Devil May Cry to get an animated series from creator of Castlevania Netflix series - Bootleg Multiverse

A good way to go about "edge" on this show would be to make Dante a Bugs Bunny in a world of Elmer Fudds and Daffy Ducks, have him be a lighthearted goofball with a heart of gold while everyone else takes shit super duper seriously
That's already sort of the dynamic at play in DMC3, which is the fan favorite of the series. Dante himself doesn't take anyone or anything seriously, save for the final fight with Vergil. It's what makes him such a fun character in 3.

Not quite. Portrait of Ruin takes place in 1944 during World War II, which is pretty close to modern times all things considered.

One thing that's interesting to me is that Castlevania and DMC are owned by different people; the former is owned by Konami and the latter is owned by Capcom. I'm not saying that collaboration between studios is totally out of the question, especially in Capcom's case considering some of their biggest games are crossovers. I think it's actually kinda cool that they're allowing this.
That makes sense. I mean Konami is now thinking of making a new Castlevania game even if this one is just an iPhone game for Japan at the moment.

It's Offtopic. But I thought I let you know about it. Also, will be preying my heart out if they take the best kind of DMC games (Not including the reboot by Ninja Theory.) and make a better DMC show than the anime version of it. They could also take cues from DMC 5 and add the newer castmates.

But the question is? What would the story be about and will this new version of DMC be an origin story for the OG Dante and maybe his twin brother?

(Dante does have a HUGE family tree given games where you play as Nero in 4.)

Let's hope Japan learns from Netflix and take notes on how to do a character right.

You know what would hurt, if the animated series turned out to be based of the DmC reboot. Although even if its not, I suspect you are right with the show writing probably aiming to be more edgy and less stupid campy fun like he original dmcs tended to be.

I see them shoehorning religion into this even though there is no god as far as I know in DMC (I know 4 has a religious cult, but those angel things are still demons) and Dante being an explitive filled self loathing hobo with no humor.

Or hell, go the reboot route with on the nose politics. Mundas is now Trump.

One thing's for sure, Dante can't just be a badass dork deep in debt with a cool sword doing theatrical plays with Agnus.

But I do hope I'm wrong!

Everyone is forgetting the games went into the far future of 2036, with Dracula killed in 1999.

Sounds like the old comic, Bastard, where Dark Schnieder is just a heavy metal Bugs Bunny and the rest of the characters took the story seriously. At least until the author lost his mind when Satan shows up.

After hearing the writing in Castlevania, I too have some misgivings about it cutting itself on that edge. Dante doesn't swear all that much and he's very much a cartoon character (he air surfed on a missile, for god's sake). I think the way they handle his character is the break it or make it moment.

I know, but say...Warren Ellis may have a very different interpretation of DMC than Itsuno and Co.

I wonder if they're gonna make Virgil a black woman who lectures Dante about slavery.
Well, Dante def looks loke the DMC3 version, so consider me curious on this one. Least this one seems to have mo energy than the 2003 version which I felt never really had a plot behind it.

I’ll give it a shot. Still haven’t seen the original anime, though I’ve heard mixed things about that one.

Its biggest that it was very boring, each episode felt the same and there wasnt much a general plot. Ya just saw Dante be this stoic guy that guns down demons left and right, while theres this lil'brat that chills out at his office.

After seeing what they did to Castlevania post season 2 and the the new one with extra diversity, I am almost 100% sure this is going to suck ass. The only thing that might be a silver lining is that Itsuno mentioned he is supervising it. Oda did the same thing for the One Piece live action and that turned out not to be total dogshit, which is a step up from usual netflix standards.

Digital art in the right hands can look fantastic. In this case, it was handed over to the typical modern age retards that make everything look like westernized lazy shit.

This might actually get viewers, but then the hype cycle for Netflix slop really makes sense when you realize that 90% of the audience is on their phone or playing Switch while "watching" shows and movies that get promoted as the newest great show you're not watching.

Every stupid disposable piece of media is THE BEST SHOW OF THE PAST 5 YEARS DUDE ITS ACTUALLY INSANE HOW GOOD IT IS JUST WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE WHO DIES IN THIS EPISODE and then all is forgotten in a month's time.

I kinda thought the Castlevania series was ok but not great. But I'm willing to admit it's largely a matter of personal taste.
But that does mean I'll probably check it out but not exactly super excited.

I want a Vampire Hunter D series!

Edit: holy shit it's already in production!
Now this gets me excited!

edit; oh no wait it's CG, fuck that noise then.
