I mean ... That's one way of looking at it? Don't think I agree, though?

Arendelle was going to crumble beneath itself anyway because of a curse involving magic. To make the magical spirits un-curse the land, Anna had to undo the bad thing her grandfather did by breaking that dam, because the dam was a trick to conquer territory against unarmed people.

I didn't see any pro-eco terrorism message in this. lol. It's about a magical curse that had to be unbroken. That's about it. I didn't read that much into it at all.

But the curse was only activated BY Elsa. Literally there was no problem until Elsa unleashed the curse.

And Elsa activated the curse because she was bored of being queen. And as a reward got to become The Avatar

(Also the Curse is a allegory for colonialism. Only by Abandoning her whiteness are Elsa and Anna able to be worthy rulers)

And it was a Bridge that made the environment weaker (and the noble savages who live in tune with the environment). Blowing it up is 100% ecoterrorism.

And as a reward for her Terrorism Anna got to become queen

Elsa was being called by magic; she was being called by her mother. The constant voices drove her to a point to follow them. It's not like Elsa knew what was going to happen to Arendelle. It's as if she has emotions and isn't a perfect person who knows the right answer all of the time? It was also a setup for the end of the film, where Elsa is better suited for taking care of things in the magical territory, and Anna is better suited to be Queen of Arendelle.

Plus, those Arendelle guards that had been trapped in that forest for over 34 years (as well as the inhabitants of that forest) ... Had Elsa not done what she did, those guards would have been trapped in that forest forever. To me, that in of itself was a curse that had to be broken. I personally don't see the environmental implications of setting trapped people free.

With the way the movie presented it, it was a land of magic that was disturbed by acts of war, so the spirits reacted with that curse. Like Elsa in the first movie, the magical land (and those four spirits) were being closed off from everyone, and there were bad results coming from that. That's why in the song, "Show Yourself," Elsa actually discovers herself. She's the fifth spirit, who went through the same thing the other four spirits did, by having someone suppress, conceal, and hide their elemental magic.

Except of course the Magic that was calling Elsa (and the voice in her own head) was Elsa herself.

And she undid the curse without knowing what would happen. So Elsa activated the curse [ecoterrorism] with only the hope of it working out in the end [Flooding which she stopped]. Its totally a Global Warming allegory .

(The magic comes from the frozen ice caps that are melting under global warming...with the big flooding as the 4th act climax)

And we don't show Elsa being a bad queen or a queen having problems. She just runs off as soon as the voices in her head give her the first excuse. (which is a PTSD/Trauma theory theme). As Anna and Elsa are both acting under influence of Trauma and Arendelle is functioning under the trauma of their colonialism.

And Elsa and Anna's grandfather explicitly makes it about him using the environment as a tool of colonialism. And the bad results of the land being closed off 100% were caused by Elsa opening the door

If Elsa had unleashed the entire curse, then why couldn't those guards come back to Arendelle for those 34 years? One of the guards was in love with someone in Arendelle; he had every reason to come back, and he didn't ... Because he was trapped. I think that Elsa accidentally called out to the curse and it spread to Arendelle; not necessarily cause the curse.

I think you're overthinking the whole colonialism bit. That could easily be interpreted as "Authoritarian King wants to be above everyone else and conquer land through violence." He was dishonest with his people, because he wanted to be a step above them, too ... Like any dictator would. To me, it's just a revelation that Anna and Elsa's grandfather was a grand asshole. Not much else to it? I think the commentary about colonialism is quite a stretch. There are actually critics who hate on the movie because it "could have easily been turned into a narrative about reparations, but it refused to do it, so screw this movie."

During the final act of the movie, Elsa reacts to how things unfolded with her grandfather, and her response wasn't "You raped and pillaged the land, how dare you" it was "Why are you trying to suppress magic? Don't be afraid of magic!" It carries a key theme from the first movie and brings it over to this one. I just saw this as bridging the two movies together to fully carry out Elsa's character arc.

And, again, with the environmental/pro-eco terrorism/polar ice caps message: What? I just saw that as Elsa being in tune with the elements/spirits, as ice affects all of the elements differently ...

Again Elsa EXPLICITLY says she unleashed the curse. Why the guards didn't come back? Its part of the movies themes of colonialism and occupation.

Also the Choosen ones had to come in and right the wrong. [which is why the doors sealed on them when they came in]. But Elsa set up the doom for Arendelle [which connects to the global warming allegory

And he outright said the Damn was to damage the magic in their enviroment so they would be weaker and would need him as ruler. Its outright colonialism.

Also "Water has memory" you know what else has enviromental memory? Ice Cores.

So since i had the joy of someone blocking the screen during the penultimate scene of Elsa turning to ice was it any specic thing she saw that did it or did she just go too damn deep? I did get a laugh out of walking past herself singing let it go and being annoyed by it that was a funny little tag to put in for all the peope tired of the song.

She went to far

So apparently my folks decided to get Disney+, and they volunteered their password to me. (Side note: None of these streaming services seem to be able to tell that people on the same account are all logging in from totally different places.. their loss is my gain I guess) And I was surprised. Unlike Netflix, Disney+ seems to have a shit ton of things I actually want to see... I know Disney is evil, but maybe just this once they did something right...

Hopefully the fix the aspect ratios of some, the simpsons pics from it were hilarius.

Now I just saw a post on tumblr, so take this with a shovel of salt ready, but people were saying that Disney+ is IP blocking. Allegedly large groups of people have been IP blocked.

To be honest all this shit would be right up Walt Disney's alley. Dude may have been a bit racist but damn he loved the environment.

Now get me the Ice Titan from Hercules in pain and slowly melting, animated 3/4 profile speaking documentary-style about how it could have been prevented if the kids watching this adopted a vegan diet.
