Dead pupper mega thread

https://wmms.iheart.com/content/201...ng-live-puppy-to-turtle-in-front-of-students/

This is really horrifying. There's literally no reason for junior high students to see this. It serves no educational value whatsoever. I don't care if the puppy had a deformity and was sick. If it was going to die you euthanize it humanely. You don't feed it live to a turtle in front of children to teach them about the circle of life.

I'm surprised that some parents are defending this. It actually didn't happen during class but during a supplementary lesson after school. The teacher had previously fed other animals to reptiles.

There are always tough moments in biology class from wrapping your head around osmosis to dissecting a frog, but one teacher in Idaho gave some students a lesson they will never forget when he fed a live puppy to a turtle.

After school, Preston Junior High School science teacher Robert Crosland taught about the circle of life by letting a snapping turtle have at a live pup. Not surprisingly, he is now under investigation with animal rights activists calling the demonstration "disgusting and sick." One told the local Fox affiliate, "Allowing children to watch an innocent baby puppy scream because it is being fed to an animal. That is violence. That is not okay."

However, some parents and students are defending the teacher, pointing out that the puppy had deformities and would've died soon anyways. One student told the East Idaho Post the Crosland is "a cool teacher who really brought science to life," adding, "I loved his class because he had turtles and snakes and other cool things."

Previously, Crosland had fed guinea pigs to the snakes and turtles in his classroom, but it's not clear if they were alive or not.

In a press release, Preston Junior High explained there is now an investigation into the incident and asked parents to be patient and remember the "years of care, effort and passion" from Crosland.

Meanwhile, the superintendent called the event "a regrettable circumstance involving some of the biological specimens," and stated that it did not happen during school. The local sheriff is also looking into what occurred.

A puppy has died after falling from a 30ft cliff in Cornwall, leading to renewed calls for owners to keep their pets on leads.

The four month old black Labrador was off the lead when it fell at Polzeath on Saturday morning.

Padstow and Polzeath Coastguard cliff rescue teams were called to assist the Rock Lifeboat in rescuing the dog which had fallen from Broadagogue Cove near Greenaway.

A spokesman for Padstow coastguard said: "Rock Lifeboat recovered the dog that was sadly deceased and passed it on to Polzeath Coastguard to reunite it with its owners."

Although the cliff varies in height, Falmouth coastguard said it was around 30 feet.

Don't be a hero and try and rescue your own dog from cliff say coastguards

A spokesman said it was important for owners to take care with their animals.

"It can get very slippery and dogs race to the edge of the cliffs without knowing the dangers," they said.

A puppy rescued after he was found wrapped in plastic and abandoned on Detroit's northwest side has died, Michigan Humane Society officials said on Saturday.

A passerby found the tiny canine with dark fur Friday on a sidewalk and alerted the Humane Society, the group said in a statement on its Facebook page. The humane society has increased its reward from $2,500 to $5,000 for tips leading to a suspect.

The person wrapped most of the dog, a three-month-old male German shepherd mix, said Anna Chrisman, a spokeswoman for the nonprofit. Chrisman said further information on where the puppy was found would not be released because of the ongoing investigation.

He was taken to the Michigan Humane Society Detroit center for medical treatment and the Society posted on their Facebook Saturday that the puppy did not make it through the night.

"Our team worked diligently to ensure he had the best possible care, and he passed away surrounded by caring staff at an emergency clinic around 4 a.m. Though he was only in our care for a short time, our team is happy he was able to experience love before crossing the rainbow bridge."

Anyone with information about this case should call 800-SPEAKUP.

A WOMAN has been left heartbroken over the death of her pedigree cocker spaniel puppy after cruel dog rustlers stole him and tried to gouge out his microchip.

Ten-month-old Bentley was stolen from his kennel along with five other cocker spaniels in November last year.

The suffering orange-coloured pup was handed in to a vet's practice after being found wandering the streets some 80 miles from his home two months later.

He was found to have a deep "funnel-shaped" hole in his neck and was nursed back to health but collapsed suddenly and died last month from an infection.

An infection caused when Bentley's captors tried to remove his microchip had tragically spread to his brain.

