Oh, I've got my gripes with the Disney corporation, and they're the same as the rest of you. Their mania to remake fucking everything at the expense of new ideas. Their utter awfulness at doing anything with their TV shows. The general soulless-corporate-behemoth aura that pervades everything they do these days.

But then again, I really do like what they're doing with their comics these days. They're doing justice to the legacies of Gottfredson and Barks, and now the best of European duck comics are getting published in the states... I can't hate that. I just can't. They're getting it right.

My favorites were probably Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Tangled, with Sword in the Stone, Robin Hood, and Sleeping Beauty for older movies.
I still like the weird "Cat From Outer Space", a strange movie I first encountered at a supermarket video store probably back in the 80's.

I was pretty meh on the Lion King when it came out, and none of the next several films impressed me at all. I remember seeing Home on the Range, I wish I had drank heavily beforehand. Princess and the Frog had a decent villain song for once, but was otherwise forgettable. I always end up falling asleep when watching Frozen.

I remember watching the Hunchback of Notre Dame 2 with a friend, and we had a blast. It had the old Gummi Bears style bad 2D animation. It was hilarious. To be fair we had watched Cinderella 2 beforehand which was a soulless computer generated cash grab. Hunchback 2 was at least a soulless Korean sweatshop cash grab.

and Dinosaur.

I brought this up to my brother a couple of days ago and said that if Disney needs remake anything, they should do Dinosaur because it'll improve visually and technically without a doubt. But they won't because hardly anyone remembers that movie, apparently.

The real reason "true communism" has never been attempted is because true communism is an AnCap nightmare on Earthbrought to you by the Disney Corporation, our compassionate leaders. Just ask communists on the internet.
Given some of the crazy shit Walt had in mind for EPCOT I wonder what his follow-up would have been.

If I include Pixar: A Bug's Life and Monsters, Inc.

lol that reminds me I realized they're replacing a bug's land with Marvel because that movie didn't age well. Not for anything about how it looked, but somebody's going to be outraged the part of the park meant for little children features a character voiced by Kevin Spacey.

I'm honestly sad about that, A Bug's Land was a nice little addition to the park, and It's Tough to Be a Bug! is the only sequel we're ever going to get. And now it's going away.

Fucking Hollywood. :sigh:

My favourite Disney movies are: The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tarzan, Melody Time, The Great Mouse Detective, Moana, and Dinosaur.

And lol at Hunchback 2. The only thing I like from that dumb movie is the gay ass villain, Sarousch.

You've got some pretty interesting choices there. I really like all of those myself except for Dinosaur. To me it's a less interesting version of Walking with Dinosaurs and the faces make me want to die. The Carnotaurs were pretty cool though. They terrified me as a kid.

I do really like what they've done with the re-releases of the comics but I still find it hard to justify buying them from Disney, especially as the best way of buying books on line is through Amazon (another company I despise). I am however thinking that a few more for my collection couldn't hurt, so would you say Phantom Blot, and a Romano Scarpa collection would be a good choice? I already own a lot of the Carl Barks.

Yes, I would.

Funnily enough I just bought the recent compilation of Scarpa's work today.

I might get on it then. Who's your favourite of the artists? From what I've read of Rosa I really like his story work, I find Gottfreidson one of the few comic strip authors, and Barks is a legend of everything, from humour to a bit of suspense. Even the ones that look a bit serious turn out hilariously such as the one where Donald pretended to be a spy.

Edit: As it's not clear from what I said, I probably like Gotffriedson the most due to how funny he is while also having some darker stuff than the other authors I've read. However Barks is clearly a master of his work and his impact on Disney as a whole is clear to see. I do also own more of the Barks collections as I find his work easier to read through due to not feeling as though I have to read a large serial, and because I discovered Barks first

If we're counting Pixar, then my favorite Disney movie is hands down Toy Story. It was the first movie I ever saw in theaters, and when I was a little kid in the late 90's, my younger brother and I dressed up as the characters from Toy Story for Halloween, I was Sheriff Woody and my brother was Buzz Lightyear. My mom still has the old photos.

Overall, my top five Disney and Pixar choices would be the following....

1. Toy Story
2. The Emperor's New Groove
3. Alice In Wonderland
4. Mulan
5. The Sword In The Stone

Honestly, I like them all.

As a kid I wasn't that big of a Disney fan. The only films I liked of theirs were Toy Story, the 1961 animated 101 Dalmatians, (to no one's surprise), The Brave Little Toaster and Oliver and Company! I think what ultimately caused me to not be interested in Disney (and by extension Pixar) was that there were very few serious moments in the films, a fact which has gotten worse with the Disney and Pixar films of the 2000s and 2o10s. If every serious moment ends with something stupid happening or people spend most of the running time bickering over stupid crap, there really isn't much of a reason for me to care.

Pinocchio.

Every single one of the villains got away with what they did to him.

The term "Jackass" is used more than once.

Pinocchio is shown smoking cigars.

Before I begin, glorious thank you to the maker of this thread.

Disney is NOT synonymous with family values. Never forget that. Or else.
Also, I ain't been to any of the parks, and I don't feel I've lost anything of value, otherwise.
I've had more fun getting ripped off at Dave & Busters, as of late, not playing the right games.

As for my favorite movies (that are off the top of my head and in no order, because fuck that.):
- Tangled (Frozen wishes it were this good, BTW; Also, I'm a proud fan of the recent animated series that came out for it, as well.)

- Big Hero 6 (Both the movie and the current running animated series (which is OK), although the movie is absolute boss.)

- Zootopia (SJWs everywhere need to be strapped down and force-fed this for the rest of their miserable lives, right the fuck now!)

That's it - there are plenty of actual classic movies I can put on here, but I ain't that crazy about them (like everyone else is), honestly. I do agree that Classic Era Disney had much more effort put into their animation & artstyle, which is something that needs a comeback - doing just CGI films is rather lame and I will never forgive Disney for forsaking them, honestly. Especially just to make Garbage Tier live action versions of these classics that are a middle finger to the craft of good movie-making in general.
