To be fair, boomers were still mostly children in the 60s, with the malcontent college activists and hippies being a fringe minority. It was the 'greatest generation', who held all the institutional power, that sold us out then. "Huzah, we beat those evil nazis, now let's do everything Hitler tried to warn us about!"
TBH no, they sold us out a little bit but its not even close to boomers. The 'greatest' were gullible morons, but they understood the US was a white country and basically preserved that. I was speaking in regards to the 60's, which Frag specifically cited. I was a child in the 80's when Reagan naturalized all those illegals. Blaming Millenials/Gen X for that would be retarded, even if my generation has their own share of retardation.
The problem with laying it at the feet of the greatest generation is two fold. For one, as gullible as they were, the greatest generation was vastly smaller than the boomers and got smaller every day. The boomers could have done a ton to help fix things because of the insane numbers they had. The second problem is that while greatest was in power, boomers got in pretty fucking early on. It wasnt a member of greatest giving speeches in front of congress where they burned their medals for pinkos. It wasnt greatest that had shit fits over video games in congress or took part in the civil rights movement. Fuck, they were voting age at the middle of forced bussing, and before that they were the students square in yhe middle of desegregating schools. That alone should have made them pause and think about their voting habits. But they fucking didnt. Greatesr nudged the train forwards for the love of their children. But Boomers slammed the throttle full foward for the love of naricissm.
Again, I'm not absolving the boomers for what they've done, but the civil rights acts of the 60's was 100% the greatest generation capitulating. They should have listened to McCarthy and cracked more skulls.
It's a bold move of a man who stakes his reputation to only speaking truths based on evidence to make a claim substantiated by absolutely nothing. But expecting any amount of consistency from Dev at this point is asking for the impossible.
