I’m not familiar enough to know, how is it fujobait? I know MC is a pretty boy, but that’s par for the course with modern Digimon MCs. And it’s a shame if it is, because I like the idea of non-Digimon digital entities that live outside of Yggdrasil, and I am partial to some of their designs.Aimed at f*jos. The relationship between the main character Haru and yujin is straight up yaoi fujo shitI’m not familiar enough to know, how is it fujobait? Very unfortunate. Is it like this in the 3DS game as well, or only the anime? The relationship between the main character Haru and yujin is straight up yaoi fujo shit
Never played the 3DS game so I wouldn't knowVery unfortunate. Is it like this in the 3DS game as well, or only the anime?
So make another thread? This thread isn't about what shows you want to see on Toonami, it's about Digimon.
Savers was one of the best series out of all of them. But the dub was bad.Does it matter? There isn't really anything important about Digimon to talk about past 2004-ish, it's been dead for so long
I was genuinely impressed that they cared enough to use the Japanese names and terminology for stuff like evolution in The Beginning. Normally they don't do that and they just use dubtitles in the sub versions. I saw the subbed version in theaters. I legitimately enjoyed it. But my promotional packs of cards… I mainly got human characters and only two Digimon. Even though Digimon is not as big as Pokémon, at least they have one thing going for it that Pokémon does not. Legal access to subtitles. TPCi (the Pokémon company international) is so fucking cheap that they refuse to give the fans subtitles. And yes, I know, it's a kids anime, but so is Digimon. It's really embarrassing. How such a huge company doesn't want to spend the money on something like that. It's a joke within the community about how cheap they are and how they cut corners so much. The dub is also garbage. But at least Digimon is making a step in the right direction. The dubs even started keeping the Japanese music when the Pokémon dub does not. The movies keep the Japanese music when the Pokémon movies do not. It's just a shame that Digimon is struggling to hang on. Because the quality is there.Unfortunately Digimon is fucking dead right now, so it’s only natural it may diverge. And to be fair, it started off by considering if Digimon could make it on there.
I mean the biggest thing to happen recently was the BD release of Beginnings, which has only annoyed me due to how long it’s been. I genuinely stopped caring about wanting to see it due to how fucking abysmal only having a literal weekend showing was, and all of the hype has long since been replaced with distain. If they’re not even going to show it here in the US for more than a week, don’t even bother. At least Kizuna was leaked and subbed well before release, so I wasn’t arbitrarily forced to wait in the era of simulcast.
This has really only been the case for the Beginign, as that was released only a few weeks after the Japanese release. Kizuna even redid a Digirap since they didn't have access to the original dub music. Granted I haven't seen colon dubbed so I might be wrongThe dubs even started keeping the Japanese music when the Pokémon dub does not. Tri had the Japanese songs and BGM. They did a new rap for it but then quickly abandoned it. I think that was for like only one or two of the six Tri films. This has really only been the case for the Beginign, as that was released only a few weeks after the Japanese release. Because whoever composed it was no Paul Gordon and they knew it.They did a new rap for it but then quickly abandoned it.
The movie just dropped on the usual seas, so I’ll be checking it out soon. I’ve had lots of problems with official subtitling/closed captioning in general, especially in regards to non-Japanese & English languages (must Die Biene Maja with subtitles not exist? There’s no official closed captioning at all.) And especially nowadays it‘s pathetic we don’t have more of it in official capacities.-snip-
I haven’t seen all of 2020, but I do know that what I did see featured the Japanese soundtrack with an English dub for the songs.Granted I haven't seen colon dubbed so I might be wrong
There is just one problem. Discotek has shown that they made some paint edits as a poor attempt at a "joke" (crossing out Taichi and Hikari's last name on their apartment name plate and putting their last name from the dub.) and made the script very close to the cheesy dub. Even if the Japanese version is on that release, the fact that DT went the dub-esqe route on the "uncut" dub is just sad. In 2024 It should be time for them to abandon wanting to cater to the nostalgia of the 90s dub.Personally, and on the topic of more accurate dubs, I really hope the Gekijouban/OWG/HT|TE redubs sell enough to justify redoing the entirety of 01 and maybe even 02 with the original soundtracks and less Nimoy-ed dialogue. As much as I love the original Saban dubs, there’s nothing quite like Brave Heart.
Personally, I don’t mind too much about it not being 100%, and instead being somewhere in the middle. As long as it can properly get the emotions of the scenes across (which they already did a decent job back with TDM, only butchering HT|TE) and has the Japanese soundtrack, I‘m very much content. If I wanted an English dub that’s basically 1:1 with the subs I‘d watch the SEA dub. It’s more a possible 01 redub I’d want to be closer, because too many liberties were taken with some scenes (and, for some weird reason, a kid getting slapped is bad but two kids punching the shit out of each other is fine). There is just one problem. Too bad my favorite Mega in Adventure, Holydramon got a piss poor amount of time in Tri. She had an amazing evolution scene but then only got one attack in before Omegamon stole the show again. She did get more time in Adventure 2020 though...But still not much. Taichi as usual comes in and steals the fight. They should have just had Holydramon and Goddramon finish killing Millenniumon.Personally, I don’t mind too much about it not being 100%, and instead being somewhere in the middle. And you say that, but Digimon as a whole almost entirely thrives off of nostalgia. Just look at how well Adventure movies do, even the Tri movies were a major commercial success.
