I saw someone in what looked like a straight up Snow White costume in Magic Kingdom the other day. Not a kid either, a grown 20 something woman.

Oh yeah, and another baffling trend I noticed: people buying merchandise that looked like various disney snacks. Want a plush dole whip? A bag that looks like a Mickey pretzel? You can buy one. Who is even buying this stuff?

Oh my god, a lot of the Disney merch that people (GROWN ADULTS) are into these days is ridiculous. I don't mind people buying something like "Dole Whip Mouse Ears" to wear at the Parks (because mouse ears are meant for the parks for silly fun), but all of the other food merch is baffling to me. I look at it and think, "This is all useless junk."

I think the trend started from Tokyo Disneyland. With Japan fashion, cutesy "food things" are really popular, and I've seen photos of a lot of the merch from Tokyo Disney. I think that trend has made its way to the American DisneyParks ...

One trend with "Disney fashion" that I can't stand are those AWFUL Danielle Nicole handbags. They are so tacky, ugly, overpriced, and impractical. Like, if you want a Disney-themed handbag, then go for it (The Dooney & Burke ones are actually gorgeous-- so Disney merch can actually look nice)! These are fucking horrendous though:

Disney Princess Spin-Off Movie is “An Idea Worth Exploring”, According to ‘Ralph Breaks the Internet’ Directors
Posted on Monday, March 4th, 2019 by Ben Pearson

Disney Princess spin-off movie

I’ll admit that I rolled my eyes when I first saw the now-famous Disney Princess scene in the trailers for Ralph Breaks the Internet. You know the one: Vanellope Von Schweetz meets Belle, Jasmine, Moana, Cinderella, and several other princesses as they make self-referential jokes about the ordeals they’ve experienced. But while the trailer made it seem slightly crass, the scene plays much better in context and the princesses actually end up factoring into the plot; the movie gives them more to do than just lounge around in pajamas.

But after the princesses’ warm reception in the movie, would the studio consider making an entire animated Disney Princess spin-off movie? The Ralph Breaks the Internet directors say it’s “an idea worth exploring.” But don’t get your hopes up too much…yet.

In an interview with The A.V. Club, directors Rich Moore and Phil Johnston explained how the Disney Princess scenes in the film have connected with audiences in a big way (Spoilers ahead):

“When you’re in Stockholm and they’re saying like, ‘Have you considered doing a movie just about the Princesses?’ I think it’s an idea worth exploring, because everywhere we go, we hear that response. ‘Oh my God, I love the Princesses like that.’ Not just the scene meeting Vanellope and talking about what it means to be a princess, but then to see them in action – it does feel like there’s something to that — that people are finally seeing the Princesses do what you’ve always believed they could do, but you’ve never seen it before.”
Before you get too excited, though, Moore made it clear that nothing official is in the works:

“I don’t know if there’s any conversations going on here seriously about [a spinoff], but we’ve definitely heard a lot of [positive response from the fans]. The fans are off the charts with the ideas that are out there.”
Knowing Disney, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if there actually are conversations about uniting these characters again in some form. The princesses are one of the studio’s biggest merchandising juggernauts, there’s a built-in nostalgia factor, and Ralph Breaks the Internet showed that they can still work in a modern context. That’s a jackpot situation for Disney, who is always looking for content that boosts the company’s key brands.

Typically when the idea of any spin-off is floated, we wonder if the character in question will be able to hold the focus of a story on their own. That notion seems moot in this case, since these princesses have already held up several stories individually. It seems inevitable that some sort of Disney Princess team-up will happen eventually. So will it be a theatrical event (maybe even in live-action?) or a show/movie designed specifically for Disney+? After all, the villains are about to get their time in the spotlight, so it’ll probably only be a matter of time before the Princesses unite once again.

To learn more about how the Disney Princess scene came together in Ralph Breaks the Internet, be sure to check out our detailed breakdown.

I'm super gay so this is very exciting news. Especially since that was the best part of that piece of shit movie.

They're promoting the new princesses in the name of feminism, much like Rey or Captain Action Figure. The old princesses are seen as a disgrace for women so we gotta "change" them to appeal to cat ladies- making them all crazy weirdos who are lesbians with one another and save stupid men on the side.

jk aside do we need to change old female characters. not every character needs to be Princess Leia to be good. don't turn Snow White into a badass, she's fine the way she is. I'd say you could promote the actual badass fighters like Mulan, but what do I know.

For reference.

We already have a Disney princess spin-off.

I could just be looking too deep into this, but I'm thinking Disney's still assmad at DreamWorks despite them not being as much of a threat anymore.

The Princess Aurora one looks okay, but yikes, they almost look like bootlegs.

Bootlegs that will cost you about $80 per handbag. lol.

Some more obvious ones for reference:

Granted, Dooney and Bourke bags are really expensive, but lots of women own things like Kate Spade and Michael Koores bags that are also expensive. lol. I think the D&B bags are really cute, and they look well-made.

If I'm going to splurge on a Disney bag, it ain't going to be one of those Danielle Nicole ones, that's for sure.

I wonder if Disney will use the Avengers formula for this? Knowing Disney, they wouldn’t just be planning only one movie featuring the princesses together, it will probably be at least a trilogy. What would be interesting though is if they plan on princesses dying in the films or getting Thanosed by whatever villain they choose.

Technically they've already murdered their princesses for the live-action remakes and the pod princesses just shit on their corpses for two hours.
Makes sense. Belle from the 2017 live-action remake was insufferable and unrelateable compared to the original 1991 version.

That has to be one of the most rétarded ideas Disney has had in recent history, and that's saying a lot.

Little do a lot of these fans know, though, is that while Wreck-It-Ralph 2 had all of the Princesses together in one movie, the movie spent almost the entire time they were on screen cynically making fun of them. And look at movies like the Beauty & The Beast live action remake: They fully admitted that the Belle in that movie is different from the original because Emma Watson looked down on the original character and demanded that she have creative control over her role (and it totally shows in the remake-- that bitch ain't my Belle).

I personally enjoyed the live action remake of Beauty and the Beast, but I agree that Emma Watson was a -terrible- choice for Belle. And they allowed her to have creative control for that part?! I heard it was over Belle's signature dress, but was there more to that?

I heard she used a dress design given to her by a seven year old. Which explains why it looked so.... ugly.

Emma Watson also wrote parts of the script here and there, like changing Belle into being an inventor (and later not doing anything of value with it) because original Belle nowadays is attacked by feminists and SJWs for being too "passive" and having Stockholm syndrome.

I dunno, SJWs overall hate the Disney princesses from Snow White to Belle. It seems they only give them a pass if they're strong POCs or the sisters from Frozen.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, the sequel to 2014’s Maleficent, has received a new poster and a fresh release date.
Revealed by Disney, Mistress of Evil will hit theaters on October 18, 2019. The minimalist poster featuring Angelina Jolie as the titular character can be seen below.

The sequel was originally set for a May 29, 2020 release date, but has since been moved up. Jolie will be joined by actress Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora, as well as Michelle Pfeiffer as Queen Ingrith. Other actors include Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ed Skrein, Robert Lindsay and Harris Dickinson. Directed by Joachim Rønning, Mistress of Evil is being written by Linda Woolverton, Micah Fitzerman-Blue and Noah Harpster.
The film is set several years after the first Maleficent, and will continue to explore the relationship between Maleficent and Aurora as they "form new alliances and face new adversaries in their struggle to protect the moors and the magical creatures that reside within."
Hope you're ready for Disney to bastardize one of their most memorable villains some more.
