Diablo 4 general - All shit will hit the fan this June

Server slam had some pretty stupid requirements for the mount skin. It required you at a max of level 20 to defeat a boss meant for level 25 plus. With no way to make a group you were stuck with the people in your phase so you could have level 12s trying to do it. The boss only spawned every 3 hours and you had 15 minutes to beat it. Forums are going crazy at moment with people demanding refunds for being used to test with no reward.
Refunds for what lol, it was free to participate in the "server slam"

Anyway the code seems better, game wasn't as much of a resource sink as during the Open Beta, and lag wasn't a problem at all. Saw some new decent-looking enemies. Combat still generic and boring with too many of the awful D3 elements, characters still generic and boring, still not worth 70 or 80 bucks or whatever the cheapest purchase option is

The memory leak did seem gone and they lowered the legendary drop rate so it doesn't feel like its raining them anymore. On open beta by 20 I had an entire set and some to spare.

They spend their weekend playing a shitty game and fighting on a forum. Meanwhile im playing Zelda ToK and having a good time.

The server slam was fun and I think D4 plays much better than D3 from what I played in the beta and defeating ashava several times during the server slam. By the end I had a full kit of socketed gems and legendary gear and could complete T2 Ashava without dying. The butcher on the other hand was the toughest enemy in the server slam and I'm sure no one soloed them. The D4 version Truly lives up to the D1 iteration's reputation.

Not getting the game because the dialog is the same woke garbage you'd expect out of this part of globohomo's propaganda machine. With characters that expect you to cry at the drop of a hat like redditors claim to when you have no idea who the hell any of these melodramatic marvel rejects are. The gameplay was way better than D3 though but felt like a watered down Path of Exile clone.

So Blizzard is selling the collector's box for Diablo IV for $96.66 and it doesn't include the game.
that's the most milqetoast thing to complain about. collector's edition have been "(physical) dlc you buy on top" for years, for various reasons. in the end doesn't really matter if you bough the XBOX CE, the PLAYSTATION CE, the SWITCH CE or PC CE...

I guess not having the collector's edition locked to a platform can be a good thing since one version wouldn't run out before the others. The real problem is all that stuff in the collector's box isn't worth close to $100, and this is just another symptom of how Blizzard is really trying to milk every last dollar out of their franchises.

I haven't purchased a collector's edition of any game in about 10 years but the last time I did I got the game, season pass (all future unreleased DLC) , and physical extras (including a limited edition hardcover artbook) for $80. I don't expect collector's editions to still be this cheap but the way new games are monetized looks awful compared to how it was a few years ago.

Is it really a CE if it doesn't have the game in it? I'd just call it a random limited run merch chest at that point, though there's a really simple solution by including the game, in a separate box, that way the CE isn't locked but you still get the game and the additional box can have a CE theme to it where the generic box/code goes into.

it would still be separate SKUs per platform if bundled, or depend on the individual store to bundle it accordingly (if their system is even set up to handle something like that).
this simply got offset unto to customer where you buy the CE stuff on your own and just add your whatever system version you bought, some CEs even had a designated spot for the game box (dunno if that's still a thing) to make it a "complete" CE.

it's also a side effect from digital I assume where the CE stuff is just "dlc" and gets sold as such.

not really worth complaining about unless the CE stuff is crap (then simply don't buy it), is overpriced as a whole (again, don't buy it) and most people won't care anyway, CEs have always been limited. the only thing that changes for a customer is having to buy 2 things instead of 1, and while they might not be able to grab the least popular option down the line for cheap (like it happened with a lot of xbox CEs back in the day) they can instead buy the CE stuff if they want it and then the game itself from wherever for whatever price.

so yeah, it might just be semantics but that goes both ways.

remind me, Why does a 70 dollar game need a cash shop AND battle pass?

GTA 5 and its consequences has been a disaster for video games. Even after a decade of failures AAA still chase the golden goose that will get them money forever after a single massive investment. There is no logic in it, they could make statistically more money by making a lot of smaller budget games that are assured to cover their investment, but you don't become a CEO by actually cultivating your company, you either get something or burn it down in the process.

The "Ashava trophy club's" divide in the playerbase and its resulting pseudo-elitist memes are hilarious.

They rightly make satirical fun of the lazy shitters that get their sick kicks out of ruining most games today. They just call them "bare manes" abbreviated BMA, or hornless filth, since the starting horse has no customization. Was formed after the D4 forums were flooded with "im refunding" and other autistic whining by the F2P crowd about there not being enough time in the 4 days the server slam ran from friday-monday.

They also got press coverage:

Their subreddit:

The Ashava Trophy is a legendary artifact that collects tears and has turned them into a highly sought-after commodity. Tears cascade into the horn, creating a sad yet mesmerizing waterfall of emotions. Possessors of this exclusive horn indulge in the highest form of emotional currency, collecting tears from those who long for its unattainable charm. It has become a symbol of exclusivity, elevating tears into a valuable asset.

At the risk of sounding like a consoomer, I'm not really fussed by the battle pass as its presented so far. The free track has all the game progression stuff attached (although there's no way they'd try and pull that after the Immortal backlash...), and what I've seen so far of the cosmetics doesn't exactly lighten my world.

I'm getting twitchier the closer to release we are.
