Discussion for the Fate of Weeb Wars as a Board

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Maybe name it “Culture War Heroes” instead and get all of the grifters in it. The Quartering and guys like that would fit in there, as would Rekeita and arguably Drexel (MGTOW gay shit podcast).
I like this idea. It might not be much of a remake/streamlining of the Weeb board, but it could be something useful in its own right. A board for politispergs, taking threads from Lolcows, CW and Internet Famous. As a community I think it makes a lot of sense and I would definitely be drawn to it.

ETA: I just remembered we have an AF board. If that isn't very active, it could be merged in. Frankly I'm very interested in politspergs from all sides but I don't follow the Fuentes stuff. The only question is whether people laughing at leftwing nutjobs could get along and share a community with people laughing at rightwing nutjobs and vice versa.

Repurpose it to be a Rekieta subforum so people like Drexel can have threads about them. Call it lawtube or internet famous 2.0 specifically for people who in that sphere. Hell, even throw Dick's thread in here and make it "Internet Hedonism II", full of people that are too interlinked to be separate entities in the internet famous subforum but not connected to the Gunt subforum.

Discussing legal proceedings related to lolcows and the forum itself is fun and educational. In my opinion it would be nice to rename the board to something not related to weebs, put all legal threads here or make dedicated threads for legal stuff related to cows (Rekieta, Greer, Scott, Stebbins for example) and give @Useful_Mistake the broom.

I've never been a weeb wars user, and I think if the board was rebranded then it should be to something that keeps those users interests, otherwise it is basically just making a new sub-forum.

The group that's been called the Comicsgate cinematic universe on MATI could very reasonably be their own subforum at this point. Since sub-forums are for audiences, then I think splitting Internet Famous and Culture Wars is a very reasonable thing to do. Internet Famous could be kept for people that are more apolitical wierdos, and Culture Wars can hold the people on political missions (grifts or otherwise).

Isn’t that just “Lolcow & Lolcow LLP”? But, regardless, I don’t think that’s a good idea. Gutting Greer, Stebbins (and perhaps even Scott’s threads) could leave them pretty hollow. A lot of good meat has come from the legal stuff, and I’m not sure how Greer and Stebbins threads would work without a lot of reference to the lawsuits. And if we don’t gut them, there’s gonna be a lot of semi-empty duplicate threads (see Melinda’s situation).

I think option 2 Where its repurposed as Culture War makes the most sense. To me a culture war board would help in finding specific types of retards to laugh at.

Other option is leave it as is and just let it turn into a place to laugh at the different spergs in the anime community

I'm considering the following for Weeb Wars:

Icon: Balldo
Name: Grift Wars
Description: Either
A. The Culture Wars will be won by the e-daddy with the biggest Patreon.
B. The fate of Western civilization depends on who stars in the next Disney movie.
Option A is Funnier

So if the board is to be revived from its current state, I need to know who it's for and who goes in it. I was thinking a general "Culture Wars" board for the Podcast Race and their associates. This would make it a narrower subsection of Internet Famous.
I think a "Culture Wars" is too broad, it's more broad than "Internet Tough Guys" which is already pretty broad - I visit the Patrick & friends threads, and while I don't bother clicking on, say, Cyrax's thread, it's easy to intuitively understand immediately why each thread is placed in ITG instead of Lolcows or Internet Famous.

On the other hand, basically every streamer with any sort of political bent is a culture warrior because that is what generates clicks and views. I scrolled down the first page of the Internet Famous board and it looks like at least half of the names would arguably fit a Culture Wars board. Take Gonzalo Lira. He's currently best known for streaming his strident support of Russia while in Ukraine and getting arrested for it, which doesn't really fit in with "Culture Wars". On the other hand, he's also famous for being "Coach Red Pill". Does Gonzo stay in Internet Famous or move to Culture Wars? Seems like there's an argument for both; I don't see how you cleanly delineate between Internet Famous or Culture Wars without creating confusion. Even with less explicitly political creators like Fantano or Ethan Klein, one could make a plausible argument they should go to Culture Wars.

A Rekieta board would be able to accommodate every thread still active in Weeb Wars, plus:
  • Drexel
  • A lot else from the Rekieta thread could be spun out, like Rekieta Law Locals, Camelot331, thirst-posting Sally, etc.
  • LawTube and Comicsgate thread in Community Watch + spinoffs (the lawyer trying to reinvent himself as Bangkok Andrew Tate might be able to sustain a thread in a subforum)
  • Montagraph
  • Spectre from the Ralph subforum
  • You could also move Dick Masterson/Chris Vito Gesualdi and friends + enemies like Maddox, because Rekieta got his start covering the Maddox case. Mainly because it would be funny for Dick to pretend to not be pissed about being in a Rekieta subforum with an "Orbiter" tag rather than the other way around.
If a Rekieta Extended Universe or Nick&Dick Extended Universe subforum is off the table, I think it makes more sense to salvage the active threads and close the board.

