So quite a few websites have described Kiwi Farms as an alt-right hate site. True, most of these websites describe everything they hate as alt-right, but it's hard to deny Kiwis have a slight right-wing bend to their political views.
I've definitely noticed my own views shifting more to the right of center since I've joined this site, but the question is... why?

What is it about Kiwi Farms that encourages right-wing thought? Is it just because Kiwi Farms attracts people who were already right wing, or does the information on the site cause K-farmers to shift their opinions away from the far left?
Maybe by exposing the absurdity of the world, Kiwi Farms actually strikes upon a vein of truth, and this causes the people who see this truth to understand things from a conservative perspective...
Maybe we're not right wing at all, but our opponents are so far left that even our centrist ideals seem right-wing to them.

Or maybe we're just a bunch of hate-mongering Nazi bastards, like many Lolcows believe.'

What do you think?

Now of course, take all of this with a grain of salt, as I've always personally leaned a bit more to the right, than center....

I personally believe that a lot of it boils down to the fact that your opinion, regardless of what side of the field it lies on, is free to be expressed here, without the fear of one side or the other(seemingly more on the left) jumping down your throat for what they perceive to be 'wrongthink' in this day and age. It doesn't help that it's also the direction that the SJW crowd and a large portion of todays youth have gone, just mindlessly agreeing and not allowing their worldviews to be challenged in any way at all, and if it is, their response is to scream the loudest until they get their way.

That's not a freedom that you have in very many places in this day and age, even amongst some of your closest friends who you can discuss almost anything with. There's no fear of expressing yourself, no fear of friends losing their mind, etc. The Farms is a unique place in that you're free to not only express your own opinions, but you can explore others opinions and freely form your own views without the outside world constantly breathing down your neck to think only in one specific way, and only that way.

You said it a lot better than I could. This isn't the type of website where the most left-leaning person will become an alt-righter after just a month on here. Same with the other way around. Everyone's allowed to speak their mind, even if their opinions and political views are dumb as hell. And you won't get left or right-wing propaganda shoved down your throat, which is pretty refreshing.

From my own perspective, many, if not most, of the cows we farm tend to have some very leftist views. ADF, Chris Chan, the Rat King, etc... They're all just awful people, and I find that the more I read about them, the more I'm disgusted by their worldview.

Maybe, for me at least, it's a sort of guilt by association. I find myself disliking certain leftist causes because the worst examples of people who support them are on this site, and I don't want to be like them. In fact, in many cases I'm repulsed by some ideas because they sound like something that ADF or Greta might support, and if those kinds of people support something, I feel compelled to oppose them on principle.

I think Chris' leftism might be some highly delayed latent rebellion against his upbringing mixed with a desire to fit in with "progressives", for what it's worth.

:powerlevel:But I think of myself being pretty centrist, my only "extreme" views being both pro-gun and pro-universal healthcare. Meet in the middle.

Considering the large number of left and right wing lolcows, it is safe to say that if you act like a dumbass, we will talk and make fun of you regardless of our beliefs. I am right leaning but think folks like Stephan Molenuex is an absolute dumb-ass extraordinaire, Richard Spencer is a dramawhore that is severely delusional if folks in the state are going to form a White Enthnostate, that Black Pidgen Speaks is all style and no substance with having the dramatic problem of fearmongering without even offering a solution and seeming to imply the only solution is mass murder.

I'd suggest a few thoughts I had.

1. The average age of the users is probably much higher than any other site on the internet. Age usually indicates life experience, rather than theoretical rote learning.

2. Many of the people here probably were kicked out of various hugboxes for being "the enemy" (too moderate)

3. The mods aren't completely corrupted and partisan.
