you know, like pokemon cards or some shit.
i mainly collect:
- old wheat cents
- cheap casio watches
- obsolete nokias and blackberries
- pig toys (it's a comfort thing lol)

might start buying old thinkpads too. i heard the t61 is cool.

I accumulate books and DVDs, I don't collect get them to have, I get them to obtain information, so I don't know if I'd really term it collecting for the sake of collecting.

I collect small, very varied trinkets featuring rats, anything from Chinese carved jade to Indonesian bone to American pottery. I don't care where it comes from, so long as it's cute and has a ratty on it. I love me some ratties.

Australian lustreware vases made between 1940 and 1960. I find the vases in themselves beautiful, but I'm also fascinated by the slow drip of information that I've been getting about the different potteries that were making these vases. There's very little information online, and while a couple books have been written about those potteries, they were published in runs of 1000 or 500 and have been out of print for a decade. So whenever I uncover a new scrap of information or find a new maker it's like I've won a little prize.

Not so much since the pandemic began, but I've been a huge antiquarian book/fragment/ephemera collector for about ten years. The highlight of my collection would probably be a 15th century leaf from a Dutch psalter, totally handwritten.

Also went through a period where I collected Roman coins, specifically those minted during the reign of Julian II.

Sundry antiques, mostly oriental vases and other interesting items, some original, some high quality copies.

I've also acquired the autistic habit of collecting weightlifting shoes (I mean I actually use them too,) spending far too much money there.

Technically also 'collecting' BTC, porn, and bootleg copies of rare classic Asian movies. That came in handy since the great death of torrents.

I used to collect older video games and comics/manga but once I realized they only really sit on my shelf I kind of stopped doing it. Also it doesn't help I can get all of them off the internet for free. These days I mostly just "collect" (download of the internet for free) photos of anime girls from series I really like. Maybe it's weird but I have fun and it doesn't cost me anything.

I like collecting comic books/graphic novels/manga and Star Wars figures, been collecting them since I was a kid.

I used to collect retro video games like NES, SNES, N64 cartridges before I realized that was a huge money sink since ya know, I could just download all those games for free, not to mention my N64 stopped working properly ages ago.
