Dead video game series/franchises you refuse to let go

Myth: The Fallen Lords. The presentation of the story, worldbuilding, and music is phenomenal (as it was Marty O Donnell and Michael Salvatori, the same duo that went on to score the Halo games) even if the gameplay is lackluster and has not aged well. Really needed an entry with persistent units similar to contemporaries like MechCommander Gold. That also had much more responsive player units.

Man I really loved Nocturne. No not that japanese crap.

Im planning on going over it more in another thread eventually but this game had impeccable atmosphere and story to it. In a lot of ways it was ahead of its time.

The tradictory of the franchise was very weird. It started out as one game, got a sequel/side story where they fight the Blaire witch and then used the same verse for the bloodrayne games.

The plan was always to go back and do more but a combination of the main actor dying and terminal reality closing down sealed it's fate sadly.

(Cancelled sequel)

It's just so dam forgotten. Even more then most other forgotten games. In the modern era that's probably for the best but id be lying if I didn't want to see a remake, bloodrayne tie in or a stab at another spinoff.
I remember that. It was the fixed camera angle that made it unplayable for me.

There's a lot of trial and error in that game when it comes to the pits and traps. There is something of a workaround with the first person view but it's clunky. I do wish someone could somehow mod it, the environments are fully 3D

Red Dead Revolver. If Rockstar put out a sequel that continues Red Harlow’s story, I’d probably cry.

Geist on GameCube. Very underrated M rated game on Nintendo’s 6th generation console. Gut wrenched to learn a remake on 3DS was scrapped as I believe it would’ve brought a lot of new fans to the franchise and potentially got a Switch game.

You can thank Randy Pitchfork for that, evil prick ruined my good name.

I miss the era of RTS games and I played the hell out of a good number of them. Command and Conquer was my shit back in the day. Thankfully good mods like Mental Omega, CnC Reloaded, and New War (WIP but looks interesting) are out there. Twisted Insurrection is awesome too, and features some of Frank Klepacki's later music that he personally pushed forward for this and other mods.
CnC is iconic. I was also big on battle realms. It felt a little more grounded where each individual unit and building mattered. I got the remastered version on Steam and experienced more crashes than just playing the original version and it really turned me off from revivals.

Wizardry. Wizardry 8 wrapped up the Dark Savant story and there's nothing more to do there, but i still find myself wanting more of it

In terms of raw numbers, the series (in name only though) is bigger than ever, but I'd KILL for a new, REAL monster hunter. Oh well, guess I'll replay freedom unite again, while the normalfags soijak over muh gwaffix and babified gameplay.

I was going to say Shenmue, but the series is definitely not dead and I'll be finishing the fight with Shenmue 4 very soon, I'm certain of it.

It's been about a year so I'm coming here to repeat Duke Nukem. I'm literally having cravings for a Duke Nukem game. This franchise has the potential to save the singleplayer FPS genre. I need Randy Bitchcock to release the rights to a worthy party NOW

Semi-related, but I love the Japanese Wizardry games (so, the fake ones) and hope for more of them.
Shenmue and Shenmue II are legit some of my favorite games of all-time.

Shenmue III made sure of me never wanting a Shenmue IV.
Sir, I would import an obscure Chinese cellphone exclusively to play Shenmue 4 in visual novel form. We are not the same.

(I hate the changes to the battle system in 3, and it looks cheap. But it still has the same soul. Hopefully some Shenmue autist will mod it into a better-looking, better-playing game.)

Not dead exactly because Persona is around and we get a mainline SMT game around every 15 or so years but I'd really like to see some of the more obscure SMT spinoff like Digital Devil Saga, Devil Survivor, Devil Summoner, ect get new entries.
