Discussion for the Fate of Weeb Wars as a Board

This board was made for the immense drama spewing forth from the Vic lawsuit. The lawsuit is now dead and the people involved in it have mostly gone away.

So we can go about this one of two ways:
1. Close the board and move live threads to other boards.
2. Repurpose the board.

#1 is the most straight forward.
#2 is possible if someone has a good idea.

When we make a board, it is for an audience. If I combined all the boards together and every on-topic lolcow thread were side-by-side, there is no promise you'd have any interest in a thread if you were randomly opening it. If you're really into Patrick Tomlison, there is a good chance that other threads in the Tough Guys board will be interesting to you.

Boards are not purely categorical. Compare a board for all people with red hair vs. the board for furries. Obviously, furries are going to be more into furry drama, so they are the audience. A furry is going to be involved in furry drama, so it's a board for people in the fandom who appeal mostly to other people in the fandom. If you were to make a board for gingers, it would be categorical in a similar sense, but it doesn't work because there's no audience specifically for ginger drama.

So if the board is to be revived from its current state, I need to know who it's for and who goes in it. I was thinking a general "Culture Wars" board for the Podcast Race and their associates. This would make it a narrower subsection of Internet Famous.

Culture Wars is probably better given what most of the threads here tap into. There's no reason that Monica Rial's thread can't be neighbors with ArchivistBecks, it's all the same swirling mélange. Kick Vic, Gamergate, etc are all symptoms of the same thing and the same groups of people shit-stirring. I think it's best way to encapsulate it, Professional Shit-stirrers in Media.

I was thinking a general "Culture Wars" board for the Podcast Race and their associates. This would make it a narrower subsection of Internet Famous.

Seconded, think Vito the pedo belongs in this category? his claim to fame iirc was making “Star Wars Sequel trilogy sucks” no. 937474882”.

Efap, and maybe Jim Sterling would probably belong as well as a bunch of breadtubers (maybe move the BreadTube thread there?)

There are still some residual things left to be resolved in the Vic case (maybe as soon as October), but that's already in the law forum. The main thread itself should probably be kept, maybe as Community Watch.

Otherwise the forum is mostly dead or so low-traffic the main thread could probably handle it all.

A repurpose would maybe involve chucking every remotely anime-related thing into it but you'd still have a ton of dead threads in it. Maybe Vtubers deserve a forum, because that thread is insane, but I fucking hate Vtubers so I don't really care one way or another.

Call it the court room and make it a rekieta and rekieta adjacent board. You can fit comicsgate people, the residual weeb stuff AnOminous mentioned, all these spergy lawyers, and depending on what your thinking is Vito and Dick (since Vito’s story will end in a court room.)

Go with option 2 for repurposing and just consider calling it “Anime Celeb/drama”. It would focus on anime celebrity, voice actors, and the general drama and hopefully it will not interfere with the already established Anime/Manga board since it won’t be a general discussion about the cartoons because it’s meant to focus on the voices and actors.

Second this, optional vtubers and anime related shit . There is also lot of drama there and vtuber thread needs to be at least several threads , there is also lot of back and forth between true and honest women and vtubers .

Culture Wars is a fantastic idea for a subforum. Never was able to get into the whole Kick Vic/Weeb Wars thing, and I'm sure there's plenty of users who would agree. There's a lot of history there and it's almost unassailable for someone happening upon it too late.

Meanwhile, the idea of "Culture Wars" is broad enough that there will, almost certainly, be something in there to interest anyone browsing it.

When I think of "weeb wars", I think of the slapfights over Western censorship of anime, manga, novels, games, etc. Which would fit right into a few threads in a Culture Wars board.

I would just call the board "Rekieta-verse". "Culture Wars" I feel like does not accurately describe the current state of the weeb wars board. Maybe if you had other cows that would fit the theme of Culture Wars would work. Like Sargon and Jarbo back in their prime when they were arguing with feminists.

I feel like if Ralph's extended universe belongs in the Ralph board, then Drexel, the former Locals chat, and their enemies belong in a Rekieta board.

Although, calling it "Rekieta-verse" will permanently piss off Rekieta and prevent even pretending that there is any good will between Null and Nick.

Culture Wars is way too general a name even if in actuality the board would have a much narrower focus. There are plenty of threads on other boards that deal with cows and groups that are primarily invested in current year culture warring. Having a board with that name would suggest everything related to the culture wars belongs there.

Maybe name it “Culture War Heroes” instead and get all of the grifters in it. The Quartering and guys like that would fit in there, as would Rekeita and arguably Drexel (MGTOW gay shit podcast).
