Dead video game series/franchises you refuse to let go

Phantasy Star. I know there's Online, Online 2, Nova... at least in Japan, but I'm talking about the old JRPGs. Then again I'm probably hugely biased as Phantasy Star IV is one of my all time favorite games.

Breath of Fire because 1-4 were amazing (especially 3 and 4).

Rival Schools. Come on Capcom, give us more Project Justice stuff. It was so good! On that topic, BRING BACK DARKSTALKERS.

Daytona USA, Sega Rally, I think Ridge Racer is pretty much dead now too...

Klonoa. It's cute and fun, and I want more.

Armor Core by from software, I know they're bread and butter is the souls series. Believe it or not, there was a time when they came out with one of the most deepest mech game franchises out the ever.
Dark souls 3 is the last souls game, so Armor Core probably isnt dead.

Last game they made was Verdict Day and that was like 2-3 years ago. I honestly would love to see From Software focus on making another Armored Core game where we just blow shit up in a giant mech while listening to good music.

Armored Core not being dead can be true though with all that said, one series by From Software that is truly dead would be Kings Field. It was the first game and series From Software made and the last game they made was released around 2001 or 2002. The only thing they took from that series and placed in other works was the Moonlight sword and Seath. It would be nice to have another atmospheric sort of first person game where you swing a sword or mace at a skeleton as you explore an oppressive ruin or system of caves.

There hasn't been a new Shadow Tower installment either since the 2000s. That was a pretty cool series too, even though we only got two games.

e: well, a lot of what they did with King's Field and Shadow Tower carried over into the Souls series and Bloodborne, so I'm not too disappointed about them being left by the wayside if it means we get the greatest game series of all time!

That would also be nice, having another Shadow Tower. First game would be mistaken for a King's Field despite having some good differences. The second game upped the ante by including guns. The setting of the second game apparently implies the place you are in is some sentient place considering the final thing you kill is a giant heart. This link from GiantBomb says it came from another planet and considering how it is, it may or may not be the same place as the first tower outside of also having an item with an eye and a demon lady with a scythe. If From Software thinks of making another King's Field or Shadow Tower, I'd buy it as soon as it gets released.

I know I've been posting a lot in this thread, but Rygar needs to be remade. Diskarmor > Blades of Chaos any day and everyday.

Star Wars - Jedi Knight series.

Not only does nobody seem to give a turd about releasing a new game for the series, its now no longer canon. Kyle Katarn, you shall not be forgotten.

Ecco the motherfucking Dolphin.

Where's my new Ecco the Dolphin game!? I've lost all hope.

The original Sega Genesis games (Ecco the Dolphin and Ecco the Dolphin: Tides of Time) were your standard ultra-hard, memorize-everything-or-you-will-die games. However, the underwater environments, puzzles and a crazy sci-fi plot (time traveling meets xenomorph invasion) made them very unique games. In the first game you travel into prehistory, and swim in oceans full of crazy prehistoric life. In the second game, you travel into the far future, where dolphins fly, have psychic abilities and the ocean is sentient.

"OH GOD WHAT IS THIS-"

When the series went into 3D with "Defender of the Future", I thought the franchise had a good chance to continue. Here's a clip of a level for an idea of gameplay:

Unfourtunately the series has been dead since 2000, with no signs of revival. Sega has re-released the 2D games, but there hasn't been a port for the 3D one. The creators of the original franchise started a kickstarter for a spiritual successor called "Big Blue", but it failed.

Demo: http://www.playchemy.com/games/7

They've since said that they will relaunch a smaller kickstarter, but that was years ago and nothing has come of it. :( Sad face.

The old Bioware RPGs like KOTOR 1 and 2, and Jade Empire were a lot of fun and I've always wished for sequels (I know the Old Republic is a 'sequel' but I don't play MMOs much).

I can't bring myself to give up on Mega Man, loved the series in all its incarnations from the time I started playing vidya.

I always wanted a sequel to Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars since it was my first RPG, really doubting we'll ever see that at all though. As I understand it one was in development, but Square moved to Sony and thus development stopped.

Crash Bandicoot was awesome but I'm going to assume it's dead.

I miss Harvest Moon.
