Digimon

Yikes...I'll wait till torrent sites like Nyaa have them for free. But there is only one episode I want to see so I can compare. Holydramon and Goddramon VS Millenniumon. I fear they are going to rename Goddramon to Golddramon....So far only 13 episodes are out.
I think they've been using Goldramon for a while now, at least in the games. Just like Holydramon and HolyAngemon became Magnadramon and MagnaAngemon. Then there are cases where the dub used the same name but then changed it Years later (Demon went from Daemon in 02 to Creepymon in the video games)

OOooo cool, played the original and the one on 3ds emu with translation patch and they were pretty good do love me some digimon world.
There are some pretty cool call backs to both in the new one. You are going to have a lot more fun having played both. A warning though, none of the old VAs for the digimon are in the new game. Not sure why, but I really miss some of them.

I’m seeing people defend and praise Adventure 2020 after spending its entire run bashing it. It’s mostly from fans who felt short changed over Ghost Game but there is a slight increase in those feeling they were too harsh on it. Yet again this is standard for the Digimon fanbase to hate the latest season only to go back and praise it after it’s over. I wonder if the fandom’s reaction to 2020 will change with the English dub out now. Appmon is going through a very similar phase now with fans suddenly coming out and calling it an underrated hidden gem, begging people to watch the season and not skip over it.

Speaking of Appmon is it any good? It’s getting hyped up by the fandom a lot lately.

I need to get back to Appmon, as it's a pretty slow start (typical Toei fare), but I kinda like the idea of updating the Digital World to mobile apps and that the digital sea acts like the legit ocean with zones and such, am curious about their take on the "dark web". Gatchamon is also pretty cute, and there were some neat Digimon-of-the-week the main character (don't remember his name lol) was collecting. Last episode I remember watching was the introductory episode of the female lead, an idol I believe. Not sure how I feel about her tbh.

I'm just behind on modern Digimon seasons in general. I'm still in the middle of Fusion ffs, but I gotta do a rewatch. Just isn't grabbing my attention, though the idea of Ghost Game is honestly intriguing.

Appmon is pretty gay, though

And Toei shows why they suck and instead of focusing on the audience they have they instead still tried the same thing (boys toys) when plushies would have worked. But then again this during peak tri

Sad but true, though as far as I can tell, Frontier still is pretty hated in some circles and all but one of the Frontier fans I've met both IRL and online were ones who got introduced to Digimon through it.

It's definitely more accepted now than it was back in the day but I'm honestly starting to wonder if the "the worst thing ever suddenly being seen as a beloved classic" is mostly just Tamers plus all of the rehashes/cash-ins on Adventure. Savers/Data Squad seems mostly just forgotten from what I've seen. I don't know shit about Appmon and I need to watch Ghost Game.

With Tamers, most of the hate I remember came from actual kids back in 2001 who were either butthurt that it wasn't a third season of Adventure, hated it for being too grimdark (by Saturday Morning Cartoon standards), or some combination of the two. Even then, it had some fans even back then and some of these fans who didn't like Tamers when it first was announced came around to it a few episodes into the initial run.

IIRC, Tamers got better reception after Frontier crashed and burned but it took a few years after that to get fully accepted as a beloved gem when the kids who remembered it way back in 2001 suddenly became angsty teenagers.

With shit like Digimon Adventure Tri or the 2020 reboot, I'd say a lot of it has to do with the fact they're based on Adventure more than anything else. Both the wider fanbase and the IP holders alike are gonna keep beating that particular dead horse for as long as they possibly can.

Looking to buy Digimon Survive. Is it worth it?
It's mostly a visual novel and the game play is like a less fleshed out Fire Emblem. Make your first playthrough a blind one without reading about it, it's pretty cheap right now

No, don't cater to adult womenchildren when it comes to Digimon. Just leave them to their fanfiction.
They're already a major audience in Japland. Several of the artist I see are women in their mid 20s to early 30s. And while they should have focused on the kids once it was obvious women were enjoying it more they should have made those stupid plushies women like so much. I believe the VA of the pinkhaired girl from that show said her characters development was derailed for the other male character.

Also here's the two Taichi English VAs, only missing the guy who voiced him in the 2nd 02 movie.

I wouldn't doubt it, it's happened in multiple seasons prior to Applimon. Think this is the first instance where the VA was outspoken about it, though. (But also lol she's not a very prolific voice-actress anyway, maybe she should've kept her mouth shut about it. Big thunk there.)

Wasn't the reason why frontier crashed and burned because fox kids died and it was put on random rabbit ear channels like UPN? I don't think there was that much of a reach in terms of airing distributions. The death of fox kids really hurt Digimon's ability to reach the masses. I know the later on that they did utilize. Jetix. But frontier was running on reruns when it did finally move. And then we got that horrible dub of Digimon Savers later on. That was nightmare fuel. It was so bad. Thank goodness I was able to find the series subbed still. The torrent was almost dead though. I believe Ryuu Rogue subbed it. Does that name ring a bell for anyone?

I remember Wolfpack and that's who I got the subs from. I had the old Meg-chan ones from years ago but lost them when my computer shit the bed. It failed because it also didn't sell enough toys. It started with Tamers and the production staff went into Frontier knowing it would be the last one. In America the death of foxkids definitely hurt it but I remember 911 put the Tamers run on a hiatus since the pig deva ended up causing a lot of damage (they ended up re-censoring Adventure and 02, with 02 getting ridiculous censoring the dark towers being brought down
