One thing that frustrates me is that kids these days do not know how to do chat roleplay. In my generation it was just expected that 10-16 year old boys would be groomed through fictional character roleplays, which would teach them about sex in a way that kids that age are desperate for. We didn't roleplay as kids of course, we played adult characters because everyone, including the kids, knew pretending to be a child being abused was cringe.
That wasn't the point- What I was trying to say is that "back in my day" the same things happened but people were able to sort roleplay from reality. Now they just go straight for the kids. Which is why what (while uncomfortable to talk about) happened to me didn't fuck me up for life, now they're just going directly for the kids.
Weren't you the same guy who admited to, on the farms of all places, having done ERPs on Discord when you were underage? I don't think that your list of socially acceptable animes is very valuable
Not Discord, it was random chat sites and the like.
The real answer is that Japan did not have the puritanical influence that America had from the start. And no, of course I'm not trying to say CP is only for puritans to hate, I'm just saying that those kinds of built-in revulsions are based on that kind of stuff. America outsourced the "18 or older rule" to other countries where before their AoC was much younger (and good on them), but they didn't have that rule often enough before that.
What's annoying is the lolicon is absolutely right, lewd content will be suppressed because it's an awful risk for financial services. It's why the payment processors are getting more uppity recently.
As a weeb, we generally treat these people as harmless annoyances. Where or not we should is another question, but they're almost never taken seriously. Also we were all bullied as kids so it's hard for the anime zeitgeist to exclude anyone unless they start hinting they're into the hard stuff.

As you can see, @Maeis is quite the character. Got anything to say buddy?
