would also not be an easy switchover; I've tried giving it a day or two so far, and completely bounced off it with how confusing everything felt.

I thought they already did this with the gross abomination character voiced by the tranny?
That was the killer called the Unknown, which was a literal skinwalker that had male and female skins.

The tranny that goes by "Zoey" voiced the skinwalker ended up dying from some sort of medical complication before the troon could sue BHVR because "Zoey" felt tricked.

I did discover that the black tranny wasn't the first one in the game, technically that would go to this costume for the brazilian guy survivor.

But that's a crossover reskin and technically doesn't count, as she's from Rainbow Six Siege (which is its own can of worms I reckon). This is the first one made for the game, though...
