I think Shrek 5 being good would actually be able to net it 1 Billion dollars given how ingrained in meme culture Shrek is for multiple generations.
I wonder if they'll acknowledge the iconic greentext story. 1000005476.png

I think what it comes down to for both movies is if they're good.

I think Shrek 5 being good would actually be able to net it 1 Billion dollars given how ingrained in meme culture Shrek is for multiple generations. If it's also a good movie, it would get people to see, though I'm concerned with the director's last movies being the Trolls movies, the story idea from Illumination's CEO, and the screenplay being written by someone whose notable credits include the Austin Powers sequels and both Boss Baby movies.

Toy Story 5 on the other hand is really unnecessary and I don't see it doing well unless miraculously it has something to appeal to people. Toy Story 4 I heard was just okay, but not a masterpiece like 3 and there was still a lot of good will after 3.
So they getting people who consistently get return on investment and deliver safe predictable 6/10 movies that parents can take their kids too without worrying about weird bullshit too much?

Like who the fuck are you expecting to be brought on board with "artistic vision" to a fucking Shrek movie? Anyone in hollywood with artistic vision will want to have heroic pooner Fiona humiliate shrek and have Shreks kids become trans species ogre (they are human on the inside bigot)

Shrek was a series that built itself on being edgy and being a mockery of everything Disney is.

If Shrek 5 is to just be a safe, generic kids film than it misses the point and becomes slop. It will just be any other franchise if it takes that route.

Also The Last Wish was the last Shrek-related movie and it was actually good and had talented people involved in it.

>lyrical pop soprano
>man 5' 10" to 6' 0"

There is no way that there will ever be a troon that can actually sing soprano without the help of voice filters, and I've never seen a pooner over 5' 5". This is basically announcing that you're not really looking for trannies, you just want asspats.

What was edgy 20 years ago is now safe. Meanwhile Disney has abandoned safe for full blown cultural revolution propaganda.

Shrek has a land at a major theme park now. Its gonna be safe. What did Puss in Boots do that wasnt safe? It just followed the old school Pixar formula of a a movie with adult themes portrayed in a kid safe container. It had a hyper traditional container for its story and didnt really subvert any expectations.

Not to mention it had a REALISTIC DEPICTION OF A PANIC ATTACK (TM)

Shrek 5 should be interesting. Will people watch it because they want the story to continue or will they only see it for the memes? I also am interested in it competing with Toy story. Two of the companies flagship franchises going at it. I can see Shrek 5 going better. It's been over a decade and I can see fans hungry for a sequel. Most fans agreed Toy Story 4 was unnecessary. A 5th title might be too much. Unless they can think of the perfect plot. I'd like to see Shrek 5 focus on an older Shrek. Since it's been years it would be fun to let him age. I hate how the Dispectable Me movies keep the girls the same age because that is where they are most markable.

Even Pixar, the indie studio to Disney's EA, realized that the best way to make money is to play it safe and stick with what works. No more tweenage red pandas twerking in front of their moms, no sir!

Edit: Take with a grain of salt but Disney had a 1.1TB leak.

oof, I can fit that on my server but not on my download drive
qbittorrent-web is absolutely struggling with the file list but there are many, many files under 100mb that can be skipped, but other then the file size there's no way to figure out what the files are. largest file is 32gb smallest is a few kb

From what I can tell there is no way to see what's inside and sift through everything without downloading it. The leaker upped a pdf of a Young Jedi Adventures promo sheet. Otherwise, not much.

I'm assuming that the larger files are videos and the smaller files are images or other crap. I'm skipping the download of anything smaller then 1GB which brings it down to 790gb, which is a size that will fit on my downloading ssd. that accounts for maybe 1% of the total files in the download, but if even one of them is an unreleased movie that's decent it's a score.

ETA jumps between 11-22 days but I'll set the biggest five files to high priority so i can unzip them and see what they are

If it turns out to just be a scrape of the Disney+ server I'll be annoyed

some of the smaller files that finished dowloading others have found to be things like map coordinates and screeshots of Disney+, but nobody has downlaoded more then 60% of the archive so there's only one seeder. as more people download the entire thing and become seeders the download speed should improve.

What was safe 30 years ago was considered edgy the last 30 years.

Nothing in the original Shrek is edgy, at best more toilet humour and a twist on tropes that aren't new and in some ways fit as better aesops.

It includes non TV cinema. Boomers wanted to feel as rebels so they bought into idea that drugs and hating religion is going against the system instead of being the system.

I instantly thought of that meme when watching that scene. That aside, I liked Inside Out 2. By today's standards, it's a damn good Pixar film and had no DEI or other insufferable shit I can really recall. The weirdest thing I can recall is a finding it weird a hijab wearing high school girl would be allowed to play hockey.

What’s really surprising is that they portrayed heterosexual attraction, as a normal, innocent thing no less, which you would think is verboten in those circles. I guess that keeps it safe for normies.

The panic attack scene didn’t hit hard for me because all I could see was Bionic the Hedgehog :stupid:. Anxiety kinda carried since the writers got the most use out of her. I still miss the “old” Pixar that pushed adventure and higher (if not wider) stakes. It’s definitely more likeable than Turning Red, it’s just missing this certain touch.
