Social media impression for Inside Out 2 seem to be glowing (actual reviews drop tomorrow). Won't waste your time with quotes, it's your typical overwhelming positivity.

I just care about if it's woke or not. What was social media saying in that regard outside of "muh anxiety rep"?

Because it's not hand drawn. Everything is done on computers because "cost-effectiveness" or whatever bullshit they drudge up. You'd be hard-pressed to find a studio that does anything traditional these days, including Disney.

They COULD have made it better. They could have went the CupHead route and made it to a clone of what the decade-old shows USED to look like, but that would require just a tiny bit more effort that nu-Disney is not going to give considering their priorities are on "other" things.
I don't think it's just a matter of cost or for that matter, actually having people who know how to animate things the old fashion way. No, I think it has more to do with being able to fix things more quickly digitally.

Why on earth did they repurpose the Moana TV series as a movie?

Your company is getting absolutely blasted at the box office so you half-ass a sequel to one of your most popular recent movies? How does that make any sense?

Because the first movie made a lot of money and they are banking on IPs.

That and putting movies on Disney+ first caused them to make less money in the long run.

If it was not current day Disney sucked so much ASS, I would say that this movie would be perfect for a remake. Maybe closer to the source material.
It's a hard thing to do because the books had a lot more time and space to work with things. Taran in particular suffers from this because the books are his journey and he shifts a lot over the course of them from whiney beginnings.

I can't say Gurgi is good in the books but he is better. To a degree his purpose is how he matters to Taran's story. In the early books he's one of the few beings someone as feeble as Taran can help and protect and the loyalty he can display is part of the influence he has over how Taran develops.

Eilonwy may be the closest to the books but she still was rushed too. I think her depiction in the early books helps with this not being as obvious since, for all that she is a character that seems to never have a thought enter her head that doesn't make it to her mouth, she is keeping stuff back (partially out of ignorance) and most of that comes up in the third book which was not part of the two used for the film.
I haven’t read it myself, but I heard the source material is classic fantasy
It's fairly good. The influences of other popular works of the time show but I don't regret reading them.

Also, because it's Kiwi Farms and someone will find it funny, the author's full name is Lloyd Chudley Alexander.

Inside Out 2's currently certified fresh on RT (debuted at 90%, original is 98% and most likely won't be topped).

Still haven't heard anything about this. The movie seems to be fairly vague regarding any kind of romance. There is Mt. Crushmore, a place with four blurry faces but that's all I'm aware of.
The movie is 100 percent setting her up as a lesbian who wants to fuck the varsity hockey team captain.

IIRC, Riley realizes she's a lesbian.

I don't see it happening since Disney only does gay characters if they can be edited out of the movie for other countries or only says they're gay in press tours

So I am calling a bluff on this.

This. Disney is sketchy about this. Sometimes they just remove the implied scenes in Asian territories; other times, the movie doesn’t even show in Asian theatres due to them. How prevalent the lesbian scenes are determines that.

Yeah and given how much Disney wants to play it even safer after their 2023 bombs, I doubt they’d want the movie they are banking on to make them a lot of money to have any prominent gay scenes.
