If I had to guess, the protagonist was SO EFFEMINATE that they had to change him into a girl or retool the entire thing to make it less gay. They chose the former option as it was easier and cheaper. They know woke doesn't sell and they need money.

I was cautiously optimistic about Hexed when the first announcement came out but this just tells me they had no faith in the original premise and had to give it the Elio treatment, guess I'll watch something else come November.

The message of Frozen was always weird to me. Like the lyrics to the song Let It Go are pretty awful from a moral point of view.

It's a holdover from an earlier version of the movie where she was the villain.

They changed it, made a mess of a movie, got rewarded for their incompetence multiple times over, and now here we are, still feeling the effects of that twelve years later.

If this bitch is supposed to be the mom character, I don’t see it. It’s like she’s trying to cosplay being a businesswoman. Also for the love of god Disney, stop having every character’s expression be the bitchy Elsa smirk/bedroom eyes or nervous forced quirky smile.
 
Didn’t think I would have to defend Frozen today, but I think people are being way too harsh on the film.

It wasn’t meant to be moral, it was a character piece that is grey at best. The girl was trapped being treated like the villain for all of her life, by her own parents no less. She had this massive part of herself that she had the burden of having to keep hidden, completing alienating her from her sister, or any real person in her life, as she was told that she would harm them.

What Elsa needed was a semi-controlled environment where she can best learn to manage her gift. She didn’t get that. She instead got the most unhealthy and least productive solution to the problem that was obviously going to lead to some form of eruption.

I disagree with the assertion proposed by @Gorillion others.

She was literally told by her parents that she was bad and that her powers are hurtful. If anything, she was making the moral decision through what she was taught by hiding away from everyone. That is why she was happy, she was free, able to live without constant fear she would harm everyone.

This is then reflected in how she interacts with characters later in the film. With Anna she tries to ice her out afraid of any harm she may cause. She views the emotional harm worth the trade for the physical harm she believes she will cause, then vindicated when she then causes physical harm. First Time in Forever works as a great companion since it both makes her realize the damage she caused is much worse than she thought when singing Let It Go (she will never be free), but also vindicated every fear expressed that she is just a walking problem everyone would be better without. In a messed up way, she is showing she cares and taking responsibility by removing the problem, herself, from everyone else’s life rather than making them have to deal with her. She was even going to allow Hans to kill her to fix the problem.

The entire message of the film was that Elsa needed a support system, a form of love, that would allow her to best control herself and work towards a best case solution to the powers. It wasn’t till she embraced Anna and fixed her own mental state that she was able to be a genuine leader. It was a fairly positive film regarding the idea of bonds and seeking help.
 
For clarity, I'm not saying Frozen is shit specifically because of Let It Go.

I'm saying Frozen is shit because of the general shitty writing that had an idea (importance of sisterly love) it didn't know how to develop so it just didn't develop it and instead told us it was important while the movie wasted half its screentime beating up on a trope (love at first sight) that hadn't been seriously used since 1989.

And its twist that is so poorly implemented it's obvious and makes no sense at the same time.

It's so busy patting itself on the back for being soooo much better than those beloved classic films that it forgot it was supposed to use that hand to write a coherent movie.
