Media dominance is very powerful. Recently some dutch politicians were complaining that dutch parliament was going to decide to take unconstitutional actions.
In the US this is possible. But the Dutch legal system isn't built on common law and precedence, but on civil law, the french legal system (which derives from the roman legal system instead of the norman legal system of anglos). In this system, one of the roles of parliament is to interpret the constitution and any action or path they choose is constitutional by definition.
And this is in addition to the fact that our constitution is a lot vaguer than for example the US constitution.
Yes it's annoying but inevitable. You go back 70 years and these ideas were coming from france, you go back 90 years and they were coming from germany with the frankfurt school.
