Deus Ex Franchise - Immersive Sims

So is there a good launcher or mod for a vanilla experience?

I was thinking about giving Revision a go but I see even with the Vanilla Maps and the other settings it still has some changes.

there are a lot of things, but the biggest problem is that they are such awful writers. their characters are dumb and the notes you find in all their games aren't put together well and the payoff to the stories they make are disappointing and they've only gotten worse over time

they have become more competent at gameplay over the years but SH2 only turned out as good as it did because of how good the original game was and they had so much handholding from Konami who wanted to make sure it was a hit because of how jealous they were getting over all the money RE remakes were making Capcom

they are the Markiplier of horror game developers. they make slop for teenagers who don't know any better

If anyone is curious, I ended up going with Kentie's Launcher, which has resolution fix and modern renderers, just turn off the windowless fullscreen. For me it caused crashes.

Another alternative would be GMDX, which you can download standalone or get from GOG

Lastly there is Revision
AFAIK Kentie's is the only vanilla experience really

I mean I am not going to argue against that. You aren't wrong, but I guess I just appreciate companies that are putting out above average games without stuffing them with DLCs and Microtransactions and shit.

As per your own admission, you said that they have been getting better and their last 2 games have a pretty good scores (including user score).
Even if their track record isn't 10/10, I still consider that an overall win for the gaming industry - All other companies that are relevant are definitely getting worse: Activision, Blizzard, Ubisoft, EA, Nintendo, they are all either been shit for a long time or actively getting shittier as we speak.

That being said, yeah they had their fumbles - Observer had a great hook and its ending was ass, and Layers of Fear had a good plot but no gameplay other than walking sim from jumpscare to jumpscare. But I still appreciate them being around and improving. Their last game (Cronos ?) just released and people seem to like it, and it was not due to Konami handholding.

I guess I am just looking at them as a positive Polly.

Why does the GEP gun have a CRT strapped to it? Are we playing Smash Bros on the GEP gun? I know GMDX added a TV missile functionality to the GEP rockets, but TV missile doesn't mean literally a television has been duct taped to the gun.

This is why I was kind of excited to see the news of the remaster. The game is more relevant than ever to the current conversation. I'm SO sick of everything being "trannies bad vs trannies good." I'm so sick of the concept of a conspiracy being associated with nothing but schizophrenics who believe in lizard people. Whether you agree with the concepts presented by Deus Ex or not, it makes you think critically about them.

This game did so much to my teen brain to encourage critical thinking. Why, if I were conspiratorially minded I'd say that the remaster was torpedoed on purpose in order to keep the cattle from getting any ideas.

I would actually love to see this, to be honest. If there's yellow paint, then I'm definitely watching a playthrough of this remaster on youtube.

Just imagine a bunch of big yellow arrows pointing to the boarded-up NSF hideout in Hell's Kitchen that say "NSF HIDEOUT HERE."

Or the "secret" area where you rescue Ford Shick, a big yellow arrow pointing to the correct sewer entrance. :story::story::story::story:

I would recommend GMDX over Revision. I tried playing Revision, but it just feels like they added a bunch of flat empty space to an already pretty flat and empty space.

I'm hoping they remove the voice lines and change hong kong to be somewhere less politically sensitive like Palestine and use AI to change the lines to suit it to ensure maximum sperging online.

Like who even was asking for a Deus Ex remaster to begin with? Certainly no legit fan gave a shit since the original game works fine and has dated gracefully.

This is like casting Monica Belluci and de-aging her using AI. It's just going to end in sperging.

It is impressive that they went with the absolute worst option, not a simple update/port thing like doom or quake or any of the others, not a big epic remake that excites people, just make the game uglier as cheaply as they can

The worst part is it lets modern console peasants play the greatest game ever. They're going to ruin it and complain about it and try and use Deus Ex memes when they're not even certified for this level of gameplay.

Who wants to bet they're going to kill the gun swaying at lower levels mechanic for soniggers and nintedophiles and micropenises?

Edit: I'm actually rooting for them to make this game more racist than the original - can the pajeets in the house please an Indian subclass with virtual smell mechanics and add slanty eyes to the chinese

One of the best soundtracks in the industry. Every time I hear it I get an urge to reinstall.
Doing this to Deus Ex is no shame behavior. Jeets must be involved.

Normalfags are too stupid to play Deus Ex. Anytime a game is dumbed down for the "modern audience", old or new, it rarely works. Pretenders will be outed quickly, just like they always have.
