Man, that's a tough one

I'm going to have to go with Sonic though. As I continued reading the comic, I sometimes completely forgot that Pokemon was involved.

Sonic, but really, the whole comic is a giant clusterfuck of unoriginality and plagiarism, so just these two won't cut it.

Sonic. The later Sonichu comics kinda focus more in a Sonic style than a Pokemon style.

I'd say Sonic - after all, the hedgehogs talk and walk bipedal and have near-human cognitive abilities... as far as anyone can be said to have "cognitive abilities" within the CWCville universe.

Sonic. Lets face it, the only reason he fused it with a pikachu was because he thought that would make him "original". Sonichu's entire personality, much like everything else about him, is pretty much a lamer version of sonic's I mean, if sonic pretty much turned into Amy's stalker, was obsessed with a fat manchild, and painted himself yellow, that'd be sonichu.

Yeah, another vote for Sonic here. He does try to toss in some Pokemon stuff here and there, like giving the chaotic combo typing and evolutions and all that crap, but wasn't Sonichu "born" in Station Square from Sonic Adventure? I think Chris actually may not even be able to differentiate the two, as I think he believes the canon of every video game ever interweaves into this big smash bros-like universe, where everything goes on at once, explaining why Sonic and Pikachu were somehow able to be in the same place at the same time.

That is one question we may spend years trying to find the answer to...

The reason I voted Pokemon is because all of the attacks -- or at least most of them -- are Pokemon-based, leaving aside the Chrs-Chan Pure Jolt Lance made by Chris and his fictional twin. Flame the Sunbird is a ripoff of Kazooie from Banjo-Kazooie, but IIRC, he gets attacks like "Drill Peck." The Chaotic Combo moves go with their type; the excuses Chris made to Evan about keeping Simonla had to do with always wanting a Ground-type; and of course Chr!s-Chan Sonichu gets every single move that every Chaotic Combo member has ever had. Plus, Chloe and Blazebob are saved from PandaHalo's fiery fate because she flings their Pokeballs out the window to safety (good thing she was apparently on a low floor as she died horribly), and two of the best-loved characters from the entire series are Yawning Squirtle and Boulder-Dropping Whale, who is allegedly a Wailord. (Wild and Bubbles were even raised by Pokemon couples.)

Throw me on the Sonic dogpile. Considering the thousands upon thousands of TRUE and ORIGINAL recolors the Sonic franchise has spawned, it's way too easy to throw Chris amongst those ranks.

I lean towards Sonic as well. While the Pokemon themes are constantly present, the chus in CWCville are actually considered free people, whereas the other Pokemon are still portrayed as pets or servants.

Also - and I'm not sure if this is even relevant - why are the Chaotic Combo a combination of Sonic, Pikachu/Raichu and some other random Pokemon, if the eggs were born from the rainbow alone?

I'd say Sonic.

I was thinking about this, as time passes Chris starts using Pokémon attacks names less around issue 5 where his mind shifts more towards other things, like YuGiOh, Family Guy, and Transformers. Sonic remains a more consistent influence.

TBH looking at it that way, tossing in influences from other things might have been Chris' way of keeping his content HONEST and TRUE and ORIGINAL, because if it rips off everything and not just one thing it's a "parody", and "parodies are legal".

IIRC, Chris didn't call his brainchild a parody until the trolls started pestering him about copyrights. He also takes Sonichu way too seriously for it to be an intentional joke; just look at how badly he flipped his shit over some gay and dickgirl fan art.

I can dream...

If Chris didn't constantly use the phrase 'Electric Hedgehog Pokemon', I would've forgotten they were anything but Sonic recolors. I guess that's points for origina-... wait, nevermind.
