The success of A Minecraft movies shows there's people desperate to take their kids out to see slop and just how damaged the Disney brand is. That entire audience would have been there for Disney with out recent dumb choices. It's why garbage like the Aladdin live action made a billion.

From what I have gathered the film isn't good, but younger kids like it and parents don't want to kill themselves watching it. I haven't heard of there being any "the message" shit in it.

I liked John Carter and hope it gets a new adaption. For a film where it's name is considered a reason for why it flopped. "Who the fuck is John Carter?" We now live in an era where the actual name, A Princess of Mars. Would be considered a title with baggage that'd flop because of girl boss overload in recent years.
I will say another factor in the Minecraft Movie's success despite the fact it is the most popular video game IP right now, it's that there is some sincerity to it.

Disney has a knack in their live action remakes to basically dismiss their past and constantly have this insecurity in both the movie and press tours to have people on the film say "yeah the old movie sucks, but our new vision is more relevant" with insincere quips about how stupid certain things are in the older film. The Minecraft Movie, while it does quip and has moments where the characters are like "isn't this weird" balances it out with some sincerity since Jack Black's performance isn't the greatest thing ever, but he was very committed to the bit and took the role seriously. That by itself is what also contributed to the success and why the film became a massive meme because people were willing to enjoy something sincere even if its an ironic enjoyment since it looked fun.

Basically what I'm saying that a Popular IP + Sincerity that embraces how corny it is = More Money

tbh John Carter wasn't even bad
I accept we're not going to get Frank Frazetta's Edgar Rice Burroughs' A Princess Of Mars (A Bob Clampett Cartooo~on) with tig ol' biddies
until at least a few years from now when machine-generation gets better
obviously naked people will be the most advanced sciences, and "XX art style" is already the hotness
so we're most of the way there
but yeah "A Princess Of Mars" is an awful title to get people to see see Cool Dude Kicks Martian Ass And Scores unless you can somehow REALLY sell "And after he kicks martians in the dick he will bang.... A PRINCESS OF MARS (who has big tits)"
actually THERE we go
A Princess Of Mars Who Has Really Big Tits And Is Mostly Naked
it respects the title of the original work, the author's intent, AND updates it for modern sensibilities!

Anyone want to sperg about Bolt? I thought the girl in it, played by Miley Cyrus, was pretty cute as a kid, she had a cute voice.

Which Jack Black is he? Is he the ridiculously vulgar and unlikeable one like from Gulliver's Travels or the half decent one from School of Rock or a background character like King Kong? I'd like to know before I watch the pirated version with the horrible incomplete CGI

A relatively low cost film starring a well-known and successful movie star.

Who is John Carter?

Definitely not those things.
No one demanded they make such an obnoxiously high budget film. Same with the lone ranger.

There was apparently tons of behind the scenes chaos, supposed it was another Emperor's new groove situation where they had to remake an entire movie and that's why the plot they gave people was entirely different from the stupid very comedic movie we got.

A bit odd to think Miley has a cute voice, she always sounded raspy

The one from that atari commercial:

I only saw it once, but I liked the Lone Ranger...

Disney has to be doing something odd with their budgets, they spend so much more money than other studios. Wicked seems like an elaborate production with lots of practical and VFX and cost like half of what Snow White did.

There was that one 2009 adaptation starring Traci Lords as Dejah. I know she hates that movie but i was thoroughly entertained.

But why does Jason Momoa look like a child predator in this?

It's the director who did Napoleon Dynamite, so he thinks it's quirky for things to be odd-looking. The character is meant to be a guy who peaked in the 80s or early 90s and is stuck in the past with arrested development or something. I don't really know. I will never see the film.

Disneyland has revealed a major change — and fans say it's a recession red flag.

The House of Mouse's California theme park is now openly inviting membership inquiries for its ultra-exclusive Club 33.

Until recently, Club 33 membership wasn't publicly advertised.

However, Disneyland has now added an information page — complete with an inquiry link — to its official app.

The elite private dining club, founded in 1967 by Walt Disney himself, has famously been shrouded in secrecy with Elton John, Tom Hanks, Katy Perry, and Tiger Woods rumored to be members.

'Learn about the legendary private Membership club founded by Walt Disney at the Disneyland Resort,' the information page read.

'Members enjoy special access and exceptional service at Club 33 locations within the Disneyland Resort.

The change was first noticed by fans last week but Disneyland claims membership inquiries have been available for over a year.

Some quickly quickly speculated the change was a sign Disney is looking to boost revenue ahead of a possible recession

I mean yeah you pretty much got it, the guy's a manchild living through his glory days of being a 80s-90s game champ
