when an american grows up on a military base and makes a story with a blatant stand in who's similarly friendless and lonely it leads to a $200 million dollar flop of a film that revolves around being a fag

I love we have an example from both sides of the Pacific. It's almost like people need to be entertained first and to have actual relatability with characters in order to sympathize and idolize once their attentions have been captivated.

Funny that.

They both have the main characters mostly defeat their enemies through hugs and friendship too. Naruto also has way more sexual and homoerotic scenes than Elio too, so it doesn't even win on those factors.

turns out people don't care if the plot of the media is all about trauma and feelings and other gay stuff like that if a majority of the runtime revolves around cool action scenes.

I was watching Toy Story 2 recently and its crazy just how "actiony" it is compared to modern Pixar, where it feels like the characters just emote or joke around and don't do much.

I know as a kid i tolerated the Woody scenes in that film because of the Buzz scenes making up for it. Pixar forgot that part. You need the entertainment if you want to lecture people.

Oh joy, Adam Ellis wants us to leave the multibillion dollar corporations alone.

I’m trying to understand what the message is supposed to be. Is he shitting on anime? Are you not allowed to complain if you’re still learning to do art? I don’t need to be Gordon Ramsey to know that a dish tastes bland.

Shitting on anime is fucking rich considering the absolute DEI niggershit state that his beloved Western beanslop is in.

Easily exploitable. He's trying to make this a meme where people replace the goku with whatever they want but it's 2025 and I'm too lazy to even tell grok to do it.

Honestly don't know how fake and gay this channel is, but I saw this on my dash and I'm just all like "Uh, yeaaah? Why is no one talking about it more?"

Jesus this really highlights how bad the characters looked in Luca. The eyes especially were so uncanny. It reminds me of those old hyper-realistic photoshops of cartoon characters were you can see every individual hair and pore.

The characters looked really faggy in their as well. Not cool but faggy like Naruto and Sasuke, but straight up Steven Universe tier FAGGOTY

A decade ago, Pixar made The Good Dinosaur. And everyone and their mother who watched it said "uh...these Play Dough looking dinosaurs look really weird next to the super realistic background...".

Now, here we are. Ten years later. Somehow, Pixar has learned nothing and instead decided that should be the default route all their movies take.

I've been watching a series chronicling early Walt Disney, from the Oswald days up to Snow White, and it’s night and day compared to what we have now. Say what you want about Walt the man—tyrannical, obsessive, overbearing—but he was a creator. He was a man possessed by vision. In the 1930s, when people were barely transitioning out of silent pictures, Walt was already investing in full color, stereophonic sound, multiplane cameras, and pseudo-3D techniques. He got mocked relentlessly. His colleagues thought he was out of his mind. He gambled the company on what people called “Disney’s Folly.” And he was right. Every time.

And even as arguably the most powerful man in entertainment, Walt still pushed his animators, his composers, his imagineers to innovate—not for the sake of checking boxes or chasing trends, but because he believed in moving the medium forward. The man didn’t just want to make cartoons—he wanted to change how people dreamed.

That mentality doesn’t exist at Disney anymore. It’s now run by coastal millennial executives who think Twitter threads and Tumblr discourse from 2013 are a substitute for vision. Instead of art, we get aesthetics. Instead of stories, we get talking points repackaged as character arcs. Half the writers now think they’re sociologists just because they once wrote a Steven Universe fanfic that got a lot of notes.

And then people wonder why Disney content feels like it was built in a lab to be "discussed" online for 48 hours and then forgotten. It's not that the movies are "too political." That’s a surface-level diagnosis. The problem is they’re superficially political—crafted to virtue signal how global and enlightened they are without doing any of the narrative legwork or creative risk-taking that earns that kind of resonance.

The sincerity that once defined Disney—and Broadway too, for that matter—is considered cringe now. Earnest emotion is out. Meta, self-referential, irony-poisoned slop is in. Everything wants to be clever but nothing wants to be felt. It’s all marvel quips, half-hearted arcs, and deeply unlikeable characters that get praised not for being compelling but for regurgitating the “correct” worldview. It's content for people who think moral superiority is a personality trait.

It's nicer than buying some cheap Chinese trinket at the park.
ironically enough back in the day at Disneyland they basically had a big barrel full of legit production cells and you'd dig around and get whatever cheap because it was a waste product
sorta like how anime cels were mostly cheap

Yes, my cousin had a couple from the Robin Hood film. Wasn't anyone's favorite movie but they were a neat thing on her wall.

It does looks like some sort of Steven Universe in 3D now that you mention it. I don't know how to feel about the general stevenification of Disney/Pixar in all levels :(

For some reason I cant reply directly to X-avier cuck but I wanted to add despite the jokes and largely incorrect pop culture references to his character Walt Disney was a man of honor by all accounts. After reading a decent biography o him I really came to understand why he did the things he did and finally understood that how we all laugh and say the Disney parks are "fake" that was his specific goal with them because he was trying to create an ideal family centered fantasy world where families could escape the vulgarity of the actual world around them. Its why seeing fat gay creatures rolling around DW is such an affront to what the whole thing was created for. Walt was a good man.

And yes he was an incredible innovator, this is something completely lacking from all entertainment at this time.

I do believe they're using the original paint to create those cels, and basing them off the original drawing. There's considerable craft and skill involved. Of all of the things that Disney is doing, this is the least offensive and harmful to their IPs. If I could afford it, I'd order a hand drawn cel from Disney, although I don't think they would approve of my selection:

To this day I refuse to buy Fantasia on Blu-ray until I get the uncut version. I will not accept your crude pan and scan / airbrush / carpet unrolling itself, mouse.

I finally watched fantasia, having never seen it before. It is an absolute masterpiece of art. The fusion of music and animation. It was inspiring, and uplifting. Finally, it was depressing, as I realised that no modern piece of animation could compare, and likely no future piece of animation could compare to it.

What happened? When did we lose this from culture?

I'm happy for them too - happy that they'll get what they fucking deserve when it's THEIR favorite Disney movie being sacrificed on the live-action woke altar. In fact, no. Don't just do "the same but worse". Go all the fucking way.

Atlantis: Milo is a black chick, just like Kida and also gay for her. The racial stereotypes of the crew are amped up to obnoxious levels because DIVERSITY, and Helga was secretly a double agent getting rid of Rourke because no female can ever be an out-and-out villain, ever.

Treasure Planet: Jim becomes Jeanette, she immediately catches on to the fact that Silver is planning a mutiny, her and Captain Amelia (whom she is gay for, sorry Doppler) team up to stop it and take all of the treasure for themselves, Silver gets thrown in jail, the Benbow Inn is reopened as a sanctuary for gay aliens.

Hunchback of Notre Dame: Quasimodo is gay for Phoebus, Esmerelda is an independent woman who don't need no man, and Frollo is cut in favor of a new female Mother Gothel-esque villain ("I know what's best for you, Quasi dear!")

The Rescuers Down Under: Cody is a aboriginal kid and Bianca reject Bernard's proposal because GIRLBOSS.

I expect my millions in the mail by tomorrow, Iger. Cash only.

You want to know the ultimate irony in this post from Adam.
Not only did he defend the Bean-Mouth style before, but he also essentially edited a pic he had already created and posted it, thinking nobody would notice, of course, everyone did.

It's not surprising he would defend a CalArts crap since it's disgustingly easy to make and requires no talent to pull off.
