What is the best class?

I understand the need for selling DLC, but some more body armors in the In-Game Store would be a good idea besides the base 5.
I think the whole gimmick is to not allow other body armors, so that you're forced to pay the extra shekels for the DLC. You get a lot of customization with the different armor paint, hats, and beards though.
Gunner is the best class.
Ziplines are probably the second most important traversal tool (after the drill) in the game. I'd like something that extends the shield's usage to increase its usefulness. Perhaps an ability that forces the gunner to become indisposed to balance it out.

Not that I really care but there's less than half the number of cosmetics over last season in the new tree and the ones in the level tracker are all mashups of old assets.
On the cosmetic side of things, anyone could have seen this coming when they launched the new "Season" model of updates promising a new season pass tree chock full of brand new cosmetics every single time. There's only so many variations on funky dwarven facial hair you can come up with. Eventually you are going to run out of options without rehashing and combining assets or starting to loose the game's visual identity entirely by just throwing anything and everything you can think of in there. I think we're starting to see the effect of that. The new weapon frameworks I find especially lazy to be honest, they're literally just the default model with some rockpox gunk stuck on them. Sure some of the original set of frameworks that you could find in crates were also along the lines of "basc model with some extra tech bits stuck on" but the previous season pass frameworks had more effort put into making them distinct.

Jet Boots and sprint is nice, but jet boots with overcharged winch on the scouts grapple hook is pure kino. Use the grapple to slingshot in the direction you want then hit the boots to go 100mph across the entire cave. I guess you could do that with special powder, but it's more finicky, and I'd have to gimp myself with the shotgun.

The downside is only like 1% of caves have jet boots.

One of the new seasonal paintjobs looks super slick with the new supporter framework.

driller here. gotten into the game around a month or two. is there anything specific I should focus on now that I've promoted? should I play deep dive only and use forge?

btw is it just me or the corruption expansion is pretty bad? I particularly don't enjoy fighting that corruption monster, as it doesn't reward as much as giant meteors do. tips pls.

There's also the weekly core hunt.

Pretty much this sums up the end game, just depends on whether you want cores or cosmetics more
Deep dives give 6 cores every week, 3 from the normal deep dive, 3 from elite
There's a weekly core hunt assignment that also gives 3 a week that will take you on non-deep dive missions
Weekly assignment for extra minerals
The holiday objectives for the holidayl items like the summer stuff / christmas stuff/ etc when the event comes around
Season objectives like the current rockpox one, but note if you miss any of those cosmetics they later get added to either the cosmetic shop (the in game one not the paid DLC one) and to the drop pool for lost gear / loot crates

After you claim your weekly deep dive cores you should go back to normal missions until next week given deep dives don't give precious minerals to my knowledge.

With that being said don't feel rushed. Cores aren't going anywhere nor are any cosmetics and the sooner you burn through it all the sooner you have less to do

The rockpox corrupter is usually a pain in the ass because people don't strip all its armor before attacking it

I'd suggest giving the other classes a try as you're going to end up with overclocks for them no matter what. You might find something you like.
The corruption shit is unfortunately kind of played out and the activity isn't all that engaging to begin with. It can be a royal pain if you have an immobile team comp and the stupid corruption crap spawns super high.
The corruptor itself has two layers of armor around each weak point. Be sure to strip all of it before going to town. If placed properly your c4 will hit all three cores and mess it up real nasty once the armor is gone. I know it only drops three plague hearts but the meteor doesn't always drop four. It's still worth taking out.

Tips from another driller main:
  • Be sure to take the damage perk in the first tier for the drills. The faster drilling speed for some reason consumes fuel at an increased rate and you end up getting less distance per unit of fuel than without. Plus, the damage synergizes with the cryo cannon and the vampire perk.
  • The real strength of the cryo cannon comes from the tier 5 perk cold radiance. There's never a reason to not take that. Imo, the cryo cannon isn't in a super good spot right now, sadly.
  • You can vampire lifesteal from impact axes.
  • Dash is the best skill in the game.
  • Sticky flames builds for the flamethrower are very very good. Be sure to spray the ground, not the bugs. There are loads of comps that work well with fire and driller is the best source of it.
  • Even reddit fags can make decent infographics

  • Try and take hordes in chokepoints. All of driller's primaries are heavy aoe.
  • If you're ending a mission, be sure you have enough fuel to tunnel back to the drop pod. Your team probably expects it. If you need a second resupply pack, I'm sure someone will oblige if you ask.

The whole bunkering strategy makes me wish there were bigger swarms that took longer to show up and required a bit more preparation. I never use bunkers in normal play because they take too long to setup and generally aren't worth it (except when I did the "no resupplies/downs" achievement") but I would reconsider if the game gave more of an incentive to use them.

Four months and we still have no word on what the future of the game is, we are still stuck with the decontamination gimmick that has outstayed its welcome, and the devs are playing boards games...
Last I played the game I thought to myself, "Okay, most of the work that was put into this was the new skins for the guns. Surely when I come back by early Fall they will show us what they were really working on." Now I'm beginning to doubt if they have any real updates planned to begin with. They will probably drop a gimmick each season along with some DLC and then go back to working on spin-offs and multimedia (like the board game) to further cash in on the game's success.