Devastated owner Julie Whiteley said: "He fell ill and was dead within two days.

"He stood up and wagged his tail at me then his body just went and his head hit the floor.

"I'm just so heartbroken - he was a lovely little dog."

Mother-of-two Julie, who had five other dogs stolen from her remote farmhouse home near Holmfirth, West Yorks., is now offering a reward for their safe return.

One of the dogs - two-year-old bitch Cilla - is already safe at home with Julie after being found wandering just two streets away from where Bentley was found.

Cilla had a similar gash in her neck where her captors had tried to remove her microchip but is now fully recovered.

Julie has handed CCTV footage of five men she believes stole the dogs in the grounds of her home just after midnight on November 2.

Footage which is incorrectly time-stamped as 1.06am shows Bentley and Cilla in their pen looking up as two men enter and try to grab them.

All five men were caught on camera wandering around the grounds searching for a seventh dog which managed to run off during the heist.

Crufts dog show veteran Julie believes whoever stole the dogs knew they were there.

She said: "I've kept champion pedigree dogs for 40 years and never had a problem.

"But you wouldn't know I had the dogs and you couldn't find my house even with a sat nav.

"It's like they knew there were seven and they kept searching for the seventh when she ran off.

"I feel for anyone who has had a dog stolen.

"These are all show dogs but money doesn't come into it - my dogs are my life.

"I'm so worried about the other dogs - if they are willing to do that then what are they doing to the others?

"I just have to find them - it's been so long and I've heard about people using them for breeding and not looking after them.

"I wonder if they are dead - it's killing me."

Julie is offering a £5,000 reward for information which will help reunite her with the dogs.

They are a blue roan bitch Carol, aged 3, red bitch Fudge, aged 5, orange rune bitch Bijou, aged 3 and red male Storm, aged 2.

If you can help phone 07968 133227 or 01226 711207 or phone police on 101.

Throwing Gerbils in a blender has no educational merit. Showing kids animals getting eaten by animals shows an important aspect of nature. Is it wrong to teach children this lesson?
Was not aware of the natural puppy to turtle link in the food chain. Anyway, there are plenty of TV specials with actual wild animals hunting prey. This didn't teach anything except that teachers are really fucked up sometimes, and take deformed puppies to the class turtle instead of a veterinarian for euthanasia.

What was the point of this exactly? Children are aware of the fact animals eat shit, this did nothing but scare the children. You don't need to show me a puppy being eaten alive to prove to me that animals eat other animals. Those kids probably ate bacon for breakfast, I'm sure they fucking get it. Some niggas do the most and for no reason.

I was taught animals eat other animals and that's just how it works in the 3rd grade with little food chain diagrams, I didn't need to see an animal being eaten alive. If he really wanted to show them that so badly there are tons of videos on Youtube of animals eating other animals. There's no reason to defend this dude. *sigh*

It's United. They got that giant rabbit killed (and employees might have put it in a freezer at that), after all. I was going to say United should just ban animals on their flights entirely if they don't know how to treat them properly but fuck it, they don't know how to treat any living thing including people right.

It’s absolutely shocking to me that, in 2017, 18 animals died on United Airline flights whereas only 6 animals died on all other U.S. airlines combined. I understand that horrible mistakes/complications can happen, but the fact that United has a kill count 3 times higher than all other U.S. airlines combined is really telling. It speaks of outright negligence and a disregard for the safety of animals.

FUCK! That's the real story right there at the end.

And this is why I'll never take my cats on an airline.

If I had to fly anywhere with my dog I think I'd just find some other means of transport. I'm actually terrified of putting an animal on a flight.

Why would anyone think that it was ok to put a puppy in a compartment with no ventilation? The attendants must at least know it's not the place to put animals. I've actually heard stories of people being told not to hide small animals in the compartments like that because people have tried to.

My cat ate mice. I knew animals ate other animals. It's really extreme here though.

People might say "But you feed mice to reptiles". While some people really do love mice as pets it's not quite the same as a dog. People tend to have a natural soft spot for dogs. Especially puppies. They've been our companions for thousands of years.
