What is there to "analyze" about Sonic the Hedgehog?

He's just a blue hedgehog who runs fast and fights robots - marketed to kids who are outgrowing Mario and want a character who is "cooler" or "edgier" but still family-friendly.

That's about it. Trying to read stuff into it such as it being a metaphor for the Cold War, and other stuff which is going far deeper than the creator of Sonic himself ever intended is absolute lunacy.

(The best you could read into it is that it has kind of a 'nature-friendly' or 'environmentalist' theme - since Robotnik / Eggman kidnaps animals and turns them into robots; but that's just a very simple, generic, ubiquitous theme which is found in tons of entertainment media, such as Star Wars, Captain Planet, Pocahontas, James Cameron's Avatar, etc - so it's in no way incredibly "deep" or "original").

What next, is someone going to argue that "Barney and Friends" is really a metaphor for super-string theory and pre-Aristotelian philosophy?

Hang on.
Do we actually live in a reality we’re Dillin failed at trying to troll THE Mike Pollock? Dillin how the fuck did you manage to make a character like Eggman come off as a fucking chad?? That takes lots of talent right there! But just to make this even better is how Mike was polite and professional the entire time! :stress:

Make of this what you will.

Is there a good way we could go about archiving this list of tweets? I've tried using that screenshot function mentioned in the guidelines but it doesn't display every single one properly.

As an aside, I find it incredibly hilarious how Dillin is accusing this Snick guy of the exact same thing the latter accused him of with the Mike Pollock shit, like fucking clockwork.

Internet archive I guess

Can somebody please explain the current drama between Dillin and Snick is? Is Dillin going full lolcow?
Here's a brief summary I wrote over in the Siivagunner thread:
I believe some context is in order. The timeline of events is kind of like this:
- two of dillin's friends' twitter accounts get suspended
- dillin insists that snick is responsible and makes several now privated videos calling snick to join him on his livestream to settle it like men
- snick makes several tweets claiming he doesn't care (while still continuing to retweet tweets shitting on dillin) and would prefer to settle it privately, which dillin doesn't acknowledge
- stream happens this morning (also privated), which snick does not show for. Dillin proceeds to go through a giant twitter archive of shit he's done and clumsily attempts to debunk it

the "get his ass" quote was towards a poll dillin made asking if he was an edgy fuck or actually a shitty person. Dillin didn't actually have any evidence that snick was responsible. In fact there was actually some guy who claimed that the ones responsible were a group of anti-fans lurking in his discord who've had a grudge against dillin for years though whether that is true is up to interpretation.

The fact that there are people who "micro-analyze" something as shallow and simplistic as Sonic never ceases to disturb me.

The creator of Sonic itself didn't even read into it more deeply than "A blue Hedgehog who runs fast, collects rings, fights robots, and is cooler than Mario".

Reading significant levels of "depth" into something which even the creator didn't intend to be done might be a good definition of insanity.

(As far as Sonic goes, I think that the art style and aesthetic of the games was probably the most interesting and unique part, the gameplay and the plot in comparison weren't any deeper than a Mario game).

Update to the Jesse situation:

Dillin in total now has made four videos talking about the situation with Mikey of jesse being fired due to accusations of transphobia and other stuff.

Mikey has not made any responses to any of these videos despite Dillin planning on making more in response to what happened even though all these videos saying the exact same thing.

The exposed doc was the first video made on the situation and it is the one that made Jesse's case go on to deaf ears entirely because of how Dillin acted during it.
People felt sorry for Jesse but due to how Dillin couldn't help but act like a tone-deaf moron throughout Jesse trying to explain himself; he pretty much solidified behind the scenes Jesse never getting work again due to how he acted made Jesse's apology seem insincere.

In short: Dillin intervention actually screwed over Jesse's chances of fixing the situtation

Here are the videos so far

Full disclosure as a fan of these guys, but I will say, the only thing that kind of annoys me is I feel Dillin kept unnecessarily bringing up the old drama with Jesse and Jill. I get what he's trying to do, but if that shit is truly in the past then leave it there.
