I think it's that:
  • Elon has never invented anything, and he and his fanatics talk about him like he's Edison or Tesla toiling in some lab, crossed with fictional science rock star Tony Stark.
  • Elon continually overpromises, overhypes and underdelivers.
  • A subway for cars is fucking retarded and a deathtrap.
  • His submarine pod to rescue those cave trapped kids was fucking retarded and didn't work. It revealed Musk as a fragile egomaniac.
  • The cyber truck looks like shit.
  • Teslas are cheaply produced and manufactured, and are overpriced and overrated.
Other than that its just he turned against the establishment. When he wasn't against them none of the above reasons were good enough, because he's "doing good" with his money, which he isn't. He's just seeking profit. Which isn't a bad thing, but it's grating to hear an entrepreneur spoken of as a philanthropist. I am glad he bought and reformed Twitter though.

Twitter/X has had some growing pains with Elon at the top, but those are mostly lined out now. Mostly. As for the meme truck, yeah, it's ugly as shit, but it's gotten a lot of attention. If you want to see how retarded your friend is being, ask him what he thought of the tucker carlson review of it. It was one of the better reviews I've seen on it and brought up the three issues I have. Low battery life, high price, and ability to get in and out of tight jams.

He doesn't though, nothing Elon invented supports the US space program. Elon has no degrees and never invented anything. He hired rocket scientists to sit in a room and science some rockets. Having money and owning a corporation isn't being a genius.

No it's not. Elon's background is writing Java code, not aerodynamics, materials science, or structures. His #1 contribution to the engineering of SpaceX products is not demanding engineers change their designs so that components can be manufactured by a particular Senator's major donors.
