Does anyone else genuinely miss the 2010s? - It's very weird to say this since there were even more terrible things compared to it's predecessor but is the Early 2010s at least fairly memorable.

As we are approaching the mid 2020s. I think it might be the appropriate time to reflect on the previous decade.

In my experience, before the 2016 election and COVID, it felt like a completely different and much more simpler world. Things weren't as heated as it is now. The internet had more freedom of speech back then but it were to change amidst and after the election.

As for the late 2010s, it's a different story, things are pretty heated though it seems fairly moderate compared to now but nearing the end of the decade we often said how batshit insane the world was as each year passes.

Interesting question. I'd say apart from the added layer of bullshit that was COVID (which has largely faded into irrelevance) we're still in the 2010s, culturally speaking. The world really doesn't feel fundamentally different from how it was in 2019, at least not for me.

The first half of the 2010s were a solid continuation of the 2000s in someways like the Internet was still kind of a Wild West, people still had decent senses of humor, IRL hangouts existed and dating was had much less baggage surrounding it. It was about 2014 that shit started going bad with Gamergate and a bunch of retarded drama (although you van say Benghazi and the Tea Party were warning shots of this, albeit much more serious in nature than gay Internet drama), but by 2016, things took a turn for the worse due to the election that year and we've been in hell ever since.

What was the story of that? Something about an African dictator winning an election?
Some dude wanted to stop an Congolese warlord from using child soldiers in a decades long civil war. Caught on at first until the guy had a mental breakdown and was caught jerking off completely named in public while ranting about something. Haven't heard shit about it since.

I can understand where you are coming from but I kinda disagree. I think every facet of life has gotten noticiably worse post-COVID to the point that the 2020s are culturally distinct from the 2010s. People were initially optimistic during the 2010s' beginning and while it did taper off , it didn't quite hit the lows that COVID dealt the world and the biggest transfer of money to corporations and the lockdowns really just killed any sort of hope people had for the future in 2019.

It seems society goes through phases of being happy and depressed. The early 2010s, if you pay attention to the big pop hits, was all about being happy and partying. We're going through a depressive phase right now, in general everything is pretty drab. Music, shows, attitude.
I really miss early 2010s cringe, before it all became trannies, pedos, and political lolcows.

I was born in 1984. I didn't get experience the 80's. Vice City made me nostalgic for a decade I wasn't even old enough to experience. No, I don't feel nostalgic for the 2010's. My mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and passed away in 2012. My sister was also diagnosed with cancer a few years later and passed away in 2016. It wasn't really a good decade for me.

What I do miss from that time was the rise of the alt-right. Trump running for the presidency for the first time. Troll raids launched from alt-right forums. Shit posting on alt-right forums. The internet still had some level of freedom. Though by Trumps first year in office I had completely stopped using Facebook. Another thing I enjoyed was building my first gaming PC. I did that in 2016. So, it wasn't all bad. There just isn't much that makes me want to go back.

I don't miss the 2010s. They kicked off with that false Rapture prophecy, then that "the world's gonna end in 2012" because "Nibiru" or some "pole shift" BS -- or because "the Bible said so" (somehow). After the world didn't end(?), the 2010s continued with the rise of "social media" and "smartphone" ways. The Occupy movement happened and was derailed by "social justice" (which later spread like a plague). Then Anita Sarkeesian pushed that "Tropes vs. Women" propaganda. Then that "GamerGate" circus happened. Clown World and BS "social justice" went fully mainstream when Orange Man was elected, and TDS was in. Then increasing crazy towards the 2020 freakshow.

In short, the 2010s saw the start of Clown World and the endless Current Year. But the 2010s were not all bad, and they went by fast.

I've mentioned it before, but it seems like the 2010s were a blur to me.
