Racist against humans? We knew that, didn't we?View attachment 8335277
This just popped in on my Failbook fee. The actor for Jake Sully's wife is now claiming that her character is racist.

I think they have a hard time dealing with the fact that a racist can be a moral and relatable hero.Yep, it was there in the Way of Water, given the events of the first film. It grows stronger in Fire and Ash in the wake of Neteyam's death. It's one of the core character dramas and struggles in the new film, but even though fucking obvious and simple done. Apparently, it's too subtle for the average movie goer. Like most of the plot, themes and ideas in the new film if online comments are anything to go by.
I think they have a harder time dealing with the fact that a racist may not be a white male.I think they have a hard time dealing with the fact that a racist can be a moral and relatable hero.
It sounds like it was the actress who was taking issue with the fact she played a racist, and thus inciting the masses follow suit with it. Like did she not realize this during filming, or was it okay for a black woman to play a racist but she didn't realize the masses was going to cry foul?I think they have a hard time dealing with the fact that a racist can be a moral and relatable hero.
Could be.I think they have a harder time dealing with the fact that a racist may not be a white male.
Anti-white racism had been ok for a while. Did they not like that mirror? It sounds like it was the actress who was taking issue with the fact she played a racist, and thus inciting the masses follow suit with it. Logic, common sense and human nature are beyond their understanding. But, "fuck these people who came here from far away and making everything worse," is literally the most relatable thing ever.
Apparently, in-universe it has been ONE YEAR from the moment Nick went to police academy and one week the two began to work together, dating in the meantime, which explains how they act like they know each other for a long time in the second movie. This is explained in the wiki from a twitter post one of the writers made. Why didn't the second movie have a training montage scene of Nick working hard to become a cop parallel to Judy's? No fucking idea. Lazyness?, sorry but you are just getting a somewhat generic plot about Nick and Judy struggling with being partners while investigating ANOTHER conspiracy (and apparently this is like, a bit over a week since the events of the original).
The bad guys, being an old-money white family, feel suspicious these days. I wish the twist villain wasn't that blatant and tried to justify himself more, rather than being one-note evil. I wish they made him more reluctant rather than stating "all of the members of this white family are EEVIL!!!"pressed" group of people brewing chaos behind the scenes through the insertion of drugs in communities they dont like in the goal of obtaining more political power for themselves while in THIS one we have a sinister family of elites that fully on control elections wanting to rewrite history over the legacy that they stole and preserve an ancient lie, willing to do the worst things to achieve it.
I suppose they didn't feel like a training montage for Nick like they gave Judy.Apparently, in-universe it has been ONE YEAR from the moment Nick went to police academy and one week the two began to work together, dating in the meantime, which explains how they act like they know each other for a long time in the second movie. There's a lot they could've done with Pawbert but didn't. Just a daddy's boy.The bad guys, being an old-money white family, feel suspicious these days. Gee, I wonder what irl parallels we can draw to that. Hmmm. But, "fuck these people who came here from far away and making everything worse," is literally the most relatable thing ever.

Nope, not explained anywhere. It's all in a random twitter post you wouldn't know if someone else didn't point it to you.So the movie takes place a week after that post credit scene with them stopping Flash (maybe letting him off with a warning or something). The movie does a piss poor job in reestablishing itself tho.
That was my thinking. Unfortunately, it seems they're preparing Nick to be a comic relief loser just like Buzz Lightyear in his own movie. Z3 might be even harsher on the fox. They could have shown Nick in a similar sequence as the original with Judy, except he finds his own ways to come out ontop, which helps establish how different they are.
Not told directly (although said twitter post stated that), but Judy complained about how he never invited her to his place, implying they dated.Ok, I legit dont recall any part of the movie where it indicates Nick and Judy did any dating in the meantime, hell, she didnt even know how his place looked like until the second movie itself.
Does she ever gets confronted with the fact that her husband and SAVIOR OF HER PEOPLE was originally a human? Hell, many allies of theirs in the first movie and even the second are humans.
Its fine if she doesnt like humans that didnt earn her trust in general but to hate her own adoptive kid seems rather difficult to buy, especially since, again, her husband was a human and if its such a problem for her, just leave Spider to live with the humans living on pandora, there was no reason having Jake and family raise him.
I dont dislike the idea of her being racists against humans, hell, I'd welcome it but its not used interestingly like having Spider wanting to gain her approval like the relationship between Tarzan and Kerchak. Its just THERE just so she hates one of her kids and shakes her fists "Damn you, humanity!"
As usual with Avatar, good ideas are often mishandled.
WTF not? If it sucks, who gives a toss. If it is decent or good, then cool.New reboot dropped…
