I saw many of the early reviews and man it really is alarming that Zegler has the best performance in this movie while some say this is Gadot's worst performance.

Like I am not going to watch this trash to find out since the whole movie seems really insufferable.

Anyway this is some great marketing for Lilo and Stitch

The difference is that the original marketing they literally created animations for it and brought back voices and shit. Stuff you'd assume would be even easier to do for live action, but instead they just do posters like a teenager with a deviant art account

Yeah it feels like an obligation and rehashing a creative concept, whereas the original was more unexpected and crazy with how it promises a story by Disney that's crazier than normal and then the switcheroo is a grounded story about family than a grand tale not many could relate to while still being fun.

Hell this marketing of being half assed compared to the original is emblematic of the movie like how the aliens can't wear horrible disguises but just look like regular humans like every other story of aliens infiltrating earth, and even gags like how they replaced the dumb tourist whose scoop of ice cream fall off with a snow cone guy because you can't make tourists look stupid, we need to advertise the Disney Hawaiian resorts here

Oddly enough, the discussingfilm review praised Rachel's performance big time, and said Gal Gadot's could be her worst yet. They still gave the movie a 2/5 lol
This is fairly common. Look at any bad movie with a high profile controversy. The critics don't want to completely trash the film and let the CHUDS win, so they'll point to an actor (usually a minority), and say the actor gave a great performance in an otherwise bad movie.

Having seen parts of the film, I can actually concur that Zegler is...not too bad in it if you forget her being a toxic cunt IRL and her singing is definitely better than the black chick who played Ariel at least. I didn't think Gal Gadot was any worse here than she's been in any other movie but that's because she's never been able to give a performance worth a damn so maybe it's just film critics being honest about her shit acting for once.

Not that this makes the movie any good, it's like two completely different films fighting for screen time, one of which is total woke trash and another which is trying to be more faithful to the original animation.

Looks like even the annoying breadtubers are getting in on the hate. I'm still not sure how much I believe that title, and I'm sure as hell not going to give him the watch and ad revenue. 1742510763298.png

It's always interesting the cycle. The film is a mess and lots of reshoots. Shortly before release the film apparently is pretty decent. Right before release the film is actually good. After release. It's awful.

I can see the title only because it is rare for a single actor to tank the movie they're in. Like some films can survive off of an actor making dumb statements.

Only exception is extreme cases like Ezra Miller who do the most heinous shit while the movie is in the press tour stage.

But as for this, it probably comes simply that the movie isn't good, bad word of mouth, and people are being burnt out on live action remakes. Not to mention they are going to come to Disney+ pretty close to the theatrical release window.

Has Gadot ever had a good performance??? Even at her peak (Fast 5) she was just supposed to be IDF calendar eye candy.

That whole "preamble" they read was pure garbage. The two main reasons why you had such a visceral "right wing" backlash from the film in the first place was 1) because of Rachel Zegler's own dumbass comments which, to a certain extent, the author of that "preamble" recognized and 2) because of consistent behavior on Disney's part to re-write and re-work their past animated films to suit a "modern audience". If Rachel Zegler had kept her mouth shut (at least until the movie had come out) and this "re-make" was essentially the first in line of a series of future animated movies Disney would remake, than there pretty much wouldn't have been an initial backlash. The backlash is pretty much only there because of pattern recognition and spite from Disney although the feeling at this point is quite mutual for some people.
