Dead video game series/franchises you refuse to let go

I still can't believe the original Nintendo 64 version of Conker's Bad Fur Day was less censored than the Microsoft remaster.

Alas, they'd never get away with making a game like that again in today's climate. Sunflowers with giant bouncy tits, cheery-looking sprockets that curse like sailors, an opera-singing mountain of shit, murderous teddy bears... the screech brigade would bust out the fainting couches at the first sign of floral jiggle physics.
Only because that game was, as you described, pure 90s (edge and pop culture) and repackaging it would lead to another Yooka-Laylee scenario where the final product is overhyped and ends up disappointing because of it (and bland compared to its contemporary games). Conker seems like the type of game that would thrive on people bitching about it, if to show there was a decent amount of people who give a shit about it.

Metal Arms: Glitch in the System was supposed to be a trilogy.

You were too good for this world lil' buddy.

Marvel vs Capcom is probably not dead, probably more like a comatose franchise but still dead enough to mention since it'll take years before they make a new one after the backlash MvCI got.

Ironically it improved on some of the issues that plagued its contemporaries, like the netcode. I don't think I've ever had a game I was more disappointed with, but wanted to succeed. The fact they finally added X AND Sigma into MvC is pretty much everything I wanted since as late as MvC3, but they had to shit the bed with everything else except for the basic nuts and bolts of the FG mechanics.

MvCI couldn't have come out at a worse time. Then again, I think everyone really just wants MvC4 with the Smash Bros. Infinite life cycle plan.

Speaking of Smash and the thread topic, I wanna see Sparkster make a comeback. Contra's getting a new game, so maybe's there's some hope for other dead Konami franchises.

Super Robot Wars has been dead since the Z3 duology, but I keep buying them in the vain hope that one day I’ll get something as good as the Alpha games.

The 2nd game ended on a giant cliffhanger (well, depends on which ending you get but I'm pretty sure that the cliffhanger is the canon one).
I think they still want to make the 3rd one, they just need the money :)
which could be a problem, iirc the sequel didn't fare that well and sp games are sadly not considered worth investing in (unless it's sony).
never got too deep into it, enjoyed the first back then but not a fan of the "endless run" us comics do.

I absolutely don't understand why. Like I've said, the driving is the only bad thing in the game but it's maybe 20 minutes in total.

the first trailer dropped in 2005, then was stuck development hell, finally came out in 2010 without much fanfare as a 360 exclusive (ms scrapped the windows version right around the 360 launch, which pissed a lot of people off), and was probably too highbrow for the large dudebro demographic. still remember people complaining how "boring it was and the combat sucked", completely ignoring or missing what makes the game a remedy game. the people that didn't forget about it in the meantime quite a few were complaining it wasn't open world "like they promised" and other nonsense (which is funny considering how everybody likes to shit on open world games now).
glad it got recognition it deserved - bit like crackdown - but certainly took a while.

Sparkster series. Rocket Knight adventures was a treasure.

MvCi was such a trainwreck. The fact that people at capcom thought that this character select screen is okay is hilarious. What was worse though was all the dicksuckers trying to hype this game up

I really enjoyed the Fatal Frame series when I was younger. Here's hoping they release another one.

Also I miss the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic series.

It was kind of weird to me that classic Frank West and Chris were in it considering they both got rebooted designs before and around the time MvCi came out. Not that I'm complaining since new Frank was bad and old Chris fits in with the rest of the cast better then RE 7 Chris.

Jak and Daxter. I would kill for another one (not counting Jak 4 obviously because it’s shit). Actually started replaying Jak 2 today, such a good game.

Goddamn, I remember people making fun of how Dante looked, but Frank West is a whole lot more hideous.

-The original Zoo Tycoon trilogy. Why the fuck isn't it available on Steam?

-Okami. Either another sequel, or a proper remake of it.

-The Orre Pokemon series.

Stellaris is worse than Endless Space 2.
Endless space 2 is just sooo outdated as a game. It does everything it wants good, but the formula doesnt feel good anymore.

I might check out Stellaris though.
Its not as hard to pick up as other Paradox games but its always challenging. you can make it so pretty hard without makeing it feel like the AI cheats.

I want another good Battlefield game.
there are plenty of good alternatives now. Rising storm is AWESOME and very much like the good Battlefields. Rising storm 2 vietnam is how battlefield vietnam should be.
If you have a group, those ww1 shooters are also fun as hell. Tannenberg and Verdun dont have much of a public playerbase but you can find inhouse games pretty easy and those are realy fun.

pillers of eternity. i have a feeling we wont see a third game anytime soon but i would like them to try again.
Fallout, I'd say with 4 and 76 it basically qualifies as dead.
They are just one small studio, they cant do both. Just one of you can be happy, and it looks like fallout won(or some game in the style of fallout),

Rare had much higher standing with Nintendo than they have with M$.

When the fuck are we going to get a proper Mechwarrior game? Is it so much to fucking ask? I just want a modern version of Mechwarrior 4 where I can tweak shit to my heart's content, build retarded-ass mechs with 900000 LRM launchers and destroy enemy mechs from across the map.

And don't even try to tell me about MWO.

Say the words, Boss. For old times' sake.

Bloodrayne, Ridge Racer, Descent, Dino Crisis, Rogue Squadron, Fable, Dead Space, Quake, FEAR. Also, this guy I know wants another Rumble Roses. Not that I'd ever play such degenerate filth.

Knights of the Old Republic (although considering current BioWare, fuck no, it would have to another studio like Larian is doing for BG3, and sadly Avellone left Obsidian), the flight sims like TIE fighter, the Rogue Squadron series, Jedi Knight series (although JO and JA are getting rereleases on Switch and PS4), it goes on and on. Star Wars games might as well be the definition of this thread.

It's going to be an Epic store exclusive.

So much this. I had a bout of childhood memory making with the original Roller Coaster Tycoon on Steam a few months ago, but I continue to be miffed that the old ZT series is missing. Easily one of my most played PC games as a kid.
