See, Halle, you stupid bitch? That's how you should be when it comes to being cast as a beloved character. You are excited to be able to become the character, not for the character to become exactly like you.
It must be so pathetic that the character that you have to play has to be like you too. These people are so insufferable.

Speaking of getting excited to become the character, this reminds me of Iñaki Godoy who is just thrilled to be the main character of a show that he's a fan of.

I just saw the ad for the new Little Mermaid animated show where they negrofied the whole series and it made me think about some article that said 60% of all video games played in 2024 were released in 2014 or later, which shows that most gamers prefer classic games over the new shit being produced. To me that's entirely understandable.

I have a feeling we'll see a similar trend with the TV shows and movies parents allow their kids to watch.

I have many issues with the live action One Piece but there was genuine effort involved and some of the meetings were done well.

My personal favourite remains him meeting Luffy's VA.

Strange how the people screaming about representation are fine with a 23 year old Mexican man playing a role voiced by a 69 year old Japanese woman.

Today is Donald Duck's 90th birthday. In commemoration, Disney dropped.....this.

Now, the primary emotion this gives me, ouside of nostalgic glee (Donald was my favorite of the classic Disney troupe when I was younger, so much so that I used to own the Disney Treaures sets of his shorts - I was a spoiled little autistic nigglet), is....fury. Not because this short is bad or anything, no, actually quite the opposite. It's....good. Shockingly good. Like, they got it exact. The way things go wrong for Donald is pretty true to form to the original shorts, the reuse of Clarence Nash's voice clips gave me the nostalgic feelies, and the animation, sweet Jesus, the animation! Look at how fluid it looks, look at the use of squash and stretch! THIS IS HOW DISNEY ANIMATION IS SUPPOSED TO BE!

...........

WHY CAN'T YOU PUT THIS AMOUNT OF EFFORT INTO ALL OF YOUR WORKS?! YOU GUYS CLEARLY STILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO MAKE GOOD, FAMILY-FAMILY CONTENT THAT APPEALS TO ALL AGES. AND WHAT DO YOU FUCKERS CHOOSE TO GIVE US INSTEAD?

GARBAGE.
God, it's almost like they're outright mocking us with this short. "Oh, we still have the potential to make good things, but we'll keep giving you garbage instead, because bigoted chuds like you don't deserve to have nice things."

I dunno, the short still looks off to me. The weight feels off especially in how they try to make things squash and stretch like ye olden days, like Donald's eyelids don't go all the way down to expose the insides when he facepalms, and objects don't get the focus they deserve like the propane canister not getting a shot for itself for that "oomph" of upcoming doom. The artwork is too clean, especially for the backgrounds, which means that Donald doesn't exactly pop out and then I have to ask if he's even in the same dimension as the backdrops. Hell, there's things missing when there needs to be everything for a fuller impact, like there should be more falling plaster when the cracks grow; drops of mixture spraying when Donald goes out of control with the mixer; his car's tires should be smoking/leaving behind skid-marks when he zooms back to the store; when the house explodes, there's just no smoldering foliage to be had in the background; Donald's not even molting much when he's spazzing. And the musical cues might also not be synced up correctly, especially when it comes to trying to match up with his footsteps.

That's just what I've noticed.

It's still way closer than any other so called tribute they've produced in the last 20 years, including that Mickey cartoon.

I’m not an art guy, but it looks a bit like how everything used to be animated in Flash back in the day. I’m not saying it was (and honestly, I don’t think it was). This just gives me Adobe Flash vibes when compared to the older Donald shorts. Mind, it’s a step in the right direction, and I wish they’d just relearn 2D already.

I KNEW he was a mestizo! I suspected halfer pajeet as well.

Not at all surprising. D.I.E.-related products have to shill nogs at all times for the extra Fink shekels, and they get bonus points for shoving them into cultures and iconography that aren't their own, like niggers in Valhalla. Of course, you'll never see a jewish mythology terminally nigger'd, and that's the kosher point. When you delve the past however, you find stuff that is both respectful and accurate to the culture being represented. If it happens to be artistic, creative, beautiful AND has good gameplay to boot it's like discovering a piece of gold. Pic related.

but that doesn't excuse him from being a complete retard.
and Bob got so much shit for that decision that he spent more time talking about Twin Peaks than even his replacement CEO or leaving Disney in his Bio.
That's just what I've noticed.
not an animator but the thing i noticed is that everything about the cartoon is retro as shit. meaning whomever animated it tried to make it old school, the hardware store wasn't gigantic, the house and its layout is post-war sized, his car has a decent shape to it and stuff like the garden hose or lack of television means that its a different team than who usually makes shit for disney. To put it in a nicer way, the people that worked on this "cared about canon" in a way disney employees usually don't.

Because it's not hand drawn. Everything is done on computers because "cost-effectiveness" or whatever bullshit they drudge up. You'd be hard-pressed to find a studio that does anything traditional these days, including Disney.

They COULD have made it better. They could have went the CupHead route and made it to a clone of what the decade-old shows USED to look like, but that would require just a tiny bit more effort that nu-Disney is not going to give considering their priorities are on "other" things.

So I deicide to watch The Black Cauldron, a movie that I have not seen in over 20 years.
I know it is consider to be one of Disney biggets flop (until recently) and boy I can see why.
Some pointers
Taran is not a good protagainst. He is brash, annoying and have his heads up in the clouds all the time. I understand why they made him like that, but it didn't work for this movie.
The fluffball is awful and should have never been in the movie. I was happy that he died.
The horned king have a badass design and John Hurt is awesome as always.
The animations is damn good and you can see the money on the screen.
Not a lot of music in it.
I liked the girl character.
If it was not current day Disney sucked so much ASS, I would say that this movie would be perfect for a remake. Maybe closer to the source material.

I haven’t read it myself, but I heard the source material is classic fantasy

The Black Cauldron deserves a remake, but the Horned King wouldn't remain scary and badass, the sword fantasy aspect would've been neutered and therefore no cool swordplay, and they'd also tone down the witches because cleavage bad.
