Does anyone else genuinely miss the 2010s? - It's very weird to say this since there were even more terrible things compared to it's predecessor but is the Early 2010s at least fairly memorable.

Things i miss from the 2010's although some of it form might be from me getting older. All of this is based on personal Nostalgia since my 2010's where my late teens and most of my 20's.

1. People where more open to hang out later ,and more places stayed open in the night far later into the night/ 24 hours. If i wanted to go to Walmart at 1 am I could of. Or me and group of friend wanted play MTG at the big tables in the very back at Dennys after the game store closed we could of.

2. Sex was easier to get for me outside a relationship. Women and surpassingly even leftest women where easier to get to sleep with you back then despite #metoo, and feminism. ( for some reason leftest women only found me attractive despite looking very conservative) Before the George Floyd ,Woe v wade all that covid stuff, from my experience women last decade where more sex positive, and welling to have sex even with right wingers. keeping in mind all these women where about 5's on the look scale but it was nice to have a few women I know on rotation i could of texted to hang and and often lead to sex, if my plan with the boys feel through.

3. Movie theater mattered more Although I hated the MCU and Disney Star Wars even back then and want both ips to die. ( kinda still back then) Those movies where often "good enough" excuse to meet up and hang out with my more normie friends, and dick around downtown or get food after. Shoot me and a friend still can't believe we met and got a couple girls snapchats, that we met in line waiting for the first Deadpool Movie.

4. Everything was cheaper. Inflation we had now wasn't nearly as bad, and if i wanted to go out to eat, i wouldn't even notice or think twice when it came to cost. Same with video games, plastic crap, MTG cards, or things i done or bought on impulse. Everything being cheaper really helped me do points 1,2,3 above.

If you where able to tune out from sjw/tumblr culture, increasing woke and politics as a whole form time to time the 2010's where not that bad.

Oddly enough things in my hobby of FPV drones and airplanes are a lot cheaper now. There's a glut of inexpensive flight controllers and a variety of cheap cameras, video transmitters, and even fully programmable radio transmitters to choose from for newcomers who are getting into the hobby. You can easily get started with a nice 3in or 5in premade drone, batteries, radio tx, for under $500. Thanks to LoRa protocol being used in FOSS hardware and software, we also now have a superior radio link with super impressive range compared to all the older protocols.

2012-2016 was great man, I miss that.

At that time I was a dumb kid who only cared about getting good grades and going home soon so I could watch another new episode of regular show or play splatoon with my friends.

It was the golden age of rude and politically incorrect content on YouTube and it felt like back then content creators had a lot more freedom when it came to expressing themselves and making videos for the platform.

People were more neutral, and things like degenerate trannies, furries, or autistic manchilds were seen as a source of ridicule, at least in my country.

In general, if you compare it with the current decade you will see that as a society we have gotten much worse.

I hope my sentimental sperging was to your liking, dear stranger :)

Another reason I don't miss the 2010s: the internets really went to crap as "social justice" was going from the fringe to mainstream.

tl;dw: much of the internet could be AI-created or curated

In general, if you compare it with the current decade you will see that as a society we have gotten much worse.
And yet the ignorant or anyone trying to "gaslight" you want you to think this world is "just changing" -- rather than getting worse.

I feel like the internet has become way more psychotic in terms of actually crazy people since 2018. I'm rewatching a lot of content that was popular during the mid 2010s and thinking of how many Twitch streamers where doxxed and death threatened over a Harry Potter game a few years ago really conflicts with that mid 2010s Filthy Frank humor where he or Idubbbz where just saying some stupid ironic shit to get a legit point across. The worst I remember was hype beast circles and some commentators like LeafyisHere bullying some child mildly which is nothing compared to what happened to Jessi Slaughter. Now I'm not saying that the internet was always sunshine and rainbows but it seems to have gotten worse over the past few years in the mainstream.

I guess this thread is full of zoomers. Since they are reminiscing about the 2010's.

the only thing I miss was the early 2010's, and I was in high school back then. Mostly miss how the internet still felt like it was alive, even if the wild west was long gone and how cheaper things were..
Also rent was cheaper.

Half and half. I actually miss pre 2010 when things on the Internet were more of a niche instead of something everyone owned. There was a time you were made fun of for gaming and participating in the Internet, but most of you remember this so I won’t bother. I’m ok with moving on I just wish the world had less of a doomer attitude right now.

I actually miss the late-2010s more than the early 2010s. The early 2010s were actually very grim in their outlook because we hadn't even papered over the recession yet and the general energy of the populace was just very low back then. Even the ruling class was just putting up articles and think pieces about "managed decline" and we were still in the middle of those forever wars with nothing to speak for and no plan to stop them.
The late 2010s were way better because for all their bullshit, they were fun to live through because the world actually had something happen that was worthwhile. The economy recovered, politics was genuinely interesting and people were acting like they had life in them. That was an era worth continuing and the Biden administration ruining it can't be forgiven.

Another reason I don't miss the 2010s and am glad I wasn't a kid in school then: convoluted "Common Core" BS in education.

(also "woke" indoctrination)

For me the 2010s lead to here in pretty much a straight line so no not really

You should've been born in 1990. Niche was so great. 2010 is a water down version of what niche was.