Drexel hasn't had a podcast since 2022. His current Internet presence appears to consist of being on Discord posting creep shots and on Twitter chasing bussy.

Agreeing with @The Man With No Name and @Seafarer - "Culture Wars" makes a lot more sense and has more potential.
I think a “Culture Wars” or some other bs name would be a good board

Can incorporate a lot of different threads into it from different areas. Too much of the spergy culture war autism is spread out and having it all in one place for a good laugh would be nice.
Culture Wars is a fantastic idea for a subforum. Never was able to get into the whole Kick Vic/Weeb Wars thing, and I'm sure there's plenty of users who would agree. There's a lot of history there and it's almost unassailable for someone happening upon it too late.

Meanwhile, the idea of "Culture Wars" is broad enough that there will, almost certainly, be something in there to interest anyone browsing it.

@Null here is what I am thinking:

“Culture Wars”
- Anti-SJW Woke critical channels like The Quartering, Mauler/EFaP (which needs a better OP btw), Raging Golden Eagle, Clownfish TV, and Doomcock (doesn’t have a thread yet but he’s a been a sideshow in the Star Wars Greifing Thread for a long time). Any of the fat weebs who have made it their lives mission to save the west by pumping out videos about WOKE lesbian Wiccan rock people shows. (Make sure to donate to their Patreons!!!)

-BreadTube video essayist types like hbomberguy, Dan Olsen, Lindsay Ellis, Jim Sterling, anyone who unironicly makes videos with titles like “(X piece of media) is a queer masterpiece”, “(X piece of media) is Fascist propaganda”, “Why (X piece of media) is problematic”, etc. Any of the fat genderblobs who have made it their lives mission to destroy capitalism by pumping out videos about HECCIN VALID Lesbian Wiccan rock people shows. (Make sure to donate to their Patreons!!!)

-Members of entertainment media industries who are far too outspoken about their views, such as Monica Rial, Tara Strong, and Froskurinn.

This board should be for lolcows who are primarily politispergs relating to entertainment media, people like Sargon of Akkad and Vaush are general politispergs who wouldn’t belong on the board. Also excluded should be BreadTube types primarily concerned with trans issues like ContraPoints and PhilosophyTube.

I concur. I was a bit concerned that Culture Wars could turn into a Stinkditch 2.0 because it really revolves around trannies nowadays however if Stinkditch is reserved for tranny specific lolcows who sperg about tranny things than I think that's a good idea. But Culture Wars sounds so broad that can encompass cows in many different boards like Internet Famous, Rat Kings, Internet Tough Guys, Rat Kings and Stinkditch.
Trannies who don't make their lolcows milk about being trans can go in Stinkditch. Would ultra handmaidens go in Culture Wars or Stinkditch?

“Grift Wars: The Fandom Menace” would be a good title, it’d be appropriate since a lot of these people got their start/big push from making either repetitive videos about “Disney GOES WOKE in TERRIBLE NEW STAR WARS MOVIE”, or autistic and pretentious videos about “The Last Jedi is a criminally underrated Masterpiece”.
Would ultra handmaidens go in Culture Wars or Stinkditch?
If most of their content is geared towards trannies and trans rights issues, and less about entertainment media, then I think they’d belong in Stinkditch, whereas if they are more geared towards videos about entertainment media and cover a variety of leftist subjects, they’d belong in Grift Wars.

I'm kind of new here, so take my opinion with a grain of salt lol
I think this board should just be archived and maybe have a new forum dedicated to a new lolcow that deserves it, like Nick Rekieta and his friends, or tiktok lolcows, or something. idk I'm not null lol

I agree with some version of the "Culture Wars" idea, perhaps with a focus on general fandoms, media, consoomer culture, etc etc. Video games, 'nerd' communities, reddit, it's all connected by one primary thing: People want to slapfight and grift off social questions.

There's an endless, repetitive cycle of discourse on Xitter alone, and the cancellations, shitstorms, and cows that result have real impact. There's plenty of material, so broadening discussion past the Vic thing is a great idea.

As someone who joined because of Weeb Wars and met some real interesting people (both lolcows and fellow users) I'll sound like a nostalgic faggot for a second and say I'd like the board retained in some fashion.

The option of repurposing it to a general culture wars probably sounds the most attractive. As some others pointed out, it might be too broad.

It could be a board dedicated to generalized threads, as opposed to specific cow threads that could go into their specific boards. Kind of like Happenings, but more gay.
