@King Kong... with wings?, I'm glad this thread exists, because now I can ask you - why is everyone on the left flipping out over the both sides comments Trump made? Is it just that they (the public, not the media) don't know the full situation and the media won't tell them? Or is there some special thing I'm not aware of? It's fucking with my head.

I don't think he's capable of answering, so I will.

Trump should have condemned the nazis/kkk etc. While his complete statement was pretty much correct, the fact he didn't outright condemn nazis gave the media the chance to shit the bed over it. The left are still massively butthurt he's president and want him gone as soon as possible, so jumping on this has been their biggest win since his election victory.

If the challenger of peace incident hadn't happened then Trump's statement would have been really good. But because that idiot did ram his car into people the statement created the shitstorm that's still falling on Trump.

I have a serious question for everyone though: What is the difference between "political correctness" and being a decent, respectful human being who respects others who are different than them?
Compassion and actually respecting people with different opinions.

Political correctness is cold and unfeeling and exists purely to shut down wrongthink and make things just and right. Its kind of like automation in that regard, there are a lot of moral and ethical issues with it, it's like social automation. It can also be misused, abused, and steered wrong. Whether or not intentions are just or moral or just or even if you agree with them (I mean most people will tell you racism is stupid, and I agree, but political correctness can be taken too far, and even used as a weapon), it leads toward building a world with much less humanity (free will and thoughts), much like automation.

There's a quote that goes something like, "When a man tells you what he is, believe him." But you have to give him the freedom and chance to tell you first. Assholes will always expose themselves. You dont have to like them, you dont have to agree with them, but you kinda have to tolerate or get along with them in a way. That's what respect is.

Oh shit I didnt realize this was a shitposting thread my bad. GUYYYS! Im tryna' get my sperg on!

Imposing law on someone for saying nigger is like pretending to send someone to jail for pushing you while walking on the streets. It's a rude gesture sure, and you should call rude people out, but getting law involved for these kind of things is never a good idea. One day it hurts the people you hate, soon it will come hurting you.
I believe humanity is smart enough to deal small things between themselves. Involving authorities into everything is like admitting you are too dumb to take decisions by yourself.
Have some self respect

Honestly I would love to debate with this guy if he were comfortable with it, but that's not what we're here for to debate with anyone outside the forums.

I've not always been involved in the politics of the 21st century but I've seen the gradual shift, it's like the wave from one end of the pool transferring back to where it all started: The right is strangulating itself, the left is strangulating itself, and now it's varying degrees of both. All the while the central buoyant is stuck saying "lol calm down" because the far left isn't ever satisfied and the far right often takes what the centrists believe in as admission that their own stance is always correct. On centralist thoughts, you can't remain neutral forever on everything. I'm for freedom of speech at all cost (like Styx here), even in consequence to that.

I may be breaking uneven as a centrist for that last bit, but the reality is most would rather express themselves and stop caring about what everyone thinks about them.

Brass Tacks: Politics brings out the worst in everyone and exposes their deeper weaknesses (read: weapons grade autism), which is why nobody discusses politics at the dinner table.

Because it was in direct response to a member of one side driving a fucking car into the other side and killing one of them. That's not the time to make vague statements about both sides being spastic jackals, that's the time when you say "driving cars into a bunch of people is fucked up".

People on the online have a hard time telling the difference between academic debate and "Guy who marched with Nazis just murdered someone and hurt a bunch of people." I'd say it's the distance and the internet's tendency towards nihilism, but it's probably mostly because of a medical condition that causes people to have a hard time empathizing with others easily.
