Eh, I know that the original film’s directors said that sapient reptiles (and birds IIRC) were canon to Zootopia’s wider mythology but introducing them into the series in this way makes it feel a bit ham-fisted.

I’ll probably change my tune when I eventually see the film but I’m not hopeful.
Either way, whatever strengths the first flm had will be peed on by this sequel, and lord knows what monster awaits us if they squeeze out a third film a decade from now.

Well it's either that or because they hadn't succumbed to the CGI equivalent of the beanmouth then.

I'm a sucker for oldschool computer animation and I kind of consider Toy Story to be sort of, if not an endcap, then at least the beginning of the end for that style of computer animation; when technological limitations meant they couldn't really recreate realistic scenery, so they had to go with something more abstract. Toy Story does attempt to create a real world, but it still looks very much like an early 90s computer animation world. However, technology kept getting better and I just don't find making photo-realistic environments anywhere as interesting from an artistic standpoint as I find the scenery and characters in something like High Fidelity (1984) or Quest: A Long Ray's Journey Into Light (1986).
There's a trip down memory lane. I was 8-9 when this was considered a crowning achievement.

The reviews for Tron are mixed interestingly enough. Im cautiously optimistic because the modern critics option isn't worth a hill of beans next to the average Joe. Especially when ign gives it a 5 out 10. Im inclined to think that's a good sign.

Isn’t IGN giving anything a score lower than a 7 usually a sign that the cheque didn’t clear so they’ll be honest about it?

If so, fucking lul at the thought of a cheque from Disney bouncing. Or the more likely they just stopped cutting shill cheques rather than hire someone who can actually wrangle these movies into having somewhat reasonable budgets…

Could very well suck, but Id be more worried about the movies quality if it was getting 90 percent from the critics. I like that Disney isn't ball washing it.

The only thing I've heard of Tron is people calling Jared Leto a pedophile which speaks loud and clear to the quality of the movie
All I know about leto is he rents out an island and makes women pay for the privilege of being in his presence while he wears Jesus roleplay.

Edit: I like Leto the same way I like Steven seagal. I know they are almost certainly scumbags in real life, but the ballsy persona they put on amuses or impresses me enough to enjoy their work. At least with Leto I haven't heard of him doing anything recent but I suppose that doesn't mean much. Though, I gotta say that if your dumb enough to pay a couple thousand dollars for the opportunity to meet him on a remote island you get what you pay for.

Thinking back to my first and only trip to Disney world when I was 7...I'm surprised that there wasn't more Winnie the Pooh stuff (I was a fanatic. Still have my old pooh plushes from when I was little) Apparently, its orgin country, England, hardly celebrates the yellow bear and instead focus on fucking Paddington and modern iterations of Peter Rabbit (fuck you James Cordan you talentless twat) so it's really just baffling and disappointing that Disney dosen't try to celebrate Pooh more. He's just used as merchandise. I haven't heard of any decent projects involving him. I guess I'm just a sucker for that cozy series...

isn't the new tron set in the real world with the AI looking like a human or something? It sounds like it'll be mostly generic and could be mistaken for a marvel capeslop movie

I know he got a 2D animated movie in 2011. Other than that, I don't recall any Disney stuff, not even after the original book became public domain. Thinking back, Pooh really comes off as a heartfelt thing in more ways than one, kind of good wholesome stuff for kids that they'd laugh at or like (thinking about finding Tigger funny or laughing at Piglet and Pooh), and adults could get something out of it, too (thinking of relating to Eeyore being sad all the time or possibly thinking back on the innocence of your childhood).

Yeah, but because they're programs they can just keep replicating them in the real world as super soldiers.

The impression I have gotten is that if you just sit back, turn brain off, don't think about it and enjoy the visuals. The slop goes down alright.

"Hmmmm, families aren't going to our parks as much anymore because our attractions are shit/being closed down, our prices are high, and Disney Adults are making them uncomfortable. How do we resolve this?"

"I got it! We raise the prices even HIGHER!"
Under the new pricing, announced Oct. 8, tickets for a one-day, single-park visit to Disney World or Disneyland will now cost — for the first time — more than $200 during peak times. For example, the single-day, single-park ticket during the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s will increase 5% in Orlando to $209 and up 8.7% for Disneyland to $224. Disney says it continues to see strong demand during the holiday periods; in fact, it recently paused sales on one-day, one-park tickets to Magic Kingdom for this upcoming New Year’s Eve due to expected demand.
Most other Disney World single-day, single-park tickets have increased by about an average of $5, while Animal Kingdom park’s least-expensive single-day ticket will remain $119. Disneyland kept its lowest-priced ticket for its slower season at $104 per day; it’s worth noting that the Disney parks’ starting and high-end prices for tickets on sale through October 2026 remain unchanged. Meanwhile, there’s a new discount offering Disney World guests up to $250 off each night of a minimum four-night, room-and-ticket package for most stays from late February to late July 2026.

I may be wrong but I don't remember anyone hating Pooh's universe, and since its' a perfect medium for toddlers and adults with sweet nostalgia I don't understand why they don't try to cash on it. I don't think China is a good enough explication for it so why?

They really pushed pooh big-time in the 90s and 00s for merch and movies and stuff
iirc they originally only had a license but after Classic Pooh blew up they bought the entire IP from the estate
