Its just so painful and sad when you compare the live actions next to the animated originals

Do the parents even know the original animated ones exist? I would be ashamed if I made the live action slop the baseline for my children. I guess it speaks to how checked out parents are these days that they don't seem to give a shit that these make a bajillion dollars. No wonder laws to babysit everyones children are so popular.

"Don't ask questions. Consume the latest product and look forward to more modern slop."

I won't be surprised if they don't bother with the originals at all. I'd always show the originals to my godchildren as much as possible when there's a chance so they'll eventually appreciate them.

Not only does the live action "song" not hold up to the original, it doesn't even hold up to the the "second rate" original sequel villain song for Jafar...

2) Overpopulation.
Imagine the modern hellscape of Western society being so anti-natalist that even the fucking rabbits aren't breeding at replacement levels. Maybe the most realistic thing they could do with the setting. Oddly enough, the burro immigrant population is having an unprecedented boom.

The only good live action movie I'd give Disney credit would be their George of the Jungle movie.
I still think the 90s Jungle Book holds up - the one with Jason Scott Lee, Cary Elwes, and Sam Neill. But, then again, I'd watch Sam Neill read off a list of detergent ingredients if the opportunity arose, so what do I know?

From what we saw in Zootopia, the prey are very much into breeding.

Oh right, I forgot to report on the Disneyland trip I had with the friend/co-worker that suckered me into buying a pass.
  • We scrapped the breakfast at the Grand Californian’s Storytellers Cafe for a Fantasmic brunch package at the River Belle Terrace. We thought the food was okay but ultimately not worth the $65 price tag.
  • We both got the Lightning Lane Multi-Lane pass but we failed to link our passes, leading to some awkward situations involving return times. On the plus side I got to see how pass stacking works in real time and try it out for myself.
  • We went on several rides (I managed to get on a few high-demand ones before meeting up with him) and capped off our visit with riding Big Thunder Mountain and Pirates.
  • We had dinner at Alien Pizza Planet and, paradoxically enough, we enjoyed it more than the brunch we had at the River Belle Terrace. But then again we were smart and got their pasta dishes over their pizza which is surprisingly bad.
  • We enjoyed Fantasmic but the “priority” seating you get with the meal packages are on the cold hard ground with no pads. The show itself was alright but I miss that animatronic Dragon Maleficent that caught on fire.
I’m currently at the park, I might stop by the Grand Californian to pick up some stocking stuffers but it largely depends on time.

Thinking back on the absolute failure of disney Wish.

First of all, i have to add movie to the search, or all google gives me is the fuckass cruiseship, which already shows how relevant this trash is.

Second, disney were on a fucking roll in the early 2010s as far as princesses go. Rapunzel, anna, elsa, moana and tiana were all very well received. But for some reason disney completely missed what actually made those shows so successful and liked by little girls? Girls LOVED those movies because the princesses had beautiful outfits and hairstyles, the romance and friendships were lovely and the songs were pleasant and catchy. Moana was a bit less fashionable and romantic, but the friendship with Maui was entertaining enough to carry it trough.

Frozen especially basically has it all when it comes to appealing to girls: two female main characters who both get multiple fancy pretty outfits, magical powers fantasy, friendship, good songs AND romance. (and its no surprise that kpop demon hunters, which has all of these, is the new movie getting played on endless loop by little girls)

And then look at aisha (and some of their other recent attempts like raya). What was supposed to be a quintessential disney princess for the anniversary.
No romance (even tho ive seen tweens going crazy for the concept art of the magical prettyboy that was turned into the star mascot), boring ass friends, drab & bland main outfit and no change into something nicer at any point in the movie, plain hairstyle (not even any colourful beads or something), songs that suck ass. It has to be intentional at this point, its like they hate their target audience.

I do honestly feel a little bad for little girls these characters are supposed to represent, since disney is now making all these 'diverse' characters but then refuse to give them anything good on all of the aspects that actually matter to them.
Its good tiana came out when she did and not any later, because any later and she probably wouldve been made unfashionable and unloved too.

Encanto seemed like a slight return to form (good songs, interpersonal relations that actually matter, cute outfits including a very pretty dress for the flower sister) and was rewarded for it with success, but i doubt theyll learn from it.
Its hard to believe that this is the same studio that conceptualised and managed to make a masterpiece out of 'hamlet, but in africa with singing lions' :(

Hang on, did Disney not learn anything from Agatha After All? It had one of their lowest production budgets and yet everyone watched it. Why aren't they making more shows like that?
Because they were lying and it actually wasn't watched by everyone, it also still cost an arm and a leg even though it had one of the "lower" budgets. I still don't know why anyone believed the spin on this one.

My personal pet theory is that Wish's story was sabotaged. Comparing the storyboards from the original plot with what we got is like night and day, no one in their right mind would look at the current plot and go "yeah, that's way better." Not to mention there were rumors about "activist interference" not long after Wish's release, but I'm not as sure about that.
I hope this works, uploading videos to the Farms is always a bit of a pain. Here's the playlist if it doesn't.

I'm pretty sure that before Wish dropped they mentioned it would have big Alphabet Mafia representation. I can't find anything referencing that now, though. Anyone else remember hearing it?

Regardless, I don't buy that what they originally planned for Wish would have been good, because it was still being made by talentless hacks. We would have just had one less degree of separation between us and the wasted potential.

Don't worry; most kids don't mind obsessing over whichever has the prettiest outfit or funnest song or whatever, regardless of skin color.

And you didn't mention the worst one; Asha's Asian, disabled friend Dahlia.

This thing just screams background character.

Disney sold this outfit in their parks for six months or so. I saw one person wearing it. One. And she was clearly a big sister to a small child dressed as Asha (the entire family was wearing Wish stuff). So she probably didn't even want to wear it and was just going along with the theme.

No one likes her. Disabled kids? Nope. Asian kids? Nope, they're too busy dressing like Cinderella. Any other type of child? Absolutely not.

Edit: Forgot to mention, after the movie bombed and the merchandise didn't move at all, they started giving huge markdowns, which is rare for Disney parks. All Wish stuff was 40% off, plus other discounts stacking on top of that. This overlapped with the time of year where Disney employees get 40% off the merchandise. So if you worked there, you could get 40% off twice. Still, no one was buying Dahlia's dress. And I could count the Asha dresses I saw on my hands.

If there’s one thing that bothered me about Wish it’s that a few interviews painted Magnifico as Disney’s “most formidable” film villain despite countless other villains (and those who are tangentially related) trumping him in what they can do.
I recently went to a store for Disney's unsold items from their theme parks and cruises. Took a photo of this lovely piece of official art.

This store that sells Disney’s unsold items piques my interest, I doubt it’s anywhere in SoCal though.

That said the art is disturbing, it feels like they were going for a homosexual angle but quickly had to slap Giulia in the middle in an attempt to kill the vibe.

Some overpaid exec thought this would sell. Disabled kids don't want a reminder of their own shortcomings in the first place.

Imagine promoting an ugly fatass for a Disney princess to cater to the "fat positivity" crowd.

Wrong coast, I'm afraid. I thought it looked like a very lazy attempt at stained glass, but I also think your idea is correct.

Darn, I guess I’m stuck with the Disneyland Resort’s yearly Goodwill-backed lost and found sale for the foreseeable future.

But it’s not all bad, almost all of the items are dirt cheap and Disney donates some unsold merch for the sale.
