Dead video game series/franchises you refuse to let go

Oddworld. I know they've released two games in recent-ish years, but the first one was an underwhelming remake and the second looks like deep-fried dog shit.

They really had something good going with Exoddus and Stranger's Wrath (Munch was pretty terrible) but it seems the creator Lorne is more interested in being a hippy Jim Henson than just putting out good games.
Part of me wants to try out Soulstorm, but I’ve heard pretty much nothing about it. Anyone here played it?

But yeah, those games were fantastic. Oddysee and Stranger’s Wrath in particular are amazing. Both of which are still pretty relevant today.

I’m kinda surprised and relieved that the games didn’t seem to attract the woke crowd as it appeals to their whole “SMASH CAPITALISM” mentality. (Even though I’d argue they’re more anti-corporate)

Then again, I can see Stranger’s Wrath turning a lot of people off because it teaches that getting surgery that mutilates and alter your body so you can pretend to be something you’re not won’t solve your problems.

As far as dead series I still play, Empire Earth, More specifically Empires Dawn of The Modern World from 2003, made by Stainless Steel Studios not long before they went under in 05. Loved it back in the early 2000s and still play a game about once every 2 weeks, thanks GOG for having this game for some unknow reason.

If Capcom put those old Battle Network games on Steam I would probably buy them.
They'll probably push out collections on console, like they did with the X and Zero/ZX series

All of the dead games I like are getting games in the future. (Fable, Skate, KOTOR), but I think Star Wars the Force unleashed needs a sequel

I would love a new empire earth, or even a fan remake or port.

Call me autistic but I'm still grieving for Alphadream's bankruptcy. The Mario and Luigi rpg series was such a fun quirky blast when I was younger and I dare say Browser's Inside Story even is my favourite turn based rpg I've played :(

It was their own fault. With every entry they stripped away more and more of the rpg elements and made the humor more lolrandom Rick and Marty style reddit trash.

At the end those games were basically visual novels with poop jokes.

Fable. I started with 2 then went to 3 and finally tried Anniversary on PC. All my favorite games.

Bloodrayne. Uwe Boll with his shitty movies kinda killed any spark in the franchise. I loved the first one and I wish they brought a quirky hack-and-slash with a sexy heroine and nazies as enemies. Probably not gonna see it, cause both those things are haram.

Robot Arena was another nice one, in the sense that there's nothing else like it anywhere.

Sacrifice, cause I liked casting spells from the third person over a battlefield.

Didn't a 2D game came out for Bloodrayne, recently?

It did and it's was made by, let's google... no, fuck that, I'm just going to assume it was made by Wayforward.

I would really like to see a new Waverace 64. Blue Storm was garbage, absolute trash, the closest to a successor of WR64 is Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 and that wasn't very good either. At least it was better than Blue Storm. The closest thing to Waverace 64 is oddly enough Sega Rally Revo from 2007.

Timesplitters. Best FPS of the PS2 era, Halo can kiss my butt. Miss you baby, please come home.
I liked Halo, but I never understood why Timesplitters wasn't a bigger deal, sexy girls, silly humor, blazingly face paced action, just so much damn fun.

But it never amounted to anything bigger than a cult classic series at best even though you can tell they really hoped Timesplitters 2 would be a Halo sized hit, but Future Perfect wound up with a different publisher than 2, maybe there's some other reason for that but I can't help but wonder if it's because 2 simply didn't meet sales expectations.

Free Radical was comprised of Goldeneye alums, so they felt they had the ability to drive 8m+ units, and Eidos just wasn't doing its job with TS2. In fact, TS2 on the Gamecube almost didn't even happen because of Eidos. FP was published by EA, but it didn't pull in the big numbers because by that point, "gritty and realistic" was hot shit (Call of Duty had come out 2 years earlier and redefined expectations for FPS presentation), and cartoon spacemen shooting ducks in the balls were passe. Second Sight didn't sell well, and post-COD, no publisher wanted to touch T imesplitters. So they made Haze, which sold terribly and bankrupted them and got sold to Crytek, who put them hard at work wasting money, since that's all Crytek did.

The original team is now reformed as a new studio, and Crytek sold off the Timesplitters IP, which has made its way back to them.

Dang, Cube is what I originally played it on due to the Goldeneye connection.

Hated that shit, I've pretty much always despised Call of Duty at least after the start of Modern Warfare, give me cartoon spacemen shooting ducks in the balls any day.

Second Sight was so obviously a waste of money, I wonder why they even bothered making it.

And Haze was complete garbage too, everything that sucked about the 7th gen rolled into one package, such an incredibly massive downgrade over Timesplitters it's not even funny, it was hard to believe it was the same devs.

Yeah, they're supposed to be working on a new one finally, aren't they? I just hope they keep the cheesecake, it's not Timesplitters without that.
